Chapter 173: Stealth Training (E)
The next morning.
Everyone was assembled in front of Brown's hut.
"You guys sure were loud last night," Brown commented while using his pinky finger to itch his right ear.
Brown didn't care about their response, so before any of them could say anything, he continued, "I already gave you all a briefing last night, so I won't be repeating that again, just follow me."
With that said, Brown led them inside his hut.
The four of them followed and soon reached the underground room.
They called it the underground room because they had only explored one compartment in there. There was a door which led to other compartments as well, which they were yet to to explore.
They all had been very curious about it, but Brown never allowed them to venture deeper.
Today was the day their curiosity was finally going to be satiated.
Brown walked to a door and placed his hand on a pad beside it. The pad lit up with a green light, and the door slid open the next moment.
Inside, there was a narrow passageway which looked very long because of the white lights that filled the passage.
"Stop wasting time and follow me," Brown said and attracted their attention before walking in.
With excitement bubbling up inside their hearts, they followed.
They had walked only about twenty meters or so inside when Brown turned to his right.
It was only then that they noticed that there was a sliding door fixed on the wall right next to them. It was the same white colour as the walls, which made it difficult to see.
Brown once again scanned his palm and entered. The rectangular room was divided in the ratio of one by four.
The entrance led them to the smaller region, which had a thick wall that separated the room in a given ratio.
The wall, however, wasn't completely opaque. On their left, there was a see-through mirror embedded in the thick wall.
In front of the mirror was a variety of computer monitors and other instruments they had no knowledge about.
"It looks similar to a music studio," Specy muttered.
"Well, you're not exactly wrong," Brown said and walked towards the computer monitors to set them up.
After all the screens were lit up, Brown began his explanation.
"Shadow, go enter that room and when you hear me say 'go' use swift steps to run from one end of the room to the next before returning," Brown gestured towards Shadow.
"Alright," Shadow was excited to try something new, so he was more than ready.
He soon entered the room and closed the door.
'Oh? They have made an artificial land here. Interesting.' Shadow observed his surroundings.
The walls were all white as usual, but the floor had been made similar to a normal dirt ground with mud and small, big pebbles.
Outside the room.
"The rest of you pay close attention to this monitor," Brown pointed towards a monitor where a graph was displayed.
They nodded.
Next, Brown leaned forward on the table and pressed a button on the mic which was placed on the table.
"Be ready, I'll start counting now," Brown's voice echoed inside the second room, and Shadow, who was stretching his leg, nodded in acknowledgement.
"3…2…1...Go!"
Shadow's figure rushed from one end to the other in a flash before returning.
"Alright, you can return," Brown said through the speaker.
When Shadow's figure returned, Brown played the recorded graph which everyone had witnessed, once again for him.
"That's how much sound you made while using swift steps," Brown said as Shadow witnessed the huge peak his graph had stretched over several seconds.
The peaks showed numbers ranging from thirty to sixty decibels
"Now I'll be going inside, observe the monitor carefully," Brown walked into the room next.
There was a monitor which showed the inside of the room so the four of them could clearly see whar was going inside.
Brown finally was in a position to start and his figure disappeared from the spot the next moment before reappearing in less than a second.
Everyone's gaze fell on the graph, and they were dumbstruck. The room stayed at zero decibels throughout.
Brown soon walked out of the room and began his explanation.
"As you might have guessed by now, in this room you will learning stealth. While I don't expect you to be as fast as me, I definitely expect you to reach the range of twenty decibels by the end of this month," Brown stated.
"So, how are we going to reach that goal?" Specy asked.
"Through trial and error, of course. Everyone learns like that." Brown then looked at his watch and continued, "It's eight fifteen right now. I'll come back here to check in three hours, so train well."
With that said, Brown left the room.
After hearing him, they all knew that they could only depend on themselves.
"So, how should we do it? One person finishes a lap, comes back to check their timing, and then the other person goes to run?" Shadow asked.
"Hmmm," Specy thought over it for a bit and continued, "No, it would waste our time. Let's do this instead, we all will take turns and spend a full fifteen minutes inside the room and train.
The ones outside will use the mic to inform the person of their sound level. Like this, after fifteen minutes are over, the said person would have almost forty-five minutes to themselves.
They could use that time to think of ways to improve their speed while also observing others through the monitor to gain some ideas."
"Woah, you weren't a software developer for nothing," Shadow praised.
"Yes, that's a wonderful plan,"
"I agreed we should go with it."
Fana and Jin chimed in, and with that it was decided.
"So does everyone here know how to play stone, paper and scissors?" Shadow suddenly asked with a grin.
A while later, the sequence order was determined.
Shadow, Ice, Specy and Jin.
'Tch, I'll have to wait for forty-five minutes,' Jin clicked his tongue.
"Haha, don't look so annoyed, Zed, we all have areas we are not very good in. See you later," In a visibly cheerful mood, Shadow soon entered the training room, leaving an annoyed Jin behind.
Seeing Jin's annoyed look, a hint of amusement also formed on Specy and Ice's faces.
They soon went towards the monitor to observe Shadow's training. It was more efficient to learn from Shadow's mistakes as it would increase their learning pace later.
