Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Complete Victory (Sad)
When Rookidee swooped in front of Carbink, the Reflective Wall had already been fully formed.
"Rookidee, use Random Attack on Carbink!" Roman gave the command to attack directly.
Rookidee used its claws and beak to frantically strike the Reflective Wall.
As a result, after all the attacks, only a few faint white marks remained on the outer shell of Carbink.
"Fly up and increase the height!" Seeing that Rookidee's attacks were ineffective, Roman quickly instructed Rookidee to return to the air.
"Prepare to use Brave Bird Attack!" Roman gave the attack command once again, showing some doubt.
Rookidee's small blue body was surrounded by dazzling blue light, and its red eyes locked onto Carbink.
Normally, it would be impossible for Rookidee to learn the Flying-type special move, Divine Bird Attack, at this stage. However, Pokémon can learn moves through inheritance, and Rookidee had inherited Brave Bird Attack.
"Carbink, use Ancient Power to fight back!" No matter how strong the Brave Bird Attack was, Rookidee couldn't fully release it yet. After all, it had taken Victor a long time to teach Carbink Light Screen and Meteor Beam.
As Victor pondered, he commanded Carbink to use its moves to fight back.
"Na na!" (Ancient Power!)
While shouting the move, Carbink condensed five football-sized stones of Ancient Power in front of it and launched them towards Rookidee.
Just as the Ancient Power was about to hit Rookidee, the Brave Bird Attack was finally ready.
Rookidee dodged two of the Ancient Power projectiles with all its might but was hit by the remaining three.
The large bird formed from blue light collided with the Ancient Power. It broke through one… two… three stones, and finally crashed into the Reflective Wall.
The Brave Bird Attack, still surrounded by blue energy, slammed into the wall. Eventually, it was exhausted.
The giant bird formed by the blue energy began to dissipate, and Rookidee, trapped inside, fell to the ground, completely exhausted.
"The battle is over. Carbink wins!"
Tessa immediately announced the result.
"Oh my..."
Victor smiled and said to Roman, "I'll take you with me next time. Go to the healing device to restore Rookidee's strength. It's your turn to battle with Tessa in the next round."
---
After treatment from the healing device, Rookidee was fully restored, and this time Victor acted as the referee.
"Go, Machop!"
Tessa sent out her Machop, following the same starting stance.
Victor knew that Tessa's family had a martial arts secret manual that could be taught to both humans and Pokémon. The starting moves that Tessa and Machop used were undoubtedly her family's inherited martial arts techniques.
"Rookidee, I'm counting on you again!" Roman called out, sending Rookidee back into the fray.
"This time we'll attack from behind. Rookidee, use your claws first!" Roman instructed, preparing for a stronger counterattack.
"Machop, jump up and use Bullet Punch!" Tessa ordered.
Machop jumped with surprising agility, reaching three meters in the air to meet the oncoming Rookidee, whose claws were extended.
A thin gray light covered Machop's fists, and Rookidee was knocked to the ground by a series of rapid blows.
"What the heck!? Why is Machop so fast and strong?" Roman exclaimed, shocked by Machop's jumping ability. He couldn't believe how easily Machop was hitting Rookidee one after another.
Just as Roman was about to give further orders to Rookidee, a flash of lightning suddenly struck his eyes.
"Damn it, how does it know Electric-type moves??"
The Thunder Punch hit Rookidee before it could take flight again. The electric current coursed through Rookidee's small body, causing it to lose consciousness and fall.
"Rookidee has lost the ability to fight. Machop wins!"
Victor immediately announced the result.
"Let me go, why are you two so ruthless? Tessa, I didn't expect you, Victor, to be so strong!" Roman was speechless.
Though he had made good progress, seeing these two in action made him doubt his own abilities.
"Ahem." Victor pretended to cough and signaled Tessa to restore Machop's strength.
"Okay." Tessa nodded, walking over to the side to restore Machop.
Soon, Tessa and Machop stood ready on the battlefield, ready to face off against Victor.
---
"Carbink vs. Machop, the battle begins!" Roman announced as the referee.
As soon as the match started, Machop rushed straight toward Carbink, seemingly intent on not giving it a chance to build up its defenses.
Victor had no intention of defending this round. He commanded Carbink to use Dazzling Gleam on the surface of its body, preparing for a head-on clash with Machop.
"Na na!" (Guard Split!)
After Carbink activated its Dazzling Gleam, it faced Machop head-on.
Roman looked on in surprise. "You still have that trick? I didn't think you'd use it now!"
Tessa's face became serious as she commanded Machop to use its full strength: "Gather energy, then unleash Thunder Punch with everything you've got!"
With mana gathered into its fists, Machop seemed to sense a weakness in Carbink's body. The fists were surrounded by yellow electricity, and Machop crossed its arms to unleash the full force of Thunder Punch.
"Boom!" In the fierce clash between Dazzling Gleam and Thunder Punch, ultimately proved superior.
Machop was pushed back step by step, unable to maintain its Thunder Punch. Finally, Carbink's Dazzling Gleam overwhelmed Machop, knocking it away.
Machop fell to the ground, its eyes glazed over as it lost the ability to fight.
"Machop loses the ability to fight. Carbink wins!"
"Na na na~!" (We win~!) Carbink happily jumped in front of Victor.
Victor squatted down and patted Carbink's head in encouragement, then looked at Roman and Tessa, who were walking over.
"I lost. I'll train harder and we'll battle again after the exams," Tessa said, clearly unwilling to lose.
After all, trainers need the determination to keep winning.
"Okay, then let's review and talk about what happened." Victor nodded and suggested they discuss their strategies.
---
After pointing out the shortcomings of both Machop and Rookidee, Victor said goodbye to Roman and Tessa, then returned home.
At this time, the rewards for completing the system tasks were stored in the system space.
Victor selected the [Hold] skill-learning machine from the space grid and used it on Carbink.
Although there were some drawbacks to why he couldn't learn skills himself, Victor decided to first teach Carbink some defensive skills.
There was also a Guard skill-learning machine for his second Pokémon.
Victor's father had contacted him the previous night to inform him that his second Pokémon would soon be sent to the China Alliance.
After today's two battles, Carbink's level had risen to level 19.
Pokémon: Carbink
Attributes: Rock, Fairy
Gender: None
Characteristics: CLEAR BODY
Level: 19
Moves: Impact, Harden,Dazzling Gleam, Meteor Beam, Reflective Wall, Light screen, Ancient Power, Defense Bisection, Crazy...
In today's two matches, Carbink didn't use its full strength.
When fully focused, Carbink can summon more than ten Ancient Powers. Additionally, Dazzling Gleam can actively release light attacks instead of just using it as a shield for direct clashes. Carbink also has Meteor Beam, which hasn't been fully utilized yet.
Victor estimated that if Carbink were to go all out, it could defeat a Pokémon at the peak of the normal level.
