Chapter 135: Lightning Wolves
Bian had intercepted the group, ten steps before they wandered into the Lightning Forest.
It was a terrifying region filled with electric trees, where one leaf could seriously injure a surpasser.
Surprisingly, the wolves which hunted in the Lightning Forest came out to meet them. There were about two hundred green wolves with green lightning coating their fur.
Through the dongxuan sutra, Bian could tell their fitness was not so high. They were all mutant creatures, which weren't worth the attention of his group.
Slaughtering them wouldn't bring him any benefits whatsoever, so he chose to restrict them instead.
Using the dongxuan sutra, he stripped them of their senses. The ferocious wolves suddenly became like headless chickens, unsure of what to do.
"Why aren't they attacking us?" an injured surpasser asked.
"Did you do this?" Uncle San asked Bian, to which he responded with a nod.
"I won't force any of you to follow us. If you seek safety and a means of returning to the alliance, come with us." Bian was a man who didn't waste time. After his ultimatum, a lot of surpassers pressured Uncle San, who agreed to follow Bian.
"Good, taking them up the shelter would have been a pain if not for the doll-type beast soul I just got."
The doll-type beast soul of the Copper Serpent Throne could recreate a spirit from the empty spirit stone socket. Recreating Varkal allowed Bian to access some features of the walking shelter normally not available to other spirits.
One of these features was a transmission circle, used to move people from the ground to the shelter.
A fifty-meter-wide circle with esoteric diagrams appeared near the feet of the shelter. Uncle San arranged for the injured to go first, while the more capable waited behind.
The circle beneath their feet lit up, causing gasps of awe to erupt from the crowd. Eventually, the surpassers were teleported to the shelter, while the next batch walked on the circle.
"Another wolf is coming, this one is a sacred-blood variant," Han Yan told Bian.
Her dongxuan sutra had not reached a high enough level to suppress the senses of a sacred-blood creature.
It would take years for both her and Man Tian to raise their gene locks to match their fitness.
Bian had reached the seventh gene lock of the dongxuan sutra, due to the hyperactive soul pillar which increased his processing ability and understanding. This effect couldn't be passed unto other though, so he was powerless to help his teammates in this regard.
"Thanks for the heads up." Bian suppressed the senses of the blue wolf.
He had done this, but it continued rushing towards the group, knowing its senses would be taken away. Its body was covered in destructive blue lightning and would surely harm them once it got close enough.
"It's not stopping!" Uncle San brought out a long sword, while many of the surpassers around him readied their weapons.
Man Tian frowned and clenched his fist. A single blow would be enough to obliterate the wolf, but Bian was faster than him.
A blue energy left his chest and coated his fist before it was punched out towards the wolf. The blow smacked the wolf back and left it mid-air, floating in a blue film.
The attack was never meant to kill but carried the suppressive element he had absorbed. It was a good way to test his powers, which completely immobilized the sacred-blood wolf.
"What a wretched power, to incapacitate the beast in one strike!" Uncle San said in awe.
He felt embarrassed as he realized that Bian was being polite to him all along. With such power, he could force the group into doing anything he wanted, and they literally could not defy him.
"You guys better hurry on, the alpha is coming!" Han Yan warned them.
Lin Weiwei was confused as she thought the blue wolf was the alpha. Soon several howls were heard as hundreds of wolves charged through the forest.
He would much rather prefer not to harm the wolves, but sometimes an example was needed to show they weren't to be trifled with.
Soon enough, their footsteps could be heard as the wolves charged through the forest. By now, most of the surpassers had gone up to the shelter, leaving Uncle San and Lin Weiwei as the last of them.
Bian stomped on the ground. The earth elemental energy in his chest flowed to his leg. A visible shockwave spread through the ground with violent force.
Hundreds of wolves were thrown into the air, their fates unknown. Bian didn't relent for a single second and channeled Yang energy to his palms, infusing them with lightning.
Clap!
A thunderclap was unleashed, spreading thunder like a wave. Several of the wolves were electrocuted, left unable to move, but none of them died.
"So powerful, but the lightning wasn't as effective on them," Lin Weiwei muttered.
Bian was already using his next move, growing accustomed to his elemental charges. This time, he sent out a palm with a chilling aura.
Wherever the palm blast went was instantly frozen. It froze the grass, trees, mutant wolves, and was heading to a sacred-blood wolf.
Awoo!
Purple lightning resounded with a howl and shot towards the chilling palm blast. The palm attack was shattered in an instant.
'The powers of my attacks vary, but most are weakened when used from a distance.' Bian turned to face the massive purple wolf.
Its body was unlike the other lightning wolves, it wasn't coated in lightning. Instead, a vibrant purple electric current could be seen in its eyes.
Lin Weiwei and Uncle San knew for sure that the beast was a super creature. They were meant to be worried, but looked at Bian, whose composure didn't change in the slightest.
Even Man Tian and Han Yan were nonchalant, as if the beast in front of them was not one of the strongest creatures in the sanctuaries.
"Are you sure he is just a music director?" Uncle San gave a self-deprecating smile and whispered.
Before Lin Weiwei could respond, they all heard a lone howl in the distance. This howl was similar to that of the wolves but also much different.
The wolf king glanced at Bian for a moment before turning back and leaving. Its pack picked up their fallen brothers and followed behind their king.
"We need to hurry on this mountain. The more time we waste, the stronger Executioner Green becomes," Han Yan reminded.
Bian nodded along and turned to Uncle San.
"On the shelter, there is an Emperor Spirit called Xie Qing King."
He had not finished talking, but Uncle San had turned ashen in complexion. He seemed to be filled with rage and was about to draw his sword, but Bian gave him a slap across the face.
"I don't need any silly reaction out of you! The spirit is a friend of ours. I want you to guide him to your shelter."
"He will take control from there and conquer the shelter. After that, he's going to conquer all the shelters around that area."
Uncle San held his burning cheek, partially resentful but also grateful that Bian had not slapped his head off. He took in a deep breath to calm his emotions before speaking,
"The spirit that conquered our shelter is also as strong as a super creature and has many of such abominable creatures in his envoy.
"And to conquer where he came from would be to face more than one Emperor Spirit. I'm worried about the safety of my men."
Bian opened his eyes in surprise. The man before him didn't act on emotion but actually spoke with sense.
"Don't worry, throughout all spirits in the Third Sanctuaries, he alone stands above. If he wasn't sealed during the divinity bout, then he would have been in the top three, no exceptions."
Uncle San and Lin Weiwei gasped. If what Bian said was true, then only the likes of No God Emperor, the top spirit in the Third Sanctuaries, could stand against him.
"Besides, there is another Emperor Spirit on the shelter and even a friend of mine who is stronger than all Emperor Spirits." Bian reassured the gobsmacked duo and sent them on their way.
Soon, the walking shelter turned away and headed towards the shelter they were forced to leave.
Man Tian summoned the Golden Growler. It grew in size until it was half as big as the walking shelter.
They all stood on top of the vast gold back as it sprinted through Ghost Mountain. Forests, valleys, streams, creeks—the scenery kept changing as the Golden Growler moved even faster than the walking shelter.
"Is Tyrant really going to fight?" Man Tian asked Bian.
"I doubt it. Xie Qing King was the one who asked for the chance to stretch his body and experience his new power in full.
He should be able to handle whatever challenges come up by himself. Tyrant is there to ensure the shelter and spirits are safe. He is physically the strongest being in the sanctuaries after all."
"Do you know where we are going to next?" Han Yan asked.
"Good question, let me check." Bian unleashed the Emperical Aura. An indigo light spread rapidly, painting a section of the Ghost Mountain in its eerie light.
