Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: A First Experience

The next morning, before Ralts had even fully woken from its dreams, Ron forcibly dragged it up for washing, breakfast, and a trip to the rented training room.

Even as Ron finished putting on his training gear, Ralts was still lost in existential musings: Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going?

"Ralts, it's time to train."

After adjusting the weights on Ralts, Ron gave a reminder.

Unfortunately, Ralts was still in a daze. Understandably so—having grown up under the protection of its parents, it had never needed to endure such rigorous training.

Even during its time as a wandering Pokémon, Ralts had only sought to survive, without any structured way to grow stronger.

Suddenly being thrust into training left it feeling disoriented and unprepared.

"From now on, whenever we're in a town, training starts every morning," Ron explained. "The first step is running. Just follow me."

Seeing Ralts' confusion, Ron patiently elaborated before starting to jog.

Upon seeing this, Ralts hesitated no longer and quickly followed.

To grow stronger, a bit of running didn't seem like a big deal to Ralts.

What Ralts didn't know was that Ron's running regimen only ended when absolute exhaustion was reached.

Even a Machoke, with its immense strength and stamina, would hit its limit under Ron's carefully calibrated weight training. For Ralts, on its very first day, the challenge was even greater.

After a little over ten minutes, Ralts' legs began to ache, its entire body occasionally felt weak, and it could only continue by taking deep breaths to muster strength.

When it felt it couldn't go on any longer, Ron slowed down to run beside it.

"This is just the beginning of your training. If you can't handle it, you're free to leave. I won't force you to train anymore. But if that's your choice, I doubt you'll ever avenge your parents," Ron said, his tone firm but edged with meaning.

Though Ralts wanted to rest, it found itself unable to utter the words. Instead, it summoned renewed determination to keep going.

Thanks to its unique ability to sense emotions, Ralts could perceive Ron's underlying care and encouragement, despite his seemingly harsh exterior.

But even with Ron's unconventional encouragement, Ralts, unaccustomed to this type of training, inevitably collapsed first.

After a brief recovery brought on by Ron's energy-channelling technique, Ralts would wake and join Ron again. This cycle repeated three times before the running portion of the training finally concluded.

The rest of the day consisted of diverse exercises, as Ron worked to build strength in both himself and Machoke.

Inevitably, Ralts was the first to collapse in every activity, often multiple times before completing a single task.

To motivate Ralts further, Ron had Machoke demonstrate Shave (Soru), one of the techniques from the Navy's Six Powers.

Seeing the almost teleportation-like speed of Shave reignited Ralts' drive. It trained with even greater fervor, hoping to one day master Shave and other Six Powers techniques.

During the training, Ron noticed subtle changes in his own body, likely the result of consuming the Golden Spirit Fruit. While its primary effect was to enhance defense, the fruit's immense energy was gradually reshaping his overall fitness. Training now felt significantly easier than before.

After finishing the morning training, Ron spent the afternoon searching for suitable opponents for Ralts, helping it gain battle experience.

Most trainers who encountered Ralts couldn't recognize it, and even their first-generation Pokédexes lacked detailed information on it. This obscurity worked to Ron's advantage, drawing more trainers to battle Ralts and giving him an edge.

As for the risks of exposing Ralts, Ron had considered them but didn't find them overly concerning.

Psychic-type Pokémon were rarely captured by humans and were often associated with psychics. The possibility that Ron might be a psychic himself would deter most from making a move against him, as offending a psychic could carry dire consequences.

To those unfamiliar with psychics, they seemed mysterious and powerful. Combined with the reputation of Ghost and Psychic Pokémon as assassins, few dared provoke a psychic owning such Pokémon.

Even those aware of the varying strength levels among psychics would hesitate to target Ron's Pokémon, given the challenges of controlling Psychic-types without their recognition.

Even if forcibly taken, a Psychic Pokémon like Ralts could use Teleport to escape at the first opportunity, rendering even Poké Balls ineffective in recapturing it.

Moreover, Ralts' ability to sense emotions allowed it to warn Ron of any potential threats. Paired with its Teleport, Ron's safety was relatively assured.

This was why Ron had chosen Ralts over a Gastly.

Through battles, Ron learned that Ralts, now at level 11, had not only its naturally learned moves but also Confusion, Synchronoise, Misty Terrain, and Ally Switch.

Its rare ability, Telepathy, further highlighted its potential.

In the games, Telepathy prevents damage from allies' moves. In reality, it allowed Ralts to communicate effortlessly with other creatures and vaguely sense the direction of incoming attacks.

As Ralts grew stronger, its senses would sharpen, giving it a tactical edge in battle.

After a day of training and battling, Ralts returned to its room and collapsed from exhaustion.

Even with Ron's energy technique alleviating hidden injuries, Ralts acutely felt the fatigue and pain. The thought of repeating it all tomorrow filled it with a dread that words couldn't describe.

"Rest early. We'll continue tomorrow," Ron said, stroking Ralts' small head.

"Remember, all your hard work and struggles now are for the sake of becoming stronger tomorrow. Every bit of pain you endure is one bit of weakness leaving your body and will bring you closer to avenging your parents."

Using his technique to soothe Ralts' body while delivering motivational words, Ron found the strategy highly effective.

Though it felt a bit like the empty promises of a manipulative boss, the results were undeniable. Ralts' spirit was reignited, ready to face the next day's trials.
