Chapter 41: gold ingot -39 (bonus)

As the guide, carina took the first seat to Peter's left.

Upon hearing that, she lifted her chin with even more pride.

"Of course, I'm well acquainted with the East Blue. We happened to be nearby Baratie, and it would've been a shame not to bring you all here to try the food."

After Mikita sat down, she set aside the umbrella she always carried with her.

When Carina heard what was said, she felt pleased—but also a little suspicious.

"The ambiance here is elegant... but the food must be very expensive. Were you able to afford it before?"

Carina fell silent for a moment, then blushed and stubbornly replied:

"Of course I could afford it! In fact, I've come here so many times, I'm sick of the food!"

Mikita narrowed her eyes, giving Carina a skeptical once-over from head to toe, then said slowly:

"Ah... is that so?"

As she spoke, she raised her hand and called out:

"Waiter!"

In the next moment, a chef with thick forearms burst out of the second-floor kitchen—he didn't look like a friendly man.

"I'm coming, damn it. The waiter's out, so I have to take the orders myself."

Muttered the head chef, Patty, as he hurried toward Peter's table.

But as soon as he saw the guests, he stopped grumbling, smiled faintly, and rubbed his hands together obsequiously.

"My sincerest apologies, dear customers. All our waiters are gone. I'm Patty, head chef here, and I'll be serving you today."

"All of them quit? Your restaurant is really something..."

Mikita mumbled, while Patty smiled awkwardly, not replying.

Mikita didn't care much about the details. Instead, she looked at Carina, who suddenly seemed nervous, and said playfully, pointing with her chin:

"This lady says she's a regular. Let her order for us."

Patty gave Karina a long look, then muttered, "Really? Why do I feel like she looks a little unfamiliar? But I do forget faces easily…"

He didn't hesitate to pull out his notepad and pen, ready to write.

Facing Mikita's provocative stare, Carina roared inside her heart:

"Damn it! Is Mikita trying to embarrass me?!"

At that moment, she couldn't keep up the act anymore.

Blushing, she opened the menu and randomly ordered a few dishes, then handed it to Hina sitting next to her before crossing her arms and turning away angrily.

Hina took the menu without even looking and passed it to Vivi.

"Five bottles of Galician red wine."

Patty's eyes lit up upon hearing that. He quickly wrote it down and praised her:

"My lady, you have such refined taste. That premium wine suits a noble like yourself perfectly."

Vivi's hand twitched as she held the menu. Had she not known each bottle cost 600,000 to 700,000 Berries, she might have actually believed him.

After the girls each took turns ordering, the menu reached Peter.

Like Hina, Peter tossed it aside and said casually:

"Bring me five servings of everything on the menu. If that's not enough, I'll order more."

"WHAAAT?!!"

Patty screamed, joined by a few customers who'd been watching the unique group since they arrived.

Patty's pen froze mid-air. He forced a smile and cautiously replied:

"Sir, we have hundreds of dishes, and we're not exactly the kind of place that tolerates waste.

Are you sure you want five of everything?"

Peter smiled and said:

"Don't you trust my appetite?"

"To be honest... no."

Patty replied bluntly, then added:

"But I'm more concerned about your ability to pay. As you may know, our prices aren't cheap."

Patty smiled challengingly, waiting for Peter's response.

Bang!

Before everyone's eyes, Peter pulled a gold ingot from his arm and slammed it onto the table.

"Will this do? If not, I've got more."

Patty saw the golden gleam, and with his experience as a former pirate, he immediately knew it was real.

Suddenly, his attitude completely changed. His voice turned honey-sweet:

"Understood! Please wait just a moment, I'll have the dishes out right away!"

He lifted his apron, bowed politely, and ran to the second floor to deliver the news to his colleagues.

"Hey! Couldn't he at least bring us some tea first?!"

Vivi shouted after him, but no response came.

An awkward silence followed. The service here seemed seriously lacking.

But Carina didn't care.

She picked up the gold bar from the table, held it lovingly in her arms like treasure, then rubbed her cheek against it and scolded worriedly:

"Oh my god! How many times have I told you not to spend so extravagantly?!

You already eat so much—no need for fancy food!

We still have plenty of Sea King meat in the pantry to fill you up!

You're all trying to give me a stomachache, aren't you?!"

Peter frowned and smacked her lightly on the head. As she shrieked and clutched her head, he snatched the gold bar back.

"Don't act like it's your money. It's mine—I'll use it however I like."

He said this while tossing the gold in his hand, like a rich merchant flaunting his wealth.

At that moment, Nami, who had just walked in from outside, was watching the scene.

Her eyes sparkled into the shape of Berries, and her legs began walking toward him on their own.

Suddenly, Peter felt like two mountains were pressing on his back, and his body stiffened slightly.

Then, a pair of jade-like arms wrapped gently around his neck, and a fresh scent of oranges reached his nose—he inhaled it instinctively.

"Hey there, handsome...

Would you let me be your girlfriend?"

Peter could feel her warm breath on his ear—and instantly knew who it was.

Just like that, Nami walked straight into Peter's trap.

Exactly as he planned.
