Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Inviting Yui for a Sleepover

In Front of the Shopping Mall

"Mom, I won't be coming home tonight. I… I'll be staying over at Yumiko's and Hina's place. Eh? Su Yu-kun? Of course, he's not here."

While Yuigahama Yui was on the phone with her mother, she glanced nervously at Su Yu, who stood right in front of her.

From the other end of the call, Yuigahama Asuna's voice carried a teasing tone—

"Yui, you get nervous when you lie. Lying isn't what a good girl does, you know?"

Hearing this, Yui panicked and looked to Su Yu for help.

He held out his hand, signaling for her to pass him the phone.

After a moment of hesitation, Yui handed it over.

"Aunt Asuna, thank you for the bento you prepared for me. Yui will be staying over at my place tonight. My apartment has two rooms, and my downstairs neighbor is Hiratsuka-sensei. Tomorrow morning, I'll take Yui home, and I'll also bring a dessert box as thanks when I visit."

Su Yu spoke directly, his tone calm and respectful.

On the other end, Asuna chuckled.

"If it's with Su Yu-kun, then I'm not worried. I'll leave her to you—just take care of her, okay?"

With that, she hung up.

Su Yu returned the phone to Yui.

Her face was completely flushed.

She had heard everything her mother had said—especially that last part.

Last night, Asuna had explained things in detail, leaving Yui embarrassed for hours.

"Let's go pick out some pajamas." Su Yu reached out his hand.

After a brief pause, Yui nodded and placed her small hand in his.

Hand in hand, they entered the shopping mall.

Inside the Mall

As they passed the arcade on the first floor, Su Yu glanced at the claw machines filled with plushies.

"Do you want to play?" Yui asked softly.

"Next time." Su Yu shook his head. "I have a feeling Yukinoshita-san will start working the moment she gets home and then send me an email about the script."

"Tomorrow, we can properly enjoy our shopping trip."

Yui giggled. She knew Su Yu had a good understanding of Yukinoshita Yukino's personality.

"I just hope she doesn't spend the whole day interrogating me about the plot instead of shopping." Su Yu sighed.

Yui laughed again—Yukino really seemed like the type to do that.

Suddenly, she remembered the condition Yukino had given.

"Su Yu-kun, do you think you can come up with three complete stories for her?"

"I'll think about it tonight." Su Yu replied.

He had watched a lot of anime, but when it came to stories that were truly "complete," there weren't that many.

Most anime couldn't finish their stories in one season.

And some… had terrible endings.

Especially big-name series. Take Naruto, for example—the latter half turned into Naruto Flashback Chronicles.

That being said—

Their beginnings were spectacular.

Returning to Sakura Hall

After buying pajamas, they arrived at Sakura Hall.

Just as Su Yu reached for his door—

His phone vibrated.

It was an email from Yukinoshita Yukino.

She had already organized the background stories of each character, outlined several side plots, and even mapped out different possibilities for the time loop concept.

After reading it, Su Yu replied—

"Yukinoshita-san, your thoughts align perfectly with mine. The plot is set. Now, we just need to decide the art style.

I already have something in mind—let's see if our ideas match."

A few minutes later—

Yukino's response arrived.

It was an image.

The drawing featured a magical girl in a cute, pastel-colored art style—

Almost identical to the visual style of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Su Yu smirked.

"Yukinoshita-san, you're a genius."

"Thank you for the compliment. But I'm not a genius—just someone who works harder than most. I love this story. Now, I'm waiting for your three stories."

"I already have the first one in mind. You won't have to wait too long."

"Can I read it tomorrow?"

"Yui is staying over at my place tonight, so…"

"That's not an excuse to slack off. I expect to read it tomorrow."

"Understood, Club President Yukinoshita."

"Please treat her sincerely, and don't try anything… inappropriate."

Su Yu stared at that last sentence but chose not to reply.

Instead, he turned to Yui.

"The bathroom is over there. I'll start cooking dinner."

Yui hesitated, then glanced at the shopping bag in her hand, containing her new pajamas.

Her face turned a shade of pink, and she quickly hurried toward the bathroom.

A Cozy Night

By the time Su Yu finished preparing dinner, Yui was already sitting on the sofa, drying her hair with a blow dryer.

She was wearing her new pajamas, a bit embarrassed, but looking soft and comfortable.

Su Yu set the food on the dining table and walked over to her.

"Want me to help?"

"N-no, it's fine! I'm almost done."

Yui's face turned even redder as she put down the blow dryer and tied up her hair.

"Does the pajama fit well?" Su Yu asked, glancing at her.

"…It's a little tight."

Her face burned hotter as she answered.

"…Yeah, it does look a bit small." Su Yu observed, noticing the slightly snug fit.

"Su Yu-kun…" Yui quickly covered herself with her arms.

"Alright, let's eat. After dinner, you have work to do." Su Yu smirked.

"Work? You mean drawing?" Yui's eyes lit up.

Since Su Yu had written the script and Yukino had expanded on it, she felt left out.

But now that Su Yu was giving her something to do, she was excited to be involved.

Dinner Time

Tonight's meal was tonkotsu ramen.

As soon as Yui sat down, the rich aroma made her stomach growl.

She took a spoonful of broth and sipped it.

Her eyes widened.

"This broth is amazing!"

"I slow-cooked the broth earlier, added fresh ingredients, and made the noodles from scratch. It should taste alright." Su Yu explained casually.

"Su Yu-kun… I don't think I'll ever be able to match your cooking skills." Yui pouted.

"As long as you learn the basics, I'll be satisfied." Su Yu smiled.

"I-I'll do my best!" Yui clenched her fists in determination.

"I'm looking forward to it." Su Yu said before continuing his meal.

Yui smiled and happily dug into her ramen.

Post-Dinner Work

After finishing dinner, Su Yu showed Yui the character designs that Yukino had drawn.

Looking at the adorable art style, while recalling the tragic story, Yui felt a mix of emotions.

She understood now—

The contrast between the cute visuals and the brutal story would leave a deep impact on viewers.

And in a way—

The ending was bittersweet… but also healing.
