Chapter 24: 24
Once upon a time, there was a truly great pirate crew in the world, known as the Sun Pirate Crew.
Anyone who knew their story could hardly avoid being moved by it.
However, this pirate crew had been divided, and the current faction was led by Knight Sea Jimbei, one of the Oka Shichibukai, who inherited the Sun Pirate Crew's name and reputation.
Another faction fled to the East Blue, and they were the Arlong Pirate Crew.
Cocoyashi Village, a small village in the East Blue, is now the territory of the Arlong Pirate Crew, the heart of the Arlong Empire, and the headquarters of the Arlong Pirate Crew is right here.
As pirates, they boldly occupy territory without the Navy coming to suppress them. This was something that only the Four Emperors or the Shichibukai could achieve. However, the Shichibukai rely on their identities, while the Four Emperors rely on their strength. The Arlong Pirate Crew, however, relied on bribing the Navy.
"Captain Mouse?!"
Upon hearing Reinhardt calmly explain the situation of the Arlong Pirate Crew, Francklin gritted his teeth in anger, "Scum! The worst of the Navy! The Arlong Pirate Crew forcibly seized over twenty villages, yet the Navy didn't even notice! This scum!!"
To think that he was colluding with pirates!
Francklin was furious.
But after the anger subsided, he felt somewhat desolate, realizing he was no different from Captain Mouse.
Reinhardt nodded in approval, "Money is a good thing, everyone wants it. But we all know, with money, you can deceive people, but money can't deceive everyone; only then can you call yourself a person."
"My friend, I'm truly saddened that there are such parasites in the Navy, but we must never forgive them."
Francklin didn't know what to say.
This mentor of his, had he truly forgotten who he was, and what he had done in Loguetown?
However, no matter what, Reinhardt's thoughts were the same as his, so he nodded repeatedly, "Of course."
It wasn't long before the warship arrived at the outer waters of Cocoyashi Village.
At this time, inside Cocoyashi Village, the base of the Arlong Pirate Crew, within the Arlong Musician's quarters.
A fishman leapt out of the water from the pond, signaling toward the sea.
"Arlong! A warship has come here!"
"Warship?"
In the shade of the building, a fishman with sharp nostrils, resting on a wide lounge chair, opened his eyes. "Is it that Mouse fellow?"
The fishman replied, "The ship's insignia doesn't seem to match his."
"Ha ha ha! That's interesting! Could it be they're here to suppress us?"
Arlong sat up, laughing loudly, "Which of our comrades is willing to go and handle them?"
"Me, me, me!"
"Let me go, Big Brother Arlong!"
"It's been a long time since we had some fun! Let's make sure to enjoy this thoroughly!"
The group of fishmen jumped around in excitement, completely disregarding the warship sent to suppress them, and even eager for some playful action.
Arlong casually pointed at a few fishmen, his thoughts clear— in the sea, the fishmen were unmatched. How could mere humans be a threat? With a slight adjustment to the volcanic seabed, he could easily manipulate the current to destroy the warship.
The group of fishmen jumped down and directly leaped into the pond.
The warship gradually approached Cocoyashi Village, but instead of docking directly, it circled the island, preparing to take a detour and have the Arlong Musician's crew directly collect the fishmen from the other side.
"Hmm?"
While sitting on the deck reading a book, Reinhardt suddenly raised an eyebrow. "Francklin, there's someone at the seabed."
"What?"
Francklin was stunned. "The seabed?"
Where could there be an enemy at the seabed?
But he immediately changed his expression. Normally, the seabed wouldn't have any enemies, but this time, it was different. The enemies were fishmen!
Reinhardt closed the book. "Alright, you can't do anything to him. Let me go and assist."
At the seabed, the fishmen who were preparing to manipulate the volcanic seabed to change the current and destroy the warship above suddenly felt their bodies uncontrollably rise, as if a massive, invisible force directly grabbed them and pulled them toward the surface of the sea.
Soon, with a few ripples on the surface of the water, several fishmen with strange appearances flew out of the water and were controlled by Reinhardt, landing on the deck of the ship.
The deep water was perfect for catching these fishmen without much effort.
"What... what's going on here?"
The fishmen were completely bewildered.
Before they could say anything, the Navy, acting belatedly, opened fire and directly turned them into a sieve.
"Continue forward!"
Francklin gritted his teeth.
If it hadn't been for Reinhardt's words, he feared he wouldn't even have made it past this door.
And yet, he still had to rely on him!
What a humiliation this was!
This humiliation must be washed away!
The warship continued moving forward, and soon the distinctive style of the Arlong Musician came into view.
"That's the Arlong Musician!"
Francklin raised an eyebrow. "This style... feels somewhat familiar."
"Huh? Francklin, you've been to the Sabaody Archipelago too?"
Reinhardt chuckled. "The style is indeed quite similar; calling it imitation wouldn't do it justice."
Arlong was a pure racial supremacist, full of disdain toward humans.
But in reality, his Arlong Musician was modeled after the style of the Sabaody Archipelago—where his son had once been.
Inside the Arlong Musician, the fishmen also saw the approaching Navy warship.
The fishman Chew licked his lips and said, "Arlong, the Navy has arrived at our doorstep."
"In other words,"
Arlong stood up, his narrow, elongated pupils narrowing further as he took a step forward.
"Those compatriots have failed!!"
