The night was silent, a stillness stretching across the room.

Kai, lying on his simple cot, opened his eyes with an unnerving calm. He straightened his back, sitting upright as the Seven-Star Sword, emanating a faint, eerie green glow, materialized from his palm. The blade quivered ever so slightly, as though attempting to convey its restless intent.

"It's been three years," Kai murmured, his voice steady yet carrying an edge of steel. "And you still haven't given up? Each time I draw upon your power, you force me to relive that nightmare. But you must understand—Alan is me, but I am not Alan."

He exhaled slowly, his gaze unwavering as he addressed the blade. "He was merely a fragment of my soul. Demi… I will bring her back, but I'll do so with strength under my control."

The blade's green light dimmed, and its trembling subsided. Gradually, the Seven-Star Sword melded back into his body, disappearing without a trace.

Kai paid it no mind. The once-wild weapon had grown far more docile over the years. It was, after all, an unthinking tool. A fool without true intelligence.

Now, Kai existed with an unshakable rationality, accompanied by two secondary personalities entirely under his control.

The first was a personality born from Alan's soul fragment, embodying kindness and compassion. Kai referred to it as his benevolent persona. It was this aspect of himself that gave him the confidence to serve in the Navy, masking his true intentions beneath an impeccable guise of virtue. With acting skills so finely tuned, who could compete with someone acting as their true self?

This benevolent persona also allowed him to fully utilize the innate talent of his body—the extraordinary Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki). Like Aisa of Skypiea or Princess Otohime of Fish-Man Island, he could peer into the hearts of others when their guard was down, reading their intentions with unnerving precision. Though not as potent as true clairvoyance, it remained a remarkable advantage—a gift for beginning his journey on this treacherous sea.

The second personality, however, was an entirely different force. It emerged from the otherworldly soul that had crossed time and space to inhabit this body—a soul filled with relentless killing intent. Kai called it his murderous persona.

This persona was his wellspring of power, amplified by the Seven-Star Sword's insidious nature. The weapon consumed the life force and souls of those it killed, funneling the accumulated energy back into Kai. It was the key to his meteoric rise in strength, elevating his physical prowess to rival even Zoan-type Devil Fruit users in just three short years.

By hunting and eliminating the fearsome Sea Kings that roamed nearby waters, Kai had cultivated a near-limitless reservoir of energy. This pragmatic reliance on the Seven-Star Sword was why he had no interest in consuming a Devil Fruit. Why confine himself to the sea's boundaries when the entire ocean was a battlefield?

Kai' ultimate ambition lay in the abyssal depths near Fish-Man Island, where colossal Sea Kings spanning thousands of meters awaited. They were his ultimate quarry—the very foundation of his ascent to the apex of this world.

Even so, human souls, particularly those of formidable individuals, offered the sword far more potent sustenance. Thus, Kai had set his sights on Impel Down. Joining the Navy gave him the perfect opportunity to hunt the most dangerous criminals under the guise of justice.

The master persona, his dominant consciousness, maintained absolute control over these fragments of himself. At will, Kai could switch between his benevolent and murderous states, weaving an impenetrable facade even the most skilled users of Observation Haki could not unravel.

Under this tripartite equilibrium, his main personality wielded a charisma akin to a leader's aura. His words carried weight beyond reason, inspiring unwavering loyalty among the younger recruits. Though this effect was only effective on those with weaker souls and wills, it further cemented his position within the Navy.

Kai was fully aware of the complex moral dilemmas that came with his new identity. Chief among them was the question of the World Noble, a challenge no Navy officer could ignore. His soul-suppression abilities ensured he could temper his emotions, even in the face of the repugnant actions of the World Nobles.

"Killing a World Noble won't change the world," he mused. "Without dismantling the World Government, it would only worsen the suffering of those left behind. Empty vengeance only invites greater calamity."

Kai had no illusions about being a hero. He saw himself as neither savior nor villain, disdaining those who masked selfishness with the guise of righteousness.

But the murderous persona? That was a different story. Under the shadow of a different identity, he would unleash his wrath without restraint. After all, as the saying goes, "A mask creates a separate man."

The next day, the golden rays of dawn crept across the horizon. The world awaited, and Kai—calm, calculating, and unrelenting—was ready.
