Chapter 14: The Legend of the Founding of the Unova Region
According to legend, 2,500 years ago, the Unova region was a country founded by a pair of twin brothers and a dragon. The elder brother pursued truth, while the younger pursued ideals.
Due to their conflicting goals, the differences between the brothers grew until they eventually broke out into war. The dragon split into two: Reshiram, representing truth, and Zekrom, representing ideals.
The war was evenly matched, with neither Reshiram nor Zekrom able to defeat the other. Both exhausted their strength, and the twin heroes realized their mistake, bringing an end to the war and restoring peace.
However, after the twin brothers passed away, their descendants reignited the conflict. Enraged, Reshiram and Zekrom unleashed fire and lightning upon the Unova region before vanishing.
The legend of Kyurem is quite different from Reshiram and Zekrom's. In Lacunosa Town, it's said that in ancient times, another Dragon Stone fell from the sky in the Giant Chasm, transforming into Kyurem. At night, Kyurem would appear with icy winds, abducting people and Pokémon for food. To protect themselves, the residents of Lacunosa built high walls around the town and imposed a curfew.
However, in the games, Drayden of Opelucid City tells a different story. According to him, Kyurem is the empty husk left behind after Reshiram and Zekrom split. The DNA Splicers passed down through the generations in Drayden's family are said to be linked to Kyurem. These Splicers, as old as the Dragonspiral Tower itself, enable Kyurem to absorb either Reshiram or Zekrom, transforming into White Kyurem or Black Kyurem.
No matter which legend is told, in the Black and White games and animated movies, it is highly likely that the Light Stone and Dark Stone, incarnations of Reshiram and Zekrom, rest within the Dragonspiral Tower.
However, the Spiral Secret Realm, which mirrors the Dragonspiral Tower, has been thoroughly explored countless times. If the stones ever existed there, they may have been taken long ago by unknown individuals.
---
The next day, the weather was perfect for an adventure. Victor stood in line at the toll booth outside the entrance to the Spiral Secret Realm.
The Spiral Secret Realm, which has been thoroughly explored by the Alliance, has been fully opened to the public in recent years. Anyone who meets the requirements can purchase a ticket to enter.
Victor's current partner, Carbink, is only at the Ordinary Level, so his access was granted thanks to a professional-level Pokémon lent by his father as protection.
Pokémon: [Arcanine]
Type: [Fire]
Gender: [♀]
Ability: [Intimidate]
Level: [56]
Item: [Charcoal]
Moves: [Bite, Flame Wheel, Extreme Speed, Fire Fang, Crunch, Flamethrower, Play Rough, Flare Blitz, Thunder Fang, Heat Wave, Roar, Swift, Sunny Day, Psychic Fangs, Rest, Sleep Talk, Morning Sun, Wild Charge, Close Combat, Outrage]
As a Gym Leader, Victor's father maintains a team of Pokémon at varying strength levels. This Arcanine, part of his second-tier team, was strong enough to protect Victor in a realm where the most powerful Pokémon were only at the professional level.
When it was Victor's turn, he presented the certificate his father had arranged, allowing him entry into the secret realm.
Beyond the ticket booth was a room containing the spatial gateway to the Spiral Secret Realm. The gateway appeared as a swirling vortex five meters in diameter. Though inside the room, it connected directly to the wild forest beyond.
Crossing through the gateway, Victor experienced a brief sensation of weightlessness before arriving at the Spiral Secret Realm.
---
Victor landed on a grassy plain just outside the forest.
Because the landing location in a secret realm is randomized, early explorers faced significant risks—some landed near valuable resources, while others found themselves at the mercy of powerful predators.
As soon as he arrived, Victor released Carbink from its Poké Ball and extended his Aura powers five meters around him, staying alert for potential threats.
With a quick survey, he determined there were no immediate dangers. His primary goal for this trip was training, so after some thought, Victor instructed Carbink via Aura to prepare to explore the forest ahead.
---
The forest was alive with sounds. Bird Pokémon called out from above, while the roars of unknown Pokémon echoed in the distance.
Relying on his Aura, Victor sensed a Pokémon within range.
It was a brown, mouse-like Pokémon with a long white tail tipped with an upright tuft. Its red-and-yellow eyes darted around cautiously.
Pokémon: [Minccino]
Type: [Normal]
Gender: [♂]
Ability: [Keen Eye]
Level: [8]
Moves: [Tackle, Leer, Bite, Endure]
The Minccino seemed like the perfect opponent for Litten to train against. Victor instructed Carbink to step back, giving Litten space to battle. He released Litten from its Poké Ball.
"Meow~!" Litten landed gracefully, its eyes fixed on the Minccino.
"Squeak squeak squeak!" The Minccino dropped to all fours, baring its teeth in an attempt to intimidate.
But Litten, unimpressed, let out a low growl, activating its Intimidate ability. The Minccino froze in fear.
Victor seized the opportunity, commanding Litten to close the distance and use Revenge. Before the Minccino could react, Litten struck with a powerful attack, knocking it out instantly.
Victor praised Litten, stroking its head and rewarding it with a spicy energy cube. After ensuring the Minccino's wounds were treated, Victor continued deeper into the forest with Litten and Carbink at his side.
