Pokemon: Psychic Master

Chapter 294: Absol and Jirachi! (BONUS)

Crackle—

The campfire crackled, sending sparks into the air.

The night sky stretched like a dark canvas above, dotted with countless stars. Occasionally, a shooting star streaked across, playfully trailing its tail.

Johan lay on the grass, resting his head on Ninetales' soft, cool tails. Gazing up at the starry sky, he felt a rare sense of peace.

Steven, Flannery, and Roxanne sat nearby, their faces bathed in the warm orange glow of the campfire.

"Will we see the comet tonight?" Flannery asked, stirring the fire with a stick.

"Probably not," Roxanne replied softly.

"The earliest the Millennium Comet is expected to appear is tomorrow, or the day after," Steven added, holding a stone up to the firelight for inspection.

Johan stretched lazily and sat up.

"Gengar, how's the fishing going?"

He glanced toward the stream, where Gengar, Tinkaton, Kubfu, and Charcadet sat in a row on a smooth rock, holding makeshift fishing rods.

Hearing Johan's voice, Gengar scowled.

It was glaring at a Magikarp beneath the water that swam in circles around the bait but refused to bite.

Splash—

Magikarp flicked its tail, splashing water onto Gengar's face once again.

That was the final straw.

"Ka-kaah!! (▼皿▼)σ"

Gengar clenched its tiny fists, crackling with ghostly blue electricity, ready to jump into the stream.

Seeing the electricity, the Magikarp froze for a moment before its entire body glowed with an intense white light.

Johan: ???

Steven, Flannery, and Roxanne also looked over in confusion.

The next moment—

"ROARRRR!!"

A Gyarados with glistening blue scales erupted from the water, roaring fiercely.

The Magikarp, scared witless by Gengar, had evolved!

The newly transformed Gyarados leered at Gengar, its massive eyes filled with smug amusement.

"What now? I evolved! What are you gonna do now?"

Unfortunately for it, Gengar burst into laughter.

"Ka-kaah!"

Without hesitation, Gengar launched itself at Gyarados, slamming its head down in a massive headbutt.

BAM!!

The once-mighty Gyarados splashed back into the water, completely dazed. It floated belly-up, drifting away with the current.

Gengar clapped its hands together triumphantly.

"Ka-kaah!" (All done here!)

Clearly, the fishing expedition was a failure.

Kubfu had fallen asleep halfway through fishing.

Charcadet didn't even have a proper hook on its line.

And Tinkaton…

Johan's gaze landed on the enormous metal hook in Tinkaton's hands.

"Tinkaton, are you trying to catch a Wailord?"

Tinkaton tilted its head in confusion and asked innocently:

"Cha?" (Is Wailord tasty?)

Johan pinched the bridge of his nose. "That's not the point…"

After a long pause, he muttered, "It's delicious. Really delicious."

Tinkaton's eyes sparkled with determination.

It had made a decision—someday, it would catch a Wailord.

At that moment, Johan noticed something unusual.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the Rainbow Wing.

The feather shimmered softly, its colors shifting like a dream.

Didn't I just "feed" it recently? Why is it reacting again so soon?

He instinctively channeled his aura into the feather. The glow intensified, pulsing with an increasingly urgent rhythm.

Steven and the others noticed the feather as well.

Flannery gasped, "Wow! It lights up?"

"Is that… the Rainbow Wing?!" Roxanne's eyes widened with disbelief.

"The Rainbow Wing? What's that?" Flannery asked, puzzled.

Steven, equally surprised, explained, "It's a legendary item said to be a feather from Ho-Oh, the mythical Pokémon. According to legend, the Rainbow Wing only glows in the presence of a pure-hearted Trainer."

His gaze shifted to Johan.

Did this mean Johan had been blessed by Ho-Oh?

"Pure-hearted… Johan?" Flannery looked back and forth between Johan and the feather, her expression incredulous.

Rainbow Wing, are you sure you've got the right guy?

Johan pretended not to hear her and frowned. "It seems like the Rainbow Wing is trying to guide us to something."

Standing up, he held the feather aloft and began walking.

Sure enough, as he moved in a certain direction, the feather's light grew brighter.

Before long, the group reached a towering cliff.

The jagged rocks cast eerie shadows under the moonlight.

The Rainbow Wing pulsed urgently in Johan's hand.

"Is it here?" he murmured.

Suddenly, Flannery froze.

"Wait… do you hear that?"

Everyone fell silent.

"I thought it was just me," Roxanne whispered.

Steven smiled. "I hear it too. A faint, melodic sound."

"What kind of sound?" Johan asked, puzzled.

Steven explained, "There's a legend that says when the Millennium Comet appears, a Jirachi might awaken."

He continued, "It's said that Jirachi can be awakened by a pure heart… or a song."

"Are you saying Jirachi might be sleeping inside this cliff?" Roxanne asked.

"It's possible," Steven nodded.

"Then let's break it open!" Flannery suggested enthusiastically.

"Wait, we can't just destroy the landscape!" Roxanne protested.

Before they could debate further—

"Ka-kaah~!"

Gengar popped its head out of the cliff face, waving its arms.

"Hey! There's a hollow space inside!"

Johan: "…"

So, Jirachi might really be in there?

And I didn't hear its voice?

As the supposed pure-hearted holder of the Rainbow Wing, this was a bit embarrassing.

Closing his eyes, Johan focused his aura.

His aura radiated outward, painting a mental image of his surroundings.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes and looked up.

In the moonlight, a sleek, white Pokémon stood atop the cliff.

Its red eyes gleamed, and a curved blue horn jutted from its head.

Absol.

Known as the Disaster Pokémon.

Legends said that whenever Absol appeared, a natural disaster followed—earthquakes, floods, storms.

However, in truth, Absol wasn't the cause of disasters.

It simply had the ability to sense impending danger and appeared to warn people.

Johan's expression darkened.

In the past, Absol had been linked to the awakening of Jirachi…

Could something be about to happen?

Just then—

BAM!!

With a deafening crash, Steven's Aggron punched through the cliff, revealing a dark cave.

Steven stepped forward, holding up a glowing crystal.

"We found something!" he called out.

Johan took the crystal from him.

It was cool to the touch, shimmering faintly.

But something felt off.

Was this really related to Jirachi?

Before Johan could activate his aura again—

BOOM!!

Flames erupted, and Charcadet stepped forward, its flames blazing fiercely.

"Who's there?" Johan called out.

A stern voice responded.

"Clawitzer! Use Water Pulse!"
