One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Kaido's Command

The bounties for Holdem and his crew had just been published in the newspapers. Holdem, seeing his name and bounty for the first time, was ecstatic. Even Rim, who noticed his own bounty increase to 110 million berries, couldn't contain his excitement and hugged Master tightly.

Master, caught off guard, blushed and looked shy, causing Jack to silently turn his head away with a grimace. The scene was, frankly, hard to watch.

Still, Jack quickly shifted his focus to another matter. Alongside the new bounties for his crew, the paper also featured several others, including a name that stood out to him: Fisher Tiger. With a bounty of 230 million belly, Fisher Tiger was ranked just below Jack.

Tiger's pirate crew was composed entirely of Fish-Men, a fact that intrigued Jack. Their group's name, The Sun Pirates, was both bold and powerful.

"The Sun Pirates…" Jack muttered.

"The sun in this world… "

Jack couldn't help but feel curious about this crew. As a Fish-Man himself, his memories of their shared heritage were faint at best. He barely remembered anything about Fish-Man Island, except that the mermaids there were reputed to be stunningly beautiful.

He had once hoped to recruit a crew of Fish-Men, but that dream had faded. Fish-Men held a low status in this world, with most humans looking down on them as little more than sea creatures. Fish-Men who made it to the New World were even rarer, so Jack had abandoned the idea altogether.

As a child, Jack had worn a steel mask to hide his sharp teeth, concealing his Fish-Man heritage. That disguise was born of necessity—his identity brought him nothing but scorn and abuse, leading to deep-seated insecurities about his race.

But now? Jack didn't care. When you have power, no one dares to hate you—Fish-Man or not, no one would dare insult you if your fists were big enough!

Hearing about the Sun Pirates reignited Jack's ambition to gather a Fish-Man crew.

"Maybe when they make their way to the New World, I should pay them a visit," he thought.

Just then, the shrill ring of a Den Den Mushi snapped him out of his musings.

"Brrrr… Brrrr…"

"Brrrrr…"

Jack searched for the sound's source, but before he could locate it, a sudden and powerful urge struck him.

"Urgh…" he muttered, a faint look of discomfort crossing his face.

Finally, he found the Den Den Mushi in his back pocket, looking near-death from the noxious fumes it had endured. Jack sighed, fanned away the stench, and prepared to administer mouth-to-mouth.

But before his lips could make contact, the snail's eyes shot open.

"Brrrr… Brrrr…"

Jack picked up the receiver.

"Hello? Who's this?"

"King? Oh, it's you."

"What? I see."

"Understood! Leave it to me. I won't fail!"

By now, the rest of the crew had gathered around, noticing Jack's increasingly serious expression.

When the call ended, Rim was the first to ask, "Captain Jack, what's going on? Are we finally going after those two?"

"Rim, calm down," Jack replied, fully understanding Rim's eagerness.

Rim's burning desire for revenge stemmed from a personal tragedy: the death of his mother at the hands of two enemies. Though he had a hereditary illness that weakened him, Rim had endured and grown stronger, fueled by his unrelenting quest for vengeance.

When Jack proposed taking time to train and grow stronger on the sea, Rim had agreed, knowing that Jack's strength would increase his own chances of success.

"Rim, Holdem, Master," Jack addressed his crew, his tone firm. "My bounty poster has made its way back to Wano—and not everyone is pleased."

"Specifically, some of the Tobiroppo think I'm nothing more than a regular Shinuchi. They don't believe I deserve to be called a All-Star, on par with King or Queen."

"Because of that, Kaido has issued me a direct order: I must deal with those two targets before the year is out."

Jack's words caused a ripple of excitement among his crew.

"King also gave me some good news," Jack continued. "Those two have left the New World for now, taking some of their crew to the Grand Line. This is our chance."

Jack's eyes glinted with determination.

"We're leaving immediately. First, we'll destroy their base, and then we'll head to the Grand Line. Our allies there will provide their exact location."

"Rim," Jack said, turning to him. "You know where their hideout is, don't you?"

Rim broke into a wide grin, unable to contain himself. He burst out laughing, his voice echoing across the deck.

"Hahaha! Of course, Captain! I've been preparing for this for years!"

Pulling a compass from his pocket, Rim declared, "I've kept the eternal log pose to Kui Island with me this entire time!"
