Originally, the plan was to have Yamato stay with Kazuki, letting Kazuki keep an eye on him, and after everything was settled, let Yamato leave. But now it seems pointless. Judging from Kazuki's expression and tone, it's already a good thing he hasn't taken direct action.
"I hate anyone associated with Danzo."
"..."
'It's not just you who hates him. I hate him too!!!' Tsunade couldn't help but feel a headache coming on:
"Alright, Yamato won't be entering the Uchiha territory casually anymore. Don't hold such a grudge. He's innocent in all of this and isn't one of Danzo's people."
"If it can't work with you, then I'll go see Fugaku. I'll disguise him and leave him at the police force."
Spies from various villages were searching for Yamato's whereabouts, but none of them would ever think that Yamato would be hiding within the Uchiha territory.
At least, that's what Tsunade thought.
However, her plan started off poorly, having been shot down by Kazuki.
Fortunately, there were still other options.
Since Kazuki was unwilling, she decided to place Yamato in the police force.
Whether he worked as an officer or a suspect, no one would expect that the person they were looking for was hiding within the police department itself.
Right under the Uchiha's noses.
"Tsunade-sama, about Kazuki..."
"Enough, don't mention irrelevant things again. Because of Danzo and the old man's deep prejudices and targeting of the Uchiha, there's a lot of resentment from them."
Tsunade already had enough headaches to deal with, so she didn't need more complications.
She didn't hold any particular animosity toward Yamato as a person. On the other hand, she couldn't exactly accept him either. Just thinking about the fact that he was a clone of her grandfather made her feel uncomfortable.
If it weren't for the village's best interest, Tsunade wouldn't even want to be near him.
Fugaku was much more tactful than Kazuki.
He had no objections to Tsunade's arrangements and even took the initiative to help conceal Yamato's identity, disguising him as a civilian employee in the police department.
As long as no one checked the family records or forced him to fight, who would ever know that Yamato was hiding within the police force, working diligently on administrative tasks?
It's the calm before the storm.
A recent attack hadn't caused much chaos, but those with insight knew it was merely the calm before the storm, and soon the tempest would sweep through all of Konoha.
The news, which had no restrictions on its spread, had already circulated throughout the village.
The villagers of Konoha were now aware that the village had conducted inhumane experiments, using orphans gathered from the battlefield as subjects. Worse, the village had even turned its dark hand upon its own citizens, with even its ninja falling prey to this evil.
And the ones behind these monstrous acts? It was none other than Danzo, the Hokage's advisor, and Orochimaru, one of the three legendary Sannin and the Hokage's student.
"Oh my god, that's terrifying."
"Tell me about it! At first, I thought it was just a rumor. Who knew something this horrible could actually happen?"
"It's too awful! I can't believe the Hokage would allow Danzo and Orochimaru to carry out such experiments, even providing them with funding and equipment."
As word spread, the villagers' anger began to swell uncontrollably.
The pressure from the Land of Fire would only give the Third Hokage more headaches, but the pressure from the village itself could be enough to strip him of his position and send him home in disgrace, burdened with the weight of his crimes.
Public opinion was overwhelmingly one-sided. Danzo and Orochimaru had become public enemies, hated by all, and even the Third Hokage was not much better off.
In the Land of Rain, at the base of the Akatsuki organization.
An emergency meeting had been called.
All eyes were on Orochimaru, and Kakuzu, who was responsible for the organization's finances, even grumbled:
"Orochimaru, you didn't sell the intel about the bounty club, did you?"
Kakuzu had been working hard to bring in revenue for the organization, but then he found out that despite all his efforts, someone was making more money by selling information than he was by completing missions.
"If I had sold the information, I wouldn't have implicated myself."
Recently, things in the Land of Fire, and particularly Konoha, had gotten lively, with one drama after another unfolding.
After the intel about Root had been leaked, some members of the organization had already begun to suspect Orochimaru, given his past ties to Danzo.
But not long after that, an even bigger scandal broke.
Goodness, Kakuzu could only exclaim: unbelievable!
He started to suspect that Orochimaru was behind the sale of the information. After all, who would sell information and implicate themselves in the process?
After killing several people, Kakuzu eventually found out how much the information had sold for through the bounty club, and the amount was staggering. It made Kakuzu even more intrigued.
"So, the intel is genuine?"
Konan, always eager to strengthen the organization, was hopeful that this could further her dreams of bringing peace to the ninja world.
If Konoha truly had the ability to replicate the powers of the First Hokage, did that mean Orochimaru could do it too?
When she asked him, Orochimaru's face remained expressionless.
"Some of it is true. After experimenting, we found that the cells of the First Hokage are incredibly difficult to absorb. Most of the test subjects turned into trees, with only one surviving."
"Is the leader planning to have me continue these Wood Release experiments?"
Since his defection from Konoha, Orochimaru had joined the Akatsuki.
But Orochimaru had no interest in the Wood Release experiments. All he cared about was immortality!!!
And... he glanced subtly at Pain!
Orochimaru's snake-like tongue flicked across his lips.
Fortunately, he hadn't lost his senses—some things were better kept as private thoughts.
"If we were to conduct Wood Release experiments, it would require a huge budget," Orochimaru's snake-like eyes turned toward Kakuzu, making him frown with displeasure.
Money was hard to come by, and it wasn't going to be easy for anyone to squeeze funds out of him.
"Hmph, enough. I just want to know whether you sold the intel or not."
Want money?
None available.
"No."
Without Kakuzu's cooperation, Orochimaru lost interest.
Even he wasn't entirely sure who had leaked the information.
"Find the one who sold the information. If they have the ability to infiltrate Konoha's secrets and sell it to the bounty club, it means they're enemies of Konoha. The organization could use someone like that."
Zetsu, in charge of intelligence, acknowledged this, stating he would gather more information.
In truth, Zetsu was also curious as to who could have acquired such sensitive intel and sold it to the bounty club.
Pain spoke calmly:
"Orochimaru, team up with Sasori and investigate this matter. Find the one responsible as soon as possible."
Though Orochimaru remained a suspect, the money from the sale of the information wasn't of interest to Nagato. What he wanted was the growth of the Akatsuki.
With his orders issued, Orochimaru had no choice but to reluctantly leave with Sasori. As for Zetsu... He had his own ways of gathering intelligence and didn't need to act alongside Orochimaru and Sasori.
