One Piece : Kaido Brother

Chapter 57: Chapter 57

New World.

A tall, lanky middle-aged man was riding a bicycle—on the ocean's surface.

Wherever the wheels passed, a trail of ice formed behind him.

Occasionally, massive sea beasts would surge from the depths, attempting to devour this audacious human.

But with a flick of frigid air, the creatures would instantly freeze into solid blocks of ice before crashing back into the sea with a thunderous splash.

The man expression was as cold as ice itself.

He wore a bartenders uniform and sported a black-and-white mesh visor.

Standing three meters tall, one of his legs—the one pedaling—was visibly made of translucent ice.

In the bicycle's front basket lay a newspaper.

This man was none other than the former Marine Admiral, Kuzan.

Two years ago, after clashing with the current Fleet Admiral Akainu over political differences and engaging in a fierce battle, he defected from the Marines and joined the Blackbeard Pirates.

Kuzan rode onward, his gaze fixed on an island ahead.

From a distance, the island appeared to host a town with many buildings nestled against the mountainside, their architecture somewhat outdate.

At the island's center loomed a towering peak resembling a massive chimney—clearly a volcano.

Aokiji parked his bicycle beneath a cliff, then erupted into a burst of icy mist, traversing hundreds of meters in an instant before landing on top of the cliff.

Click, click, click.

Rows of heavily armed soldiers lined the wide path, raising their rifles toward him.

Each soldier carried a cross-shaped weapon at their waist, along with tools like fishing nets.

Their clothes were tattered, giving them the appearance of hunters or fishermen rather than professional soldiers.

"Jitte and Seastone nets... Ara ara, weapons meant for dealing with Devil Fruit users, huh?"

Aokiji rubbed his forehead, a hint of exasperation in his expression, before shifting his attention to the two figures standing at the soldiers' forefront—a man and a woman.

The man was oddly proportioned—large head, long legs, standing with his feet turned inward.

His features were comical, adorned with a thin mustache and he wore a gaudy outfit while carrying a sword on his back.

The woman, in stark contrast, had striking blue curls and wielded a longsword.

Dressed in a sleek martial arts uniform, she exuded a sharp, heroic aura.

At the sight of them, Aokiji allowed a rare smile.

"Long time no see, Ain, Binz."

"Shut your mouth!"

The woman—Ain—snapped, drawing her blade in one swift motion and pointing it at Aokiji.

"You joined the infamous Yonko's crew?! Kuzan! You abandoned the justice you upheld your entire life! You don't deserve to say our names, let alone set foot on this island!"

"Ara ara, the quiet little girl from back then has grown so fiery. What a shame."

Kuzan shook his head, sighing.

Binz, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke with a frown.

"Enough talk, Kuzan. You're a pirate now. What are you doing here? You can't possibly be unaware of how much the people here despise pirates."

Kuzan expression stiffened, his voice strained. "I came... to see Zephyr-sensei."

Silence fell over the scene. Ain and Binz stared at him coldly.

"There is no Zephyr-sensei here" Ain spat. "Get lost, Kuzan. If you don't leave now, don't blame us for what happens next."

"Z! I'm looking for Z—Zephyr-sensei!" Kuzan suddenly shouted loudly, causing Ain and Binz to frown, while the surrounding soldiers already had their fingers on the triggers.

Kuzan call received no response, his voice echoing through the desolate town, carrying far into the distance.

Gritting his teeth, his eyes slightly red, Kuzan raised the newspaper in his hand and yelled.

"Zephyr-sensei! The old Fleet Admiral has fallen! Sengoku-san has been killed by pirates!"

"WHAT?" Ain and Binz eyes widened.

BOOM!

A deafening sonic boom erupted as a towering figure shot out from the town like lightning, instantly knocking Kuzan away and snatching the newspaper from his hand.

Kuzan didn't retaliate, tumbling over ten meters before crashing to the ground.

Though he looked disheveled, he wasn't seriously injured.

An elderly man with short purple hair appeared before the crowd.

He wore black sunglasses, his face stern and resolute, draped in a black cape that revealed his muscular chest.

His right arm was a massive mechanical limb, studded with metal tubes, ending in three thick claws.

This man was none other than the former Marine Admiral, a high-ranking officer from the same era as Garp and Sengoku, known by the epithet "Black Arm" Zephyr, the "Non-Killing Admiral."

As a famous high-ranking Marine officer of the old era, Zephyr life was nothing short of legendary.

He was the Marine most exceptional insturctor, having trained countless powerful officers throughout his career.

The previous generation of Marine Admirals—Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru—all achieved tremendous leaps in strength under Zephyr's guidance.

Even later figures like Smoker and most of the Marine Vice Admirals had once been his students.

Originally, Zephyr later years would have mirrored Garp and Sengoku, spent in retirement at Marine Headquarters, instructing recruits and nurturing new talents.

But fate had other plans.

Nine years ago, the training ship under Zephyr's command was ambushed by pirates.

All his beloved students except Ain and Binz were slaughtered, and his right arm was severely maimed.

This tragedy filled Zephyr with rage, but the Marines' subsequent actions left him utterly disillusioned.

Instead of mobilizing forces to eliminate the pirates, the World Government appointed them as allies—the Shichibukai.

This pirate was none other than Whitebeard so called son, Edward Weevil.

Heartbroken, Zephyr left the Marines with Ain and Binz, forming his own Neo Marines, gathering soldiers and civilians who had lost loved ones to pirates, vowing to purge the New World and eradicate all pirates!

After reading the newspaper, Zephyr's massive mechanical arm creaked as he clenched the paper, tears uncontrollably streaming down his face.

"Sengoku! My old friend... What has the Marine become? Why are there more and more scum on the seas? This damned world—I'll destroy it sooner or later! And Borsalino... I told him to focus on Haki training instead of relying too much on his Devil Fruit powers. His abilities may be strong, but they can only suppress weaker opponents. Against enemies with comparable powers, his pathetic Haki mastery is utterly useless!"

Zephyr was filled with intense emotion and burning rage as he stuffed the newspaper into his coat.

Peering through his sunglasses at Kuzan, he angrily demanded.

"Kuzan! I don't care why you joined the pirates—you have your reasons, and you don't need to tell me! Why are you here? Did you come just to deliver the news of Sengoku death?"

Kuzan dusted himself off, stood up, and walked back to face Zephyr.

With solemn determination, he said.

"Zephyr-sensei, I want your help—to kill Caesar and destroy the Beast God Pirates, to avenge Sengoku-san!"
