Naruto: The Favorability-Devouring Uchiha

Chapter 16: CHAPTER 16

True filial piety.

The classroom practically radiated with it.

If the Third Hokage heard this rebellious speech… would he beat his own son with the Hokage hat?

Haneda almost laughed. And that line about the evil Shimura Danzō? Beautiful. Deserved a round of applause. Maybe even add naturally evil in front of it next time for extra spice.

Only…

Haneda turned his head slightly, his gaze landing on Kakashi sitting a few rows back. The silver-haired boy had his usual mask on, visible eye calm, watching him.

"You heard everything, didn't you, Kakashi?" Haneda murmured.

"Yeah," Kakashi replied softly with a nod.

Of course he did. This was Hatake Kakashi—graduated at five, chūnin at six, hearing like a hawk. No way he'd miss it.

Kakashi's voice lowered, thoughtful.

"Haneda… my father never really cared about becoming Hokage. What mattered to him was Konoha—and the people living in it."

He paused, fingers brushing his book cover.

"I feel the same. The Will of Fire I inherited… isn't about being Hokage."

Haneda smiled faintly.

"Looks like you've walked out of the shadows, Kakashi."

"Yes. After all, there's always the sun shining—"

"Quiet!!!"

Bam!

The teacher slammed the desk with enough force to rattle the chalk. His voice thundered across the room:

"It's class time! Haneda! Kakashi! Sit down and stop disrupting!!"

Then he swept his glare across the room.

"And the rest of you! Chattering like monkeys! This isn't a market!!"

"Private Marseille, Sensei," Haneda replied innocently—before grabbing Kakashi by the arm and walking out.

"Kakashi and I will excuse ourselves so as not to disturb your class any longer."

"???"

The teacher froze mid-breath, stunned as the two figures vanished through the doorway. He hadn't even mentioned punishment yet! Wasn't this for their own good?!

Watching their silhouettes disappear, he clutched his chest.

What just happened…? Why does this feel like I'm the villain?

Obito, meanwhile, stared after them, thoughts a whirlwind of admiration and jealousy.

That bastard Haneda—so bold! Skipping class in broad daylight… a true role model for our generation!!

Then a pang hit his heart.

But why… why didn't he take me?! He took that smug scarecrow instead?!

Unforgivable!

Outside the Academy

Haneda led Kakashi past the gate, sunlight spilling across the street.

"Haneda… skipping class like this… it feels wrong," Kakashi muttered, guilt tugging at his tone. Ever the model student.

Haneda shot him a sly grin.

"Kakashi, you care too much about rules. Keep this up and someday those rules will chain you down."

He spread his arms dramatically.

"A real man—"

"Stop. Just stop." Kakashi cut him off, eye narrowing.

"You just didn't want to sit in class, did you?"

Haneda chuckled, caught but unbothered.

"Fine, you got me. But to be precise… we're skipping class for the sake of studying."

Kakashi blinked. "Studying?"

Haneda's the same age as me… but he beat me. Could it be—he trains in secret? Is this his hidden effort?

"Yes. Yesterday, I met someone—a brother from my clan. Uchiha Fugaku. He's a jōnin." Haneda's voice held a trace of pride.

"What do you say we go ask him for advice?"

"A jōnin from the Uchiha clan…?"

Kakashi's single visible eye brightened. Ever since that defeat, curiosity about the Uchiha had gnawed at him.

"If I can see a real Uchiha elite… that's worth the trip."

"Then let's go." Haneda smirked. Hook, line, and sinker.

Uchiha Clan Grounds

The district loomed ahead, wide streets lined with traditional houses, quiet and austere.

Kakashi glanced around, voice low with awe.

"So this is the Uchiha compound… big place. But… kind of empty. It feels like only Uchihas live here."

"They do," Haneda said evenly. "The villagers' prejudice, the clan's own pride—it keeps outsiders away. Honestly, most of my clan isn't bad by nature. But many… have closed their hearts. Pursue power above all else."

He gave a soft snort.

"Truth? I don't like dealing with them much. Obito's the only one I'd call warm-hearted."

Kakashi tilted his head.

"Must be tough… living in a place like this."

"Not really. Most are just… tsundere. And for all their flaws, Uchiha protect their own."

Haneda's tone softened.

"For someone like me—no parents, no guardian—the clan gives me an allowance every month. No one bullies me. For Uchiha, preying on the weak is disgraceful."

They turned a corner, approaching a grove dotted with training targets, kunai and shuriken embedded dead-center.

"Here." Haneda cupped his hands and called out:

"Brother Fugaku! I'm here!"

Your golden ticket to Konoha's future is knocking. Don't blow it, Fugaku.

From the trees, a voice answered, clipped and cool:

"…Haneda."

A figure dropped from the branches—a young man with stern eyes and an expression carved from stone.

"You brought someone," Fugaku noted, gaze flicking to Kakashi.

"Yes. My classmate. Hatake Kakashi—son of Sakumo-sama." Haneda's tone carried weight. Hint after hint. Take it, you blockhead. This is your chance.

Fugaku's eyes sharpened briefly… then dulled again. His voice was flat as a whetstone.

"I see. Hatake clan excels in kenjutsu. Uchiha has strong swordsmen too—but I'm not one of them. I can't teach you anything."

Haneda's jaw clenched. Translation: I'm not interested. Please leave.

This guy… no political sense. No wonder you died pathetically.

Forget it. For the sake of my kaleidoscope dream—I'll do it myself.

Haneda's smile didn't falter. But in his mind, he was already grinding teeth.

Even if you don't understand… surely your father does.
