One Piece: Marine's Justice

Chapter 61: A Dying Struggle

BOOOOOM—

A thunderous explosion shattered the air. Far in the distance, a massive shockwave erupted, sending smoke and debris spiraling into the sky. The earth quaked beneath the blast's force.

"Y-Your Grace!!"

Oli Baka's eyes bulged in fury. With a roar of pure rage, he lunged at the now-visible figure of Borsalino, screaming hysterically:

"Die!!! Muscle Barrage Cannon!!!"

In an instant, Baka's grotesquely bulging muscles swelled like coiled dragons, his massive frame growing even larger, like some monstrous muscle-bound demon.

He hurled his fist forward with tremendous force, punching so fast it created a flurry of afterimages. The sheer pressure of his blows whipped up a violent gale that tore the topsoil from the earth.

"How terrifying! What a monster. Ama no Murakumo!"

Borsalino puckered his lips lazily around his cigarette, palms pressed together as he summoned a gleaming sword of light into his hands.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!...

The next second, the light blade danced through the air, slicing through the sea of fists with a barrage of slashes.

The shockwaves from their clash radiated outward in bursts, distorting the very air within a radius of dozens of meters.

Any ordinary human caught in the zone would likely suffocate from the sheer pressure.

"MUSCLE HEAVY CANNON!!!"

Suddenly, Baka let out a furious bellow, pouring every ounce of power into a single punch.

BOOOOM—

His fist tore through the air at supersonic speed, generating a violent shockwave like a heavy artillery shell. The ground caved in under the impact, leaving a crater over five meters wide.

A brutal gust surged outward, hurling countless shards of rock in all directions like shotgun pellets.

Had any civilians been present, they'd have been torn to shreds.

But Borsalino had already anticipated the blow. He had transformed into light and ascended high above the battlefield, now glowing like a radiant golden cross in the sky. From this vantage point, he unleashed a barrage of dazzling light bullets straight down.

Yasakani no Magatama!!!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!...

Light bullets rained like a golden monsoon, covering the entire battlefield in relentless bombardment. Explosions erupted nonstop as the terrain was shredded and scorched.

Overhead, Cross hovered astride his black metal dragon, wind battering his face as he watched the chaos unfold. He couldn't help but exclaim with awe,

"Logia users are seriously broken... this is absurd!"

"Divine Thorn Spear!!!"

Suddenly, a furious roar echoed across the battlefield.

Cross's expression shifted, an ominous chill crawled down his spine. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a black-brown thorn spike erupting from the ground below.

Too fast!

Far too fast!

Before Cross could react, the massive thorn had already extended hundreds of meters upward, driving straight into the body of the black metal dragon like a hot knife through butter.

On instinct, Cross twisted his body. The spike, now extended to its full terrifying length, barely grazed his shoulder, ripping a chunk of flesh and cloth away.

A gust like a blade howled past, carving open his left shoulder. Blood spurted into the air.

The spike retracted almost immediately, leaving only a fist-sized hole in the dragon's metallic body, its surface unnervingly smooth.

Only a beat later did Cross's nerves register the pain.

"Son of a... that hurts like hell!!"

Cough... cough, cough...

Across the scorched battlefield, Uren clutched his mouth, blood seeping between his fingers as he coughed violently. His pale face twisted in fury as he growled hoarsely,

"Damn it... just barely missed...!"

Uren knew the truth, this was his end.

And the end of the Impaler Pirates.

But he refused to go down without a fight. If he had to die, he'd take someone with him.

As fate would have it, Cross had crossed his path at just the wrong time.

Still, whether through luck or instinct, Cross had narrowly escaped death, suffering only a flesh wound.

But Uren's failure sealed his fate, because now, he had enraged two elite Vice Admirals of the Navy.

"Vlad Uren, you're seeking death!"

Ice Block: Partisan!

Kuzan charged forward, fury in his eyes. Four massive spears of ice formed out of thin air and shot forward with a piercing whistle.

But Uren's last attack had drained him. He was slow to react, he barely dodged the icy projectiles, stumbling from sheer exhaustion.

ZWWWWWW—

The next instant, a beam of golden laser light streaked across the battlefield like a shooting star, drilling straight through Uren's chest.

BOOOOOOM—

A deafening explosion erupted behind him, a searing pillar of fire engulfing the terrain in a dome of raw destructive energy. The ground quaked as if struck by an earthquake.

Faced with the combined assault of ice and light, encircled by two of the Navy's strongest Vice Admirals, the wounded, exhausted pirate finally met his end.

The Battle of Carocal Island ended in a decisive Navy victory. The entire Impaler Pirates crew, over 700 strong, was annihilated. Most were killed or captured. Only a few dozen managed to flee.

Thus, the once-feared Impaler Pirates were erased from the Grand Line.

In that battle, the Navy slew:

Captain "Impaler Duke" Vlad Uren, with a bounty of 760,000,000 Berries.

Combat Commander "Gladiator Fiend" Oli Baka, with a bounty of 380,000,000 Berries.

Ship doctor "Polluter" Bel von Gero, with a bounty of 375,000,000 Berries, was captured in critical condition. However, he later committed suicide by poison, catching his guards off-guard.

As for the Navy's losses, only a little over 300 personnel killed or wounded, and one Commodore severely injured. In military terms, the casualties were negligible.

However, Sculpture City Skoggy, one of the battle zones, suffered tremendously.

According to post-battle assessments, 12 AH-40 Plague Bombs had been detonated, infecting 196 individuals, all of whom succumbed to the virus within 40 minutes. None survived.

The chaos unleashed by the Plague Bombs caused riots and stampedes, killing or injuring more than 2,000 civilians. Gangs and looters took advantage of the confusion, adding to the death toll and economic losses.

Worst of all, Skoggy's greatest pride, its sculptures, were devastated.

That day, a bizarre phenomenon occurred: 80% of the city's sculptures and statues mysteriously came to life, running and flying away across the city.

Most eventually returned, but a number of statues with wings or mobility ended up leaving with the Navy's fleet.

And so, a strange and comical scene played out across Skoggy...

Statues and sculptures wandering the streets, running about like living beings.
