Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Silph Co.
"Machamp, it's your time to shine! Let's see how strong you've become after evolving!" Ron called out with excitement.
At Ron's command, Machamp could no longer contain his eagerness. Using Soru (Shave), he charged forward into his first battle post-evolution, facing off against two opponents simultaneously.
Across from him, Arbok and Weezing exchanged glances, their long-standing synergy evident as they prepared for the fight. The two Trainers, who had been traveling together since becoming Trainers, relied heavily on their ace Pokémon, and their teamwork was second to none.
Weezing began with Smog, aiming to limit Machamp's movements, while Arbok followed closely with Poison Fang, releasing a faint purple mist of venom from its fangs.
However, a glimmer of disdain flashed through Machamp's eyes. With a simple stomp, he launched himself out of Weezing's smog cloud.
In a blur that seemed like teleportation, Machamp appeared behind Arbok, who looked utterly shocked.
The evolution had significantly boosted Machamp's stats, including his speed when using Soru. With all four arms striking at once, Brick Break rained down on Arbok's back. The sheer force of the blows felt like being trampled by an Onix.
Though Machamp wasn't yet strong enough to move mountains, his power far exceeded that of his pre-evolved form, Machoke. The only drawback was that Machamp still struggled to control his full strength, necessitating the use of his Power Belt to avoid injuring himself during regular battles.
This imbalance, however, also meant that Machamp's raw strength was unmatched among his peers, giving him a significant edge in future battles.
Arbok, barely able to stand after the attack, drew a quick response from Weezing, who unleashed Psychic—one of its inherited moves—to disrupt Machamp's assault.
Sensing Weezing's counterattack, Machamp opted not to press his advantage, disappearing with another use of Soru.
Realizing Machamp's incredible speed, Weezing quickly released Toxic Gas for protection. But despite its quick thinking, it couldn't outpace Ron's strategy.
Using Dual Chop, Machamp delivered a ferocious double-handed strike that seemed to rip through Weezing. Sent hurtling to the ground, Weezing was still technically able to battle but was in too much pain to rise.
Landing gracefully, Machamp dashed to Arbok's side. Before Arbok could react, Machamp grabbed the snake-like Pokémon and wielded it like a whip, repeatedly slamming it against the fallen Weezing.
It wasn't until both Arbok and Weezing were utterly spent that Machamp finally let go, reluctantly stepping back.
In less than two minutes, the two Level 38 Pokémon had been soundly defeated by Machamp.
Throughout the battle, the two Trainers remained silent, too terrified of Persian to utter a word. When the dust settled, however, their shock was evident.
Before they could process what had happened, Ron gave Persian the signal.
Scarlet blood splattered as the two Trainers desperately clutched their throats, collapsing lifelessly to the ground.
The moment they decided to follow Ron, their fates had been sealed—especially after Ralts sensed their malicious intent.
Ron methodically sorted through their belongings, pocketing anything of value. Truthfully, neither Trainer had much to offer; their Pokémon were the only remotely valuable assets.
After disposing of their bodies, Ron resumed his journey, his energetic Machamp wreaking havoc on the forest's wild Pokémon population.
Machamp's elite-tier strength turned every encounter into a one-sided beatdown, especially against the deeper forest's more formidable Pokémon.
For most Trainers, venturing deep into the forest carried significant risks. Without access to reliable healing items or resting points, their Pokémon would struggle to recover from prolonged battles, making such expeditions perilous.
This reality was a key reason for the slower progression of Pokémon strength among average Trainers—survival took precedence over risk.
But Ron was no ordinary Trainer. With his cheat-like advantage, he pushed through the forest with ease, and Machamp showed no mercy to any elite-tier wild Pokémon in his path.
Even mid-tier elites weren't spared as Ron tested Machamp's limits. With his staggering strength, uncanny speed, and the long-term enhancements from his Fighting Aura, Machamp shattered the usual constraints of his level. He could now defeat Level 41 Pokémon—a feat unheard of for most Trainers.
Though the level gap was only two, the jump from elite low-tier to mid-tier represented a monumental difference in power. Such battles were beyond the wildest dreams of most Trainers.
While Machamp dominated his battles, Persian and Bellossom were far from idle. Ron continually sought opponents for them, ensuring consistent growth even if the goal wasn't immediate level-ups but laying the groundwork for future breakthroughs.
In the Pokémon world, forests were often the quickest route despite their dangers.
After factoring in time spent battling, Ron eventually emerged on the outskirts of the forest, only a short distance from Saffron City.
The moment Ron stepped into Saffron, he couldn't help but marvel at its grandeur. The largest and most prosperous city in the Kanto region, it made Pewter and Cerulean seem quaint by comparison.
With its sprawling infrastructure, magnetic-levitation train connecting to Johto, and even two Pokémon Gyms, Saffron City reminded Ron of the bustling metropolis he knew in his previous life.
Unfortunately for the Fighting Dojo, its fame paled compared to Sabrina's Psychic Gym. Having lost its status in Gym Leader challenges, the dojo had faded into obscurity.
As Ron wandered the city, he noticed entire streets dedicated to Pokémon-related goods. Yet, without sufficient funds, he could only admire them from afar.
Reaching the city center, Ron's attention was captured by a massive banner. Silph Co., headquartered in the heart of the city, had spared no expense on its display. The message left Ron in awe of the company's wealth and influence.
