Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Sasuke, You’ve Lost, but Grilled Slippers Are Delicious Too
Seeing the bulging ninja tool pouch at Sasuke's waist and his determined expression, Naruto knew that Sasuke was going to give it his all in today's fight.
"So, what's this? Finally willing to take me seriously? You even brought your ninja tools in advance?" Naruto flashed a warm smile, one reminiscent of Minato Namikaze, his father.
"Hmph, what I've lost, I will take back with my own hands." Sasuke turned his head, his cheeks puffed up in anger.
"Mm, well said. If you lose something, take it back yourself," Naruto praised Sasuke, impressed by how mature he was for his age.
"Sasuke, today, I won't hold back. Be careful!"
Before Sasuke finished speaking, he flicked his hands, sending ten shuriken spinning through the air towards Naruto.
As the shuriken were still spinning in midair, Sasuke's body transformed into an illusion as he dashed towards Naruto, a kunai radiating dark energy already in his hand, ready for the strike.
The first move in a ninja battle—throwing shuriken as a feint—followed by either closing the distance quickly or using hand seals to perform ninjutsu. However, Naruto didn't expect Sasuke to execute this sequence so smoothly.
Throwing shuriken, wielding kunai, and turning his body into a blur took Sasuke less than two seconds.
Seeing this, Naruto didn't dare let his guard down. He pushed off the ground with his toes, quickly retreating, and threw ten shuriken to intercept Sasuke's incoming projectiles.
Clang, clang, clang...
The sharp sound of metal clashing rang out. At the same time, a kunai appeared in Naruto's hand, his movements so fluid they surpassed Sasuke's by a wide margin.
Sasuke, who had just gotten close to Naruto, was visibly shocked.
"How is this possible?"
His heart raced as he stared at Naruto. He never expected that the boy he had always looked down on would have such strength.
"Is this really your true power?"
Realizing that Naruto's reflexes and speed were on par with his own, Sasuke decided to stop holding back. The kunai he had been preparing suddenly shot forward like a streak of dark light aimed straight at Naruto's chest.
Even with Naruto's knowledge of lower-ranked Taijutsu and intermediate throwing techniques, Sasuke's sudden and fierce assault made him flinch.
"Impressive. The new rising star of the Uchiha clan," Naruto thought.
Clang!
Naruto skillfully blocked Sasuke's kunai with his own, swiftly parrying the attack.
"Hmph, not bad!" Sasuke grunted, quickly closing the distance and launching a series of rapid, precise attacks with his own kunai, which glittered dangerously.
At first, Naruto struggled a bit to keep up with Sasuke's relentless assault. After all, the insights into lower-ranked Taijutsu were given to him directly, not something he had trained for, so integrating the techniques took time.
But as the seconds passed, Naruto grew more and more confident. Everything started to feel natural, and he found himself moving effortlessly, his movements becoming smoother.
The fight quickly escalated into a heated exchange.
Sasuke, enhanced by the power of his Sharingan, and with a stronger foundation in Taijutsu, initially had the upper hand, pushing Naruto back.
However, as time passed and Naruto became more familiar with Sasuke's battle rhythm and techniques, he grew increasingly confident.
Clang, clang, clang…
The sharp sounds of weapons colliding filled the air.
Clang!
The two of them, locked in an intense mid-air confrontation, pulled apart for a brief moment, each of them landing gracefully on the ground.
Sasuke swiftly sheathed his kunai and made a series of hand seals, his hands moving like lightning.
"This is bad!" Naruto thought, realizing that Sasuke had taken advantage of the perfect timing to perform ninjutsu while they were both suspended in the air.
As he observed Sasuke's serious expression, Naruto quickly channeled some of his chakra into a nearby tree.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
Whoosh…
A massive fireball erupted from Sasuke's mouth, roaring as it hurtled towards Naruto, its heat intense and overwhelming.
The timing was so perfect that Naruto had no room to maneuver in midair. Unless he also used ninjutsu to counter it, the only option left was to try and block it with his body.
In an instant, the fireball engulfed Naruto, and his painful screams echoed through the air.
Sasuke, fully immersed in the battle, didn't realize how much damage she had caused until she landed safely, only to hear Naruto's agonized cries. She froze, her heart tightening in guilt.
But before she could move to check on him, the fireball dispersed, revealing a severely burned Naruto.
"Ugh…"
"Naruto…"
Sasuke regretted not controlling the size of the fireball. If she had held back, perhaps Naruto wouldn't have suffered such serious burns.
"Naruto, you've lost."
Just as Sasuke's words left her mouth, there was a loud bang.
The burned Naruto turned into a puff of smoke, disappearing in front of Sasuke. A charred piece of wood clattered to the ground.
"What…? A substitution jutsu?"
Sasuke's eyes widened in shock. "This isn't good!"
Realizing that her fireball had only hit Naruto's substitution, she knew the situation had taken a turn for the worse.
She quickly tried to retreat, but before she could move, a chill ran down her neck as a sharp kunai pressed against her throat.
The aura of death was close, and Sasuke's pupils dilated as she turned her head mechanically. She saw Naruto's cheerful smile staring back at her.
"Sasuke, you've lost."
"Substitution… You actually used substitution jutsu in such a critical moment?" Sasuke stared at Naruto in disbelief.
Naruto pulled back his kunai and smiled. "You were pretty good too, managing to force me to use substitution jutsu."
Sasuke, unwilling to accept defeat, stormed forward. "I'm not done yet! Let's go again! This time, I won't lose to you!"
Naruto turned around, raising his hand and gently tapping her forehead. "Next time, Sasuke. Forgive me."
This scene, this gesture, these words…
As they entered Sasuke's ears, she stood frozen in place, gazing at Naruto's warm smile.
A faint flush appeared on her cheeks.
"Hmph, next time I won't lose to you!" Sasuke puffed up her cheeks, turning her head away, as though trying to hide the emotions stirring inside her.
Seeing the blush on her face, Naruto knew exactly what was going on.
Having defeated her in a direct confrontation, she had clearly accepted the fact that she had pretended to be his girlfriend for three months.
With a smile, Naruto reached out and grabbed Sasuke's small hand. Sasuke instinctively struggled but soon settled down.
"Even if we were pretending… it's still important to practice, or we might get caught."
As Naruto held her hand intimately, Sasuke's cheeks turned bright red, and her heart raced as she didn't know what to do.
"Practice what…? We're just pretending… you…"
Seeing Sasuke's nervousness, Naruto chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not that kind of guy. Since I've proven I can help improve your strength, for the next three months at school, you're my girlfriend. Outside of school, you'll be my sidekick for three months. No objections, right?"
Sasuke clearly wasn't happy with this arrangement.
"Then, how do you plan to improve my strength?"
At this crucial moment, Sasuke managed to suppress the redness in her face, looking at Naruto with determination.
"Well… I can't say much, but how much stronger you get depends on how you perform during this time."
"Hmph, as long as it makes me stronger, I'll do whatever you say."
"Deal, then! A handshake to seal the promise." Naruto smiled and raised his right hand.
Clap, clap, clap!
They exchanged three firm handshakes, officially establishing their partnership.
"What's next?" Sasuke asked.
"Don't rush. First, go gather some firewood. I've got a new recipe for you to try," Naruto said confidently as he began collecting the scattered shuriken.
"Okay."
Having witnessed Naruto's true strength during their second intense battle, Sasuke now respected him. She responded with a nod and went to gather firewood, following his instructions.
Naruto picked up his shuriken and walked straight to the river.
He quickly focused his chakra, his sharp eyes glued to the ripples on the water's surface.
Before long, three dark shadows appeared in his line of sight—three fat carp swimming in the river.
"Now's my chance!"
Shing…
With a powerful flick of his wrist, three shuriken flew through the air, each hitting its target and landing in the water with a splash.
Before the ripples even settled, Naruto leapt into the water, emerging moments later with three large, plump fish in his hands.
Sasuke was secretly stunned as she watched this scene unfold.
Her shuriken-throwing skills were still limited to hitting stationary targets, but Naruto not only hit moving targets, he managed to land three hits with three shurikens.
"What are you staring at? Hurry up and gather some firewood. I need to prepare the fish," Naruto urged.
"Okay, okay."
Seeing the plump koi fish, Sasuke couldn't help but swallow.
Earlier, she had angrily burned the silver bills given by the Third Hokage, causing her to stew in her frustration and skip lunch. Now, seeing the fresh ingredients in Naruto's hands, she couldn't help but drool, her stomach growling incessantly.
At the same time, a system notification sounded.
[ Ding, would you like to spend 6 points of Negative Emotion Value to exchange for 500 grams of premium packaging, salt, MSG, chicken essence, pepper powder, cumin chili powder, and steamed fish soy sauce? ]
"Yes."

As the notification sound faded, Naruto's vision turned to his system bag, where a variety of seasonings awaited.
"Tsk... with these seasonings, forget grilling fish, even grilling slippers would taste amazing."
