Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The Service Club’s Request
It was a quiet weekend morning.
After getting up and making breakfast, Su Yu received a call from Yui Yuigahama.
"Um, Su Yu-kun, can I bring Yumiko and Hina over to your place?"
"That means it'll turn into a real study session." Su Yu reminded her.
"Sorry, they wanted to go shopping, but I told them I was going to your house instead..."
"It's fine. You spent the whole day with me and Yukinoshita yesterday, so it makes sense to spend time with them today too. But I haven't finished looking through Yukinoshita's notes yet, so I was thinking of asking her to tutor you all." Su Yu gazed out the window.
"Mm-hmm! If it's Yukinon, I feel even more reassured." Yui nodded eagerly.
"Does that mean you don't trust my tutoring?" Su Yu asked while stirring his coffee.
"Yukinon's grades are better. If she helps us, we'll definitely improve. Su Yu-kun, once your grades surpass hers, I'll acknowledge your tutoring skills. Besides, I also really want Yukinon to become friends with them…"
"Alright, I'll give you all the opportunity to chat as much as you want." Su Yu understood her intention.
"Thank you, Su Yu-kun." Yui giggled sweetly.
"No need to thank me. Just stay over tonight." Su Yu casually took a sip of his coffee.
"Su Yu-kun, you perv!" Yui hung up in embarrassment.
Su Yu chuckled at the call's abrupt end and then dialed Yukino Yukinoshita.
A few seconds later—
"Do you need something?" Her cool, composed voice rang out.
"I'd like you to help tutor Yui and her friends. That way, I'll have time to learn how to draw manga." Su Yu replied.
"Right now?"
"Right now."
"I'll be there in an hour."
"Thanks."
After saying that, Yukino hung up.
Su Yu put away his phone, drank his coffee, and returned to his room, watching drawing tutorials while waiting for them to arrive.
An Hour Later
Yui and her friends arrived at Su Yu's house at the same time as Yukino.
Su Yu had already prepared black tea and some snacks for them.
"Yukinon, sorry for the trouble." Yui poured tea for Yukino with a bright smile.
"It's no trouble. Tutoring is also part of the Service Club's activities." Yukino replied while glancing at Su Yu.
"Thank you, President Yukinoshita, for your hard work." Su Yu stepped forward and placed the snacks in front of her.
"Alright, I'll tutor them now. Go do your own thing." Yukino nodded in satisfaction.
"Yui, I'll leave this to you." Su Yu looked at her.
"Mm-hmm." Yui nodded cheerfully.
With that, Su Yu headed to his room.
Hina Ebina glanced between Yui and Yukino.
"Yui, when did you and Yukinoshita-san get so close? Don't tell me you three went on a date yesterday?"
"Ebina-san, it was a Service Club activity, not a date," Yukino corrected her.
"Yeah, yeah! It wasn't a date, just a club activity." Yui quickly echoed.
"Fine, let's say it was club-related. But what about you and Su Yu-kun?" Hina smirked playfully.
"I… we're doing fine." Yui blushed, recalling the giant teddy bear Su Yu had given her. Her heart felt warm.
"Did Su Yu-kun bully you?" Hina leaned in curiously.
Yui's face turned even redder. Saying he didn't would be a lie… but saying he did didn't feel right either.
Yukino, calmly sipping her tea and nibbling on snacks, didn't interrupt their conversation. She was flipping through Yui's notes.
Meanwhile, Yumiko Miura kept her head down, staring at her textbook with a complicated expression.
Hina, realizing she wouldn't get an answer, glanced at the three girls in front of her.
Yui was obviously in a sweet relationship with Su Yu.
Yumiko… well, she had just recently experienced heartbreak.
And Yukino? Hina didn't know much about this high-and-mighty "Ice Queen," but she was definitely curious about her.
"Yuigahama-san, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. This tutoring session is just a basic review, but if you truly want to improve your grades, you can officially request my help—or join the Service Club." Yukino offered.
Yui hesitated for a moment before glancing at her two friends.
"I haven't really thought about university, but if I can get free tutoring from Yukinoshita-san, I'm interested." Hina chuckled.
"If possible, I'd like to improve my grades as much as I can," Yumiko admitted after a brief hesitation.
"Yukinon, I want to go to university. I want to attend the same one as Su Yu-kun." Yui said earnestly after hearing her friends' responses.
"I understand. I accept your request. Ebina-san, Miura-san, whether or not you join the Service Club, please come by after school. I'll tutor you for two hours." Yukino nodded.
"Thanks, Yukinoshita-san." Hina smiled.
"Thank you, Yukinoshita-san." Yumiko's eyes carried a trace of gratitude.
"Helping others is the duty of the Service Club. No need to be overly grateful. In the end, your success will depend on your own efforts." Yukino spoke softly.
Meanwhile, in Su Yu's Room
What was going on in the living room?
Su Yu didn't know, and honestly, he didn't care that much.
He had pretty much grasped the basics of drawing, but his skill level was probably worse than an elementary schooler's.
Now, it was just a matter of practice—constant trial and error.
Fortunately, with his enhanced memory ability, he could correct mistakes quickly and remember common pitfalls.
Little by little, he made adjustments.
After half an hour, he managed to replicate a character from an animated scene.
Copying was easy enough.
"Now, time to learn more." Su Yu continued researching.
How to draw joints? How to structure the body? How to emphasize a character's figure? How to perfect body outlines?
Bit by bit, Su Yu listened, observed, and practiced.
Even without any natural talent, the simple and easy-to-understand tutorials allowed him to sketch a beautiful girl.
By this point, two hours had passed.
Su Yu had gone from a complete beginner to an amateur-level artist.
If he had a professional mentor, he was sure he could improve even faster.
His gaze shifted from the screen to the window.
A few seconds later, he looked down at his phone.
