Open the door, there is another world

Chapter 18: 18

"Lady Lala is very happy," said Pekai with a smile.

Kaito nodded. "It was the same last time I came here. I had fun the whole time. Is life in the palace that depressing?"

Pekai shook his head and said, "Lady Lala is a genius. She learns quickly whatever the palace teachers teach her. Besides, the King and Queen are very kind to her. Basically, Lala can do whatever she wants, so she doesn't feel depressed!"

Kaito nodded. "Really?"

"It's probably because she's never experienced these kinds of things," Kaito added.

Pekai nodded. "Indeed, there's nothing like this in the palace."

Kaito gently nodded, looking at Lala and Mikan as they tried on clothes at a beautiful boutique in front of them, and he couldn't help but smile again. "Girls will be girls—they can't resist pretty clothes."

He also stepped inside to take a look. At first, he just wanted to ask Lala and Mikan if they wanted to buy anything, but he ended up seeing the price tags.

A price of 1,599 was clearly displayed. Then he glanced at the amount of money Lala was holding—2,099.

Kaito suddenly fell silent. He couldn't decide whether to buy it or not.

He shed tears of poverty.

Shaking his head helplessly, Kaito left the store with Lala and Mikan.

"Let's come back and buy it when I have more money," Kaito said.

Lala smiled and nodded. "Okay!"

She didn't mind, since she could use Pekai or her disguise machine to make all kinds of clothes. So it didn't matter if she couldn't buy them—she could just create some.

Mikan didn't want to buy anything because it wasn't her home, and she couldn't bring herself to spend someone else's money on clothes she wanted. Going to someone else's home and causing trouble wasn't something she'd allow herself to do.

Soon, the group went off to explore another area.

Kaito shook his head and smiled. The clothes were expensive, but he could still afford some snacks, meals, and a few toys. Overall, they had a good time. However, by the time they got back, he had less than 2,000 yuan left.

It was like spending money as if it were water.

When they returned, Mikan and Lala were still full of excitement, but Mikan suddenly remembered something: she had come here to observe differences in a parallel world—not just to go on a trip abroad. And all she had done today was play. She hadn't done any serious investigation. That made her feel a little helpless, but she quickly regained her composure.

Of course she'd be drawn to new things on the first day—it was normal to have fun.

She just had to get back to work. So she began carefully observing different places again.

The best way to find differences was by watching the news—it covers international events, and any inconsistency would be quickly noticeable. So Mikan turned on the TV and watched the news. She found that the prime ministers of many countries were different. Then she browsed through entertainment news—especially from her home country—and found that many celebrities were different too, with completely different appearances.

It really is an amazing feeling.

"It's truly a parallel world," Mikan thought to herself, starting to feel the reality of it.

She sat on the couch watching TV in awe. Pekai flew back and forth beside her. Mikan looked at him and asked, "Pekai, do parallel worlds exist to you aliens as well?"

Pekai stopped in front of Mikan and shook his head. "No. Lady Lala hasn't discovered the existence of parallel worlds either."

"I see," Mikan nodded.

Parallel worlds were truly magical. The environment was the same, but the developments were totally different, and people were completely different too.

Didn't they say Earth was unique? Yet in a parallel world, nearly everything existed just the same. It was truly incredible.

Even more incredible than aliens.

Mikan sighed in her heart. At that moment, Kaito came out, looked at her, and said with a smile,

"Don't overthink it—just enjoy yourself."

Mikan nodded, took a deep breath, and let the topic go. She came from a generous world, and what Kaito said made sense. There was no use overthinking these things.

She just needed to know that this reality existed. So she quickly moved on and started looking for other interesting things.

Kaito smiled and said, "People from the World of Great Heart really do live up to their name."

Mikan was curious. "World of Great Heart?"

Kaito smiled and shook his head. "Nothing."

"Oh..." Mikan replied, a bit confused. She had the feeling that Kaito was hiding something from her, but she didn't dwell on it. There were too many TV programs here she had never seen before, and now she was completely drawn in by them, so she didn't care about anything else.

Kaito didn't disturb her. He smiled and returned to his study.

In the office, he looked at the computer still running the stock trading program and saw it had made a small profit. Then he left and went to his room.

He opened his palms and activated his magical power. Golden sparks circled above his hands, forming a ring. Kaito shook his head and muttered,

"Still too little magical power. I can't use it at all."

Do I really need to borrow magical energy?

Kaito sighed. He wanted to keep exploring other worlds, but he feared running into danger and not being able to protect himself. Magic was his means of self-defense.

But right now, his magical power was too weak, and he couldn't use any spells effectively. That gave him a headache.

But then he remembered: this was the Earth without mystery, not Marvel's Earth of mystery. So, the magical energy on this Earth shouldn't have an owner, right?

In that case, using the external magical energy here wouldn't count as borrowing. That was very likely.

Kaito's eyes lit up, and he began to experiment.

Sitting cross-legged on his bed, he relaxed his mind and used his own spirit and magical energy to connect with the external energy of the world.

At first it was difficult, but because he already had some magic within him, that made it possible to initiate contact.

Gradually, Kaito began to feel the vast energy of the outside world. Just like the Elder had said when teaching him mirror space:

"As long as there is life in the world, magical energy must exist. The only difference is whether one can perceive it."

Now, Kaito could feel it.

He felt like he was floating in a vast ocean, with infinite magical energy all around him.

Kaito took a deep breath. The amazement in his eyes was uncontrollable.

He hadn't expected the magic on this Earth to be so strong—and no one had ever discovered it.

The initiation into magic was just as the Elder had once told him: there was a huge difference between being qualified and not.

Kaito focused his attention on the surrounding magic:

magic representing vitality

magic representing fire

ice and snow

darkness

light

time and space

All kinds of elemental magic were densely present everywhere. Kaito could absorb any magic he wanted, but time and space magic suited him the best.

Because his affinity for space-time magic was very high.

Kaito extended his spiritual reach into the network of space-time magic, and immediately, that energy began to flow into his body.

His previously weak space-time magic suddenly expanded.

There was no sense of another will—this magic had no owner—so Kaito could absorb as much as he wanted.
