Chapter 25: Chapter 25: World of Illusion

Shanks truly lived up to the title of a Yonko. Even while trapped in such a dire situation, he was still able to remain calm and think rationally.

But no matter how logical he was, this time he wasn't up against someone from the pirate world—so all his reasoning was meaningless.

Tsukuyomi was a genjutsu cast through the Mangekyō Sharingan, a technique that forcibly dragged any opponent who made eye contact into an illusionary world created by Rikuya.

Once someone saw his activated Mangekyō, they would be instantly caught in the illusion.

In the world of Tsukuyomi, everything—time, space, even mass—was under the caster's absolute control.

The target would suffer excruciating physical and psychological torment.

It was hailed as the most powerful mental attack.

Under normal circumstances, Tsukuyomi couldn't be broken, unless the opponent had a stronger Sharingan or an overwhelming level of mental fortitude.

Clearly, Shanks didn't have a Sharingan.

At the same time, in order to weaken Shanks' mental resistance, Rikuya had immediately constructed a fake reality—a vast ocean and chains made of Seastone—to make everything feel incredibly real.

And yet, despite how perfect Rikuya's illusion was, Shanks still immediately realized he was trapped in a genjutsu!

Rikuya knew that just bluffing wouldn't break someone like Shanks.

So, he had to escalate things.

The next moment, a sword appeared in Rikuya's hand.

When Shanks saw that sword, his expression changed dramatically.

"Griffon?!" he exclaimed.

The sword Rikuya was holding was none other than Griffon, Shanks' very own saber.

Of course, it was a conjured illusion—but only Rikuya knew that. To Shanks, it looked and felt completely real.

"If you've got the guts, kill me here!" Shanks shouted.

Truth be told, he was beginning to feel a creeping sense of despair—something he hadn't experienced in years.

Not even the mighty Roger had ever made him feel this powerless and afraid.

"Huh. I've never had anyone ask me to kill them before... but since it's you, I'll grant your request."

Wait, what? He's doing it for me?!

Shanks was completely dumbfounded by Rikuya's response.

Just moments ago, Rikuya refused to give him any face. Now, just one offhanded comment and he was actually taking it seriously?

Before Shanks could even sort out his thoughts, Rikuya's illusionary sword plunged into his chest.

"AAAH!"

Even with his formidable body and top-tier Armament Haki, Shanks couldn't ignore the pain.

A surge of agony shot through his entire body.

"It's bleeding, y'know," Rikuya said casually, pointing to Shanks' abdomen with mock surprise.

Shanks looked down—and sure enough, blood was gushing from the spot where the sword pierced him!

It was all fake… and yet the pain felt so real!

As he stared at his bleeding body, Shanks began to doubt his own conclusion.

"Damn it… what is this?!" he cursed under his breath.

On Rikuya's side, he was already sweating heavily.

Using the Mangekyō Sharingan gave him access to broken techniques like Tsukuyomi, but it also came with a price.

According to Naruto lore, overusing the Mangekyō could eventually lead to blindness.

Rikuya knew this clearly—just like when he had used the Eight Gates earlier, this body he was inhabiting still had his original physical limitations.

Which meant if he kept using it, his vision would fail.

And once his eyes were ruined, no matter which ninja character he possessed next, his vision would never return.

His body was like a container—once shattered, it could never be used again.

He could already feel the side effects of prolonged use gnawing at his vision.

"I've got to finish this… fast," he thought grimly.

Without hesitation, Rikuya yanked the sword out.

Shanks instinctively let out a painful cry.

Even so, he refused to submit.

Seeing this, Rikuya realized he had no choice—he needed to use his finisher.

Shanks' mental strength was far beyond average; he wouldn't break so easily.

With a single thought, Rikuya reshaped the illusion.

Suddenly, five elderly men appeared around Shanks.

"Th-The Five Elders?!"

Shanks was utterly stunned when he saw them.

One of them—dressed in a black suit, with white curly hair, a fluffy beard, a flat hat, and a scar across his left cheek—stepped forward.

"Shanks… you've disappointed us. You gave up your arm—for a child!"

"Indeed. You're nothing now. A cripple like you has no value anymore," added another, dressed in a navy-blue suit, with long, straight white hair and a long beard.

"Enough talk," said a third man, wearing a dark green suit, bald with two drooping mustaches and a birthmark on his forehead. "Let's end him. We don't have time to waste."

The rest nodded in agreement.

Watching this scene unfold, Shanks nearly lost it.

Up until now, he had assumed everything was an illusion created by Rikuya.

But this… this conversation with the Five Elders felt so real that he began to question whether he was still trapped in a genjutsu at all!
