Pokemon: Psychic Master

Chapter 293: First Camping Experience (BONUS)

"Why didn't we just fly there?"

After finding a perfect camping spot, Johan's group of four headed toward the location on foot.

Along the way, Flannery voiced her curiosity.

Although the only flying Pokémon they had were Steven's Skarmory, Metagross, and Johan's Dragonair, it wasn't impossible to fly there. Metagross was large enough to carry two people, and combined with Skarmory and Dragonair, they had more than enough transport capacity.

Johan straightened his expression and replied seriously:

"We're here for camping and adventure. It's not just about the destination, but also the journey and the scenery along the way."

"The journey and the scenery along the way…"

Roxanne repeated Johan's words, her eyes lighting up with admiration.

As expected of a teacher. His words even had a poetic ring to them.

Steven nodded in agreement.

Plus, he might find some rare stones along the way.

Flannery, though still feeling something was a bit off, couldn't come up with a counterargument. She simply nodded, "Oh… I guess that makes sense."

Seeing that they no longer questioned it, Johan sighed in relief.

The truth was—he just didn't want to ride on a slippery Dragonair again! Once was more than enough.

The island where the Battle Frontier was located had large swathes of untamed wilderness.

As the group walked, they encountered numerous wild Pokémon.

Most of the wild Pokémon kept their distance, curious but cautious. Even the more aggressive species took one look at Steven's intimidating Metagross and decided to steer clear.

After a while, Roxanne remarked, "The scenery along the way is quite lovely."

Johan coughed lightly, "Of course."

It wasn't long before they reached a spacious grassy clearing.

A rocky cliff stood behind them, shielding the area from the wind. To the left, there was an oak forest teeming with activity from wild Pokémon like Pidgey, Wurmple, Seedot, and Aipom.

To the right, a vibrant flower field bloomed even in the winter, attracting Beautifly and Butterfree.

In front of them, a gentle stream flowed, where Magikarp, Poliwag, and Surskit splashed about. A lone Magikarp stared blankly at them before sinking back into the water.

"Ka-kaah~~"

Johan's Gengar hopped to the stream and played rock-paper-scissors with the Magikarp.

"Ka-kaah! I won!"

Gengar, who threw a scissors gesture, proudly laughed.

Splash!

In retaliation, the Magikarp splashed water on Gengar's face before diving into the stream.

Gengar froze for a moment, wiped its face, and immediately prepared to dive in after it.

"Gengar, stop messing around. Come help set up the tent."

Ka-kaah~~

Gengar glanced at the water one last time before bouncing over to help Johan.

"Alolan Ninetales, take the others to gather firewood. Be mindful of the wild Pokémon."

"Oowoo~"

Alolan Ninetales nodded seriously. With a swish of its tails, shimmering snowflakes spread in the air, casting a protective aura of auroras around them.

Johan chuckled, "There's no need to be that cautious…"

But Ninetales insisted, believing it was better to be prepared in case any dangerous Pokémon appeared.

Meanwhile, Dragonair splashed in the stream, hoping to catch some fish for their meal.

"Draaa!"

Dragonair excitedly surfaced with a bucketful of Kingler, Magikarp, and Shellder.

Johan facepalmed. "No, no. Put those back! We're not eating them…"

Dragonair blinked in confusion before reluctantly releasing its catch.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky turned a warm orange, and their campfire crackled warmly.

The Pokémon all seemed at peace.

Alolan Ninetales curled up by Johan, wagging its tails lazily. Cubfu punched the air rhythmically while blowing sleepy bubbles from its nose. Gengar and Dragonair splashed around in the stream, while Tinkaton gleefully chopped wood with its hammer.

Charcadet, however, stood with arms crossed, giving a stern lecture to a Crawdaunt and Phanpy who had been squabbling earlier. The two wild Pokémon meekly nodded and scurried away, thoroughly chastened.

Johan chuckled as he observed.

"I think Gengar might lose its 'boss' title to Charcadet…"

After a day of work, it was time to eat.

"All right, it's barbecue time!" Johan announced.

Each Pokémon sprang into action, gathering ingredients and preparing the fire.

"Oowoo~"

Alolan Ninetales wrapped its tails around Johan, cooling him down as he cooked.

Watching this scene, Flannery sighed, "Teacher's bond with his Pokémon is truly amazing…"

Roxanne nodded, "That must be why he's become so strong so quickly."

As they set up for the night, Roxanne fiddled with a telescope.

"Will we really see the comet?" Flannery asked.

"The view is perfect here," Roxanne confirmed. "If the Millennium Comet shows up, we'll see it."

Johan smiled at their excitement.

"Don't get your hopes too high. What we call the 'Millennium Comet' might just be a snack delivery for certain Pokémon…"

"Snack delivery?"

The girls stared at him, puzzled.

Johan chuckled, keeping his suspicions about Jirachi to himself.

Suddenly, he felt a subtle pulse from his inner pocket.

The Rainbow Wing and Silver Wing… they were reacting.
