Pokemon - A real story

The upfront declaration earned Axel a lot of rumors and a lot of gossip. He knew that Cynthia was pissed cause he had injured her main Pokemon. But such a declaration was not necessary. Now, Axel started to feel more pressure from this competition. He hoped that Charizard had become strong enough by training with Ninetales.

"You should not have dreams that could never come true. Be realistic.", said Axel with a smile and turned around and went to his own way.

Axel just wanted to act cool. But this had infuriated Cynthia to no end. He was going to realize it in the future.

"Ladies and Gentlemen and all of our Pokemons, welcome to the Blaze family Pokemon competition. I know all of you are excited to get the battle started but I want to first take a few moments to thank all of you for making this possible..."

Noah was on a roll today. He had been talking for 15 minutes now and everyone was listening to him with rapt attention. He was quite a popular mayor.

"For today, we have some new participants who are from our own Hakone city. They are young, hard working and talented trainers and I want them to show what they are made off.

But that is not all. Except for all the Blaze family members, including me and Axel, there are some outsiders that want to participate in this competition.

The first are the commanders who have helped us massively in tide battles last time. Let's welcome them with open arms."

They were also very popular in Hakone city. Without them, the city would have lost a lot in the last tide battle. They were welcomed as a hero.

"Then we have 3 other outsiders. They are quite influential. They are young and a genius of their generation. Let's welcome, Lance, Steven, and Cynthia..!!!"

Unlike the commanders, these 3 were not welcomed. Some of the crowds were cheering for them but most of them were booing them to no end. In addition to the gossips, rumors and fight between the tourist and people of Hakone city, their reputation was not so high.

Steven felt a prang of embarrassment as he, Cynthia, and Lance started to walk towards the stadium.

Cynthia noticed it and said, "What did you expect? We are in a different region and this is not our home. They would not be cheering for us."

"But still, I never expected that so many people would hate me with passion.", said Steven.

"Get used to it. When I win against Axel, their booing might even be more hardcore.", said Cynthia brimming with confidence.

"You are that confident that you can win against him, huh?", asked Lance.

"Yes, I am that confident."

The first round was the competition for common-rank Pokemons.

None of the commanders, Cynthia, Lance, Steven, and even Axel's family had common rank Pokemon.

The ones that had were only those 5 trainers from Hakone City. Axel also had 3 Pokemon who were at common rank.

Aron, Koffing, and Pawniard.

Koffing and Pawniard had just started their training while Aron had been training for a while now.

Those 5 trainers had registered 1 Pokemon each for the common rank.

The Pokemons that would be fighting in the common rank are:

Aron Koffing Pawniard Skiddo Rattata Vulpix Mankey Machop

The names of these 5 trainers were, Rosh, Garath, Seema, Arjan and Anjali.

"Guys, do you think that we can win against Axel's Pokemon?", asked Anjali.

"I don't think that we can. I mean, Pawniard is weak against my Vulpix but I don't think that my Vulpix can win against it.", said Rosh with a sigh.

They had been given this chance but they knew how far behind they were compared to geniuses like Axel.

"I am going to win at least one battle anyhow.", said Arjan with a determined face.

The first round of common-rank Pokemons started.

Koffing was actually fighting against Pawniard while Aron was going to deal with Mankey.

The result of the battle was the surprising to Axel. Even though Koffing was an incredibly defensive Pokemon, it still lost to Pawniard. Axel had told it to not use the move 'Explosion' as this was friendly match.

With its 'Fury cutter' which was now in late level 30s, Pawniard was able to win the battle. Even though it took some time as it had to deal with 'Substitute' and also 'Pain split', it was able to win the battle.

In the second round of the battle, it was Aron vs Skiddo and Pawniard vs Vulpix.

"It must be my lucky day. My Vulpix fire-type move is super effective against Pawniard."

The battle of Aron and Skiddo was hard to determine. With so many resistances and its good defense and attack, Aron won the battle.

But the battle between Pawniard and Vulpix was what drove the attention of the crowd.

"Will Pawniard be able to win the battle? It is weak against fire types."

Both of the Pokemons were now standing waiting for battle. After hearing the referee's command, both of them got ready.

Vulpix started with 'Quick attack' while Pawniard used the move 'Iron defense'.

'Iron defense' would increase its defense but this would make it a bit slower. Yet, Pawniard had not issue with it. It was not that Pawniard was slow but Vulpix was faster than it.

So, it chose defense against agility.

Vulpix was fast and it hit Pawniard in the stomach. Pawniard had taken a defensive stance before taking the hit. After that, it immediately used the move 'Thunder punch' on its face. Since Vulpix was in close proximity, it could not dodge the attack.

BANG!!!

It was flown back by the impact as it crashed on the ground.

Common rank Pokemon don't have such higher defense that it would last longer in battle. But Vulpix was not going to stand down.

It immediately stood up and used the move 'Sunny day'. It had now realized that it could not win a physical battle against Pawniard. So, it was going to try a different approach.

After using the move, the heat on the stadium increased by a notch. It was not scorching but it was warmer than before.

Pawniard took the chance to use the move 'Swords dance'. It could use it only once right now but that was enough for Vulpix.

Vulpix used the move 'Flamethrower' but this time, Pawniard was able to dodge it. It rushed towards Vulpix but was hit by the move 'Fire spin'.

The move was very deadly at a time like this. Vulpix gave a low roar as the stream of fire went towards Pawniard and it could not dodge it this time.

The fire hit Pawniard. But that was not enough. Vulpix began to actively manipulate the fire that had struck Pawniard.

"PAWNNN"

Pawniard had suffered from a burnt status. This was not going too well for Pawniard.

Super effective moves were very deadly when a Pokemon was common rank.

Pawniard was in a disadvantageous position right now.

Axel realized that he should have taught it a special type move so that it would not have suffered like this.

But there was no time to train them and Pawniard had to act fast if it wanted to win this battle.

Pawniard rushed forward and dodged another 'Flamethrower' but was hit again by 'Confuse ray' of Vulpix.

This Vulpix was trained quite well by its trainer. Even though it was just a common rank Pokemon, it could pressure Pawniard to such a stage.

Pawniard closed its eyes and only taught to its legs and where it was standing. It tried to feel Vulpix who was rapidly coming towards it using the move 'Flame charge'.

'Flame charge' was not only powerful but it also increased the speed of the user. But Pawniard dodged the move just before it was hit.

Even Axel didn't know how it was able to do it. It was burned and confused. There was no way it would have dodged the 'Flame charge' in a normal circumstance.

But it did it.

Then it turned back and used its swordy hands to strike Vulpix. This was the move 'Lash out'. The power of the move would double if the user if the stats of the user were lowered in some way. This included the health points but the power would not double when a health point was decreased.

The power of the move would increase if more health decreased. Obviously, this was only possible because the move had leveled up to 40 and had been upgraded.

SLASH!!1

Pawniard slashed with its swordy hands and then spun around to hit with its swordy chest and head.

The move was very deadly and that was what was needed for Pawniard to finish the battle.

Vulpix's defense was not much higher and it had been hit by 'Thunder punch' before. It was a battle of common-rank Pokemon, so it finished quite fast.

"The final battle of the common rank round would start in 30 minutes."

The final battle was interesting because it was between Axel's Pokemons.

"Sigh, I thought Vulpix had it. But the battle was very interesting.", said Rosh.

He was so close to winning this battle. But Vulpix had lost.

After some time, Aron and Pawniard stepped up to the stage. Even though Pawniard was hurt by being burnt, it was just a burning attack of a common rank Pokemon. So, it was quickly healed and brought up to its highest physical state.

"Are you both ready to battle?", asked the referee.

Both of them nodded their head.

"Let the battle begin!!!"

With that shout, both of them got ready for battle.

Aron was the older one. It used the move 'Iron defense' to increase its defense and then it used the move 'Earthquake' to hit Pawniard.

Pawniard stepped forward and made a long jump. It didn't want to be between that devastating 'Earthquake'. It came near and used a powerful 'Sucker punch' on Aron.

It was basically a slash filled with dark-type energy.

But Aron was not hurt much by that attack. Due to its passive move 'Greater shield', its defense would rise higher when it health or its defense increased. So, when it used the move 'Iron defense', its actual defense rose a lot.

Pawniard was actually a bad match for Aron. Aron had very high health and defense and Pawniard didn't have a special type move.

The battle went on as Pawinard started to use multiple moves but Aron also had many special type moves like 'Bullet seed' and 'Stone edge' that was quite deadly for Pawniard.

At the end, the defense of Aron was quite hard for Pawniard to beat. But then, something amazing happened.

Pawniard had many injuries on its body and it was hurt in many places. It health was an time low.

So, the passive move 'Warrior's pride' activated refilling its health and stamina to some level. It was now ready to battle again.

It rushed towards Aron and then used the move 'Lash out'.

Even with the recovery, its health was still very low. The passive move on increased its maximum health by 20% which was quite low for a common rank Pokemon.

A dark glow appeared from its swordy hands and it struck Aron with all of its power.

BANG!!!

Aron was flown high in the sky and it crashed on the ground with that move.
