Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Recruiting Crew Members

When Rikuya recognized him, Douglas Bullet was visibly stunned.

He had been gone from the world for so long that even the higher-ups of the Marines had forgotten this terrifying man still existed in Impel Down.

But now, this young man in front of him actually knew who he was—something that genuinely surprised him.

"You… actually know who I am? Looks like you're not just some average punk," Douglas Bullet said as he struggled to stand up.

Seeing him admit to being Douglas Bullet, Rikuya was equally shocked. He had thought this guy was long dead.

Douglas Bullet was once a crew member of the Roger Pirates. He was terrifyingly strong—even his own crewmates called him a "monster."

He was known as the Devil's Heir, a man who crushed all opposition with overwhelming strength. His power was on par with Rayleigh, the "Dark King," who had served as the Pirate King's right hand. Compared to the other pirates imprisoned here, Bullet's strength was in a league of its own.

However, like the rest, he was shackled with Impel Down's special seastone cuffs, rendering all his abilities useless.

Plus, Rikuya had used the near self-destructive Seventh Gate of the Eight Inner Gates to defeat them all—so it was no wonder they crumbled before him.

"Douglas Bullet, I know all about you. In fact, I admire you. So I'm giving you two options.

One—follow me, and I'll take you out of this forsaken place.

Two—I beat you into submission, and you stay locked up here forever, never to rise again. You decide."

After some thought, Rikuya extended an olive branch.

Bullet's strength far surpassed the others on this floor. Even Rayleigh had never been able to beat him. If Rikuya could gain someone like that as a crewmate, his power would skyrocket.

Since he had already gone against the World Government, Rikuya knew that many dangers lay ahead. If he could get someone this powerful to run errands and fight on his behalf, it would save him a lot of trouble.

"Hah! A brat like you thinks you're worthy of someone like me? What a joke," Bullet sneered with contempt.

After all, he was from an older generation—immensely powerful. Although Rikuya had just defeated him, he was currently powerless due to the seastone cuffs. Naturally, he didn't accept the result.

In the world of pirates, might makes right. Strength is everything. Even if Rikuya tried to help him escape, Bullet didn't respect him—not yet.

"I know you only believe in your own strength. You desire to be Pirate King more than anyone.

But you're not like the others. Most want the Pirate King title because of the treasure—but not you.

You want to EARN it through battle. Even if someone gave you the eternal pointer to Laugh Tale, you wouldn't take it.

Your dream is to surpass Roger—to become the world's strongest.

You want to defeat all the Yonko and Navy Admirals. Isn't that right?"

Rikuya's words struck Douglas Bullet like a thunderbolt out of the blue, shaking him to the core.

Everything Rikuya said was spot-on. It was as if the boy had read his mind.

If Rikuya hadn't come from the lower floors, Bullet would've suspected he'd somehow overheard him talking in his sleep.

Seeing Bullet fall silent, Rikuya knew he had hit the mark.

"If you want to become the Pirate King and defeat the strongest, then you should ally with me.

Because that's my goal too—to defeat the world's strongest and stand at the very top.

So how about this? You fight by my side. And when we finally reach the peak of this world, **you and I will settle things with a final battle. Sound good?"

Taking advantage of Bullet's internal struggle, Rikuya pressed the attack.

Douglas Bullet, for his part, clearly understood the situation.

He wasn't Shiki the Golden Lion—he had no way to escape on his own.

If he didn't take this chance, and the World Government sent reinforcements, security would become airtight again.

By then, not even Shiki would be able to break out.

After some contemplation, Bullet finally made a crucial decision.

"What's your name?"

"Rikuya Kazama."

"You get me out, and I'll temporarily follow you and guarantee your safety.

But the day we both stand at the top of the world—I'll become your greatest enemy."

Bullet spoke with dead seriousness.

"No problem. Deal."

Rikuya held out his hand.

Bullet slowly reached out his own.

And in that dark prison, the two made a world-shaking pact.

But just then, a system message rang in Rikuya's mind.

Ding! The Might Guy character card's time limit has expired. Reverting host to original state. Please take caution.

As soon as the voice ended, Rikuya returned to his original body.

Although the Might Guy form had vanished, his real body had to endure all the pain brought on by using the Eight Inner Gates.

After all, the character card merely possessed his body—it didn't shield it from actual damage.

As soon as the Seventh Gate deactivated, Rikuya collapsed instantly.

His natural physique was nowhere near Might Guy's, so the moment he reverted, a wave of excruciating pain tore through his body.
