Pokémon: The Strongest Trainer (Ash SI)

Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Magic Mirror!

Ash woke up as usual five in the morning. He got up early and snuck into the training field behind the Pokémon Center. Ever since awakening the power of the Sharingan, he'd noticed a shift in his personality.

Maybe it was the separation of his past life's assassin instincts from his current self. But whatever the reason, Ash was well aware of the changes—and he didn't hate them. In fact, he rather enjoyed it.

After all, no one wants to wear a smile every day and play the friendly hero all the time. Ash looked down at the Poké Ball insignia beneath his feet and was reminded of the dull routine of his former life.

"Susanoo!"

His eyes snapped open. The crimson Sharingan spun rapidly, evolving into a shuriken-shaped Mangekyō pattern. In an instant, crimson flames flickered into existence around him, slowly forming the shape of a skeletal warrior. Ash stood at its center as the ribcage of Susanoo wrapped around him.

"Gah!"

He doubled over in pain, coughing violently.

"Damn it… I just wanted to test it. I didn't think the first stage of Susanoo would cause this much agony… Feels like every cell in my body just died all at once!"

As the skeletal form of Susanoo solidified, Ash's entire body throbbed with pain. Were it not for his intense willpower, he would've screamed outright.

"Release!"

Unable to endure it further, Ash deactivated the Susanoo. The instant it vanished, the searing pain that wracked his body eased significantly.

"I need to obtain the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan as soon as possible… Or maybe even Wood Release. Without something to balance the side effects, Susanoo could kill me," Ash muttered, staring at strands of newly white hair among his usual black. Sweat trickled down his brow.

Wood Release possessed extraordinary regenerative power. Later in the Naruto world, even Madara Uchiha could wield Susanoo like child's play after acquiring Hashirama's cells.

"Seriously… I used Susanoo for less than a minute and already my eyesight's fading? What kind of bullshit is this?" Ash growled as his surroundings began to blur slightly—proof that his vision was starting to degrade.

After testing his limits, he returned to his room. Thankfully, his experiment hadn't drawn much attention. Slipping back inside, he peeled off his sweat-soaked clothes and sank into the bathtub.

By his estimation, he was still far from being able to use Susanoo freely. His current physique couldn't compare to the chakra-enhanced bodies of shinobi in the Naruto world. Using Mangekyō techniques came at a steep cost.

But if necessary, he could still manage it—barely.

After soaking for over an hour, Ash stepped out of the bath and changed into freshly laundered clothes. It was now just past six in the morning.

"I need to catch more Pokémon soon. Right now, I've only got four," Ash said, glancing at Pikachu, still fast asleep, and the three Poké Balls clipped to his belt. He stepped out onto the balcony and gazed at the distant scenery.

"Hm? What's going on over there?"

He narrowed his eyes. A strange surge of water-type energy pulsed from the direction of the forest. Without his Sharingan, he might never have sensed it.

In the Forest...

"Dr. Senbelli, the base was attacked by Suicune ! Most of the captured Pokémon have escaped!"

A panicked Team Rocket grunt, wearing a uniform with the signature red "R," reported to a scientist in a white lab coat.

"Calm down. So what if the Pokémon escaped? The main target is Suicune. If it's coming to us on its own, that's perfect!" Dr. Senbelli said, eyes gleaming as he watched the scene unfold on a monitor.

Outside, Suicune let out a piercing cry, mouth glowing as it unleashed a Hyper Beam! The beam tore through parts of the hidden base, setting off explosions. Chaos reigned as captured Pokémon fled from their containment cells—though some, unfortunately, had already been used for experiments.

"Huff… Huff… Huff…"

After unleashing its full fury, Suicune stood panting. Even as a Tier-3 Legendary Pokémon, the exertion had taken its toll.

In this world, the classification of Legendary Pokémon was further divided after the Champion level:

Legendary Pokémon (Tier 3)

High-tier Legendary Pokémon (Tier 2)

Top-tier Legendary Pokémon (Tier 1)

Super Legendary (Mythical Pokémon)

God of Creation (Arceus)

Breaking past the Champion rank into Legendary tiers was no easy feat. Only a handful had managed it.

To reach the third tier of mythical beings, one had to claim a Divine Seat. This required mastery over elemental laws—like water, in Suicune's case. While any water-type Pokémon theoretically had a chance, the odds were slim. Most would never come close.

"Hold your ground, everyone! Suicune's exhausted—it won't hold out much longer! We must capture it alive!"

The Team Rocket commander's eyes gleamed with ambition as he looked at the weary Legendary Pokémon. Catching Suicune would be a massive accomplishment. A promotion... wealth... fame—it was all within reach!

Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da!

Suddenly, the rattle of machine gun fire rang out, sending a storm of bullets in Suicune's direction. In this world, firearms still held a place—especially for organizations like Team Rocket.

"Awooo!"

With a sharp cry, Suicune summoned a shimmering blue barrier around itself. The bullets collided with the shield and—shockingly—rebounded, arcing back toward the direction they came from.

Screams erupted as the bullets tore into the surrounding Rocket grunts. Those unable to react in time were either seriously injured—or killed on the spot.

This was Magic Mirror—a unique ability exclusive to some high-tier Legendary Pokémon. Unlike moves like Mirror Coat or Counter, Magic Mirror reflected physical and special attacks alike with amplified defensive force—capable of deflecting even attacks several tiers above the user's level.

"Damn it! You're not getting away that easily!"

Snarling in frustration at the loss of his men, the Rocket commander pulled out what looked like a compact rocket launcher. With practiced precision, he aimed it straight at Suicune.

Bang!

The launcher fired—not a missile, but a net crackling with electricity. Though Suicune was a Legendary Pokémon, it was still a Water-type—and right now, visibly exhausted. If that net landed, the outcome could be fatal.

"Susanoo!"

Just as the electric net hurtled toward Suicune, a thunderous voice echoed through the clearing.

Out of nowhere, a skeletal arm wreathed in crimson flames erupted into view. The burning hand of Susanoo—massive and imposing—snatched the electrified net out of the air and crushed it into sparks.

"W-Who's there?!"

The Rocket commander stumbled backward, wide-eyed. A chill crept down his spine. The unknown terrified him far more than Suicune ever could.

Humans fear what they don't understand. And this... this wasn't just a power they didn't understand—it was something unearthly.
