Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Instructions
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The four moved quickly through the forest.
Satoru was at the centre of the formation, using his Ninjutsu to sense, while the other three, led by Hayama, with Uchiha Itachi and Anko on the two rear flanks, provided protection.
This formation had been maintained for a long time; ever since they eliminated two Kumogakure teams three days ago, they had been patrolling in the same manner.
That day, they went to the agreed-upon rendezvous point in Kumogakure but found no enemy presence. They realised trealisedone in the team they had eliminated had used a special method to transmit information.
That's why they were patrolling rapidly in this formation.
They guarded Satoru, allowing him to sense with confidence.
"Stop."
"Did you find something?"
The four stopped and looked at Satoru.
Grumble!
Satoru's stomach rumbled: "Sorry, I'm hungry."
Anko and the other two were speechless.
Then they found a sheltered spot, hunted some prey, and started a fire to cook.
Sizzle! Sizzle!
"Captain, we've already patrolled the border connecting to the Land of Iron twice, and there's still no trace of the enemy. We still need to send people to the Land of Iron to gather intelligence," Satoru suggested to Hayama , turning the roasted meat in his hand.
These past two days, he wasn't the only one sensing and patrolling. Anko's legless creatures were used for reconnaissance, Itachi was carried into the sky by him to survey with his Sharingan, and even Hayama used his battlefield reconnaissance techniques.
It was a carpet-like search, so to speak.
Aside from taking down a few rogue ninjas who tried to enter the Land of Fire, they had gained nothing.
And they were exhausted.
Working day and night made Satoru miss his wife at home and crave his wife's ramen.
Working people are truly beasts of burden!
Itachi and Anko were also physically and mentally exhausted at this moment, especially Itachi. Though still young, he was exceptionally talented and mature in thought.
But at this moment, beneath his calm exterior, his eyes showed fatigue.
Hayama: "I've already sent a message to Hokage-sama. Next, we'll slow down our patrol rhythm and await Hokage-sama's instructions."
"Yes."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Satoru also relaxed; this was what he had been waiting for, but he couldn't be the one to say it. He was a diligent worker who gave his all for Konoha; how could he say such negative words?
...
"Come on, while we're free, I'll teach you some battlefield experience. This is a great experience from a Ninja who participated in the Third Shinobi World War, you know." Satoru stood on a tree trunk and said to Itachi and Anko.
Hayama glanced at him. This classmate just loved to show off in front of his teammates, but he was unexpectedly steady, experienced, and always able to offer many effective suggestions.
Then he held his tools, sat on the tree trunk, leaned back, and closed his eyes to rest.
"Do you know, back in the Third Shinobi World War, I was invincible, never lost a single battle, striking fear into the enemy..."
Satoru spoke with spittle flying, boasting about his great achievements on the battlefield.
Uchiha Itachi listened with great interest.
"Get to the point. Most of those who lost on the battlefield are dead. Can you stop bragging?" Anko's veins throbbed.
"And you didn't scare anyone to death. On the battlefield, only the White Fang senior and Fourth Hokage-sama struck fear into people; even the Third Hokage and the Sannin couldn't do that..."
She had also experienced the battlefield and thought Satoru had some valuable experience, but he was just bragging?
She exposed him without hesitation.
Uchiha Itachi's eyes lit up upon hearing this: "Can you tell me stories about the White Fang senior, the Fourth Hokage, and the Sannin?"
Anko looked at his innocent eyes, cleared her throat, and felt pleased.
Then she began to recount the glorious deeds of these seniors. Due to being with Orochimaru, some of her memories were sealed, but that was only about Orochimaru-related memories.
She hadn't lived all these years for nothing.
She told the stories vividly.
Satoru was speechless; the focus should be on his glorious deeds, darn it.
However, there were some things Satoru didn't know, and Anko knew more.
For example, the Konoha White Fang and the Sannin's stories, information about these people only appeared in others' memories; he had never truly met them.
Anko was different; following Orochimaru, she had absorbed more knowledge than him through prolonged exposure.
For example, the Konoha White sacrificed his comrades, just like the setting in his previous life, and after the Second Shinobi World War, only Orochimaru was active on the battlefield among the Sannin.
As Anko explained little by little, the two listened attentively.
But Satoru was a bit speechless; shouldn't he be the one bragging about himself?
How did it turn into Anko bragging about others? He had lived all these years for nothing!
And Itachi, upon hearing about the Konoha White Fang senior giving up a mission for his comrades, the Fourth Hokage sacrificing himself to protect the Village, and the Sannin facing a demigod, single-handedly bearing the spirit of holding back the demigod.
Many thoughts flashed through his mind.
These were all the great seniors of the Village, the embodiment of the Will of Fire.
Such hard-won peace should not be destroyed by radical elements of the clan.
"Alright, I'm done."
Anko wiped her sweat; she was tired from talking.
But,
It felt good.
"Finally done. Now it's my turn. I'll teach you some combat techniques," Satoru said.
Ever since he taught a class once, he found that educating others was reinvigorating, especially two famous characters from the original work.
Anko and Itachi listened intently.
One was a disciple of Orochimaru, and the other had mastered his clan.
But Satoru being able to defeat a Jonin showed that his strength was extraordinary, so it was very worthwhile to learn from him.
Satoru didn't just go through the motions; he seriously explained techniques, battlefield intelligence gathering, battlefield first aid, how to provide support, how to design traps, and so on...
These were real experiences.
"Finally, and this is one of the key points..."
As Satoru's words fell, Itachi and Anko became serious. What he had just taught them was incredibly beneficial, and it wasn't even the main point yet!
"Information is a Ninja's life."
Both agreed.
"Analysing the situation is the secret weapon to defeat the enemy."
Both nodded again.
"Learning diverse methods is the foundation for you to counterattack after analysing your current situation and intelligence."
This was profound; both nodded.
"Finally, all of a Ninja's Ninjutsu have their weaknesses. Find it, overcome it, and you will win."
Chirp! Chirp!
Just as Satoru finished speaking and the two were deep in thought, an eagle's cry came from the sky.
Hayama opened his eyes, formed hand signs, and activated a Ninjutsu.
The eagle flew down from the sky.
It landed on his shoulder, and the eagle had a small bag on its back.
Satoru and the other two also looked towards their captain, understanding that Hokage-sama's orders had arrived.
"Captain, quickly see what instructions Hokage-sama has!" Anko was already impatient to show off her skills.
Hayama didn't dawdle; he opened the letter and began to read.
Then his eyes furrowed in a frown, and then relaxed.
