My Hero Academia: Nightmare Mode

Chapter 31: A Shocking Start

The air in the classroom was unusually relaxed, a rare sight at UA. With Aizawa curled up in his signature yellow sleeping bag at the front of the room, it was clear that today's lesson would be more... self-directed.

Kikidori sat at his usual seat, quietly observing the chaos around him. Kaminari and Sero were whispering about some new prank, Mina was doodling in her notebook while sneaking glances at her phone, and Bakugo was glaring at anyone who dared to make too much noise.

Kikidori, now 18 as of the previous night, felt a strange weight on his shoulders. He wasn't sure if it was from the impromptu celebration his classmates threw or the countless "Happy Birthday" messages from Toga that still lingered on his phone. Either way, he felt older—not just in years, but in the growing complexity of his double life.

As the classroom buzzed with quiet chatter, Kaminari, ever the class clown, decided to up the ante. He leaned over to Sero, whispering, "Bet you 500 yen I can zap something and not get caught."

Sero grinned. "You're on. But you zap one of us, and you're paying double."

Kaminari smirked, his eyes scanning the room for a target. His gaze landed on the lump of yellow at the front of the class. "How about... Aizawa-sensei?"

Sero's eyes widened. "You wouldn't."

"Oh, I would," Kaminari said with a wicked grin. He stood up, sparking his fingertips just enough to generate a small jolt.

"Kaminari, no," Mina hissed, noticing his intentions.

"Kaminari, yes," he whispered back, inching closer to their sleeping teacher.

The classroom held its breath as Kaminari extended his finger toward the sleeping bag. With the lightest touch, he released a tiny zap—just enough to stir someone from a nap.

What he didn't account for was Aizawa's reflexes.

The moment the electricity hit, Aizawa's eyes snapped open, his capture scarf springing to life. Kaminari barely had time to yelp before he found himself suspended upside down, his arms flailing uselessly.

"Aizawa-sensei, wait! It was just a joke!" Kaminari cried, his voice echoing in the now-silent classroom.

Aizawa stared at him with his usual deadpan expression, though his hair was slightly more disheveled than usual. "You thought it was a good idea to shock me awake?"

"It wasn't my idea!" Kaminari lied, pointing at Sero, who immediately raised his hands in defense.

"Don't drag me into this!" Sero protested.

The class burst into laughter, even Bakugo cracking a rare smirk at the sight of Kaminari dangling helplessly. Kikidori chuckled softly, shaking his head at the absurdity of it all.

After a few moments, Aizawa sighed, lowering Kaminari to the ground but keeping him tied up. "You'll be helping me grade papers after class. That should teach you to think twice before pulling something like this again."

Kaminari groaned but nodded, knowing better than to argue.

As the class settled back into its usual rhythm, Kikidori couldn't help but feel a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. For a brief moment, he was just another student, surrounded by friends and caught in the whirlwind of daily life at UA.

But in the back of his mind, he knew it wouldn't last forever.

The end of Chapter 31.
