Chapter 54: Fireborns Dragon
The dragon shook Shadow off.
Shadow flew down, but in the air he twisted his body and landed cleanly on the roof of a house.
Then, the dragon shot fire from his mouth — but it wasn't just flames,
it was fireballs.
Shadow deflected every single fireball using the Dragon Sword.
He jumped and flew right in front of the dragon's face.
The dragon swung wildly with its wing,
but Shadow parried the whole strike
and cut a hole into its wing.
The dragon wobbled in the air and then
crashed into six houses,
everything exploded.
Shadow jumped and landed on the fallen dragon.
He was about to give it everything he had —
when suddenly…
The dragon transformed into a human form.
The aura was strong —
about as powerful as Shadow's.
But Shadow couldn't afford to lose now.
He had made a promise to his master.
The giant dragon began to shrink,
and the aura around it only grew stronger.
Then Shadow saw it—
Still a dragon, but now with a dragon's head, two legs, two arms, and wings.
Then, the dragon began to speak:
"Do you even know who I am?"
The dragon reached into his neck and
pulled a sword from his mouth.
It was also a legendary sword,
and it looked exactly like Shadow's.
But instead of red, it was black.
Then —
the dragon started running.
The dragon attacked —
he swung his sword sideways at Shadow,
but Shadow parried the strike
and countered:
he kicked the humanoid dragon,
who flew through two buildings.
Then, both of them ran at each other,
fists raised —
they jumped,
and in mid-air,
their fists collided.
The shockwave was so powerful,
everything around them was reduced to ash — burned to cinders.
"Not bad," said the dragon.
They dropped their swords.
Hand-to-hand combat.
They both punched each other in the face at the same time.
Then the dragon tried to kick —
but Shadow grabbed his leg,
flipped him,
and smashed him into the ground.
Shadow picked up his sword again
and was about to finish him —
but the dragon already had his own sword back in hand.
The swords clashed again.
Shadow parried an overhead strike,
then swept the dragon's legs
and sliced off his arm —
the one holding the sword.
The sword flew into the air —
and so did the severed arm.
The dragon screamed:
"Aghhh! My— my arm!"
Shadow caught the dragon's sword.
Now wielding two swords,
he dashed forward and instantly sliced off the dragon's head.
The dragon's body turned to dust.
Shadow ran toward Mike
and climbed the tallest building.
Then — he saw Fireborn.
He spoke into Mike's mind:
"Mike… I'll start gathering energy.
Fight without me for a few minutes."
Shadow threw the red Dragon Sword back to Mike —
and Mike caught it perfectly.
Then, Shadow sheathed the black Dragon Sword —
the one from the dragon itself —
and disappeared.
Fireborn laughed.
"Let's see if the great General Shadow returns…
He probably will.
But by then…
it'll be too late.
And you'll already be ash."
Mike took a deep breath,
then said:
"Alright…
Let's get this over with, yeah?"
