Chapter 123 Brand Representative
```
Standing at the Academy's helipad, the girl looked up at the slowly descending flight vehicle, feeling the airflow from the bottom stir the air around her, lifting her hair and skirt a bit. Only after the vehicle had fully landed did she step forward.
"Hello there, I'm Li Xun, representative of the 'Gothic Doll' brand. May I ask if you are Tilan, mentioned by President Amors?"
Among the people descending from the vehicle, the one in the lead was a woman wearing a professional suit dress. She looked to be around thirty and wore rimless glasses. Upon seeing Tilan and her two classmates greeting her, she walked straight over.
"Hello, yes, I am Tilan. I'm in charge of receiving all of you and discussing our collaboration." The girl nodded, and Annelli and Kolter, who stood behind her, also bowed slightly.
"You're even prettier than in the photos, Tilan. No wonder you're from Edith Academy, with such cute and beautiful students," Li Xun said with a smile, reaching out her hand to shake Tilan's briefly, then signaled for her companions to follow.
Compared to the sharp professional attire of Li Xun, the styles of those following her varied greatly. Perhaps because designers tend to have strong personalities, they didn't dress in conventional ways. Some were dressed like characters out of ancient Songstress tales, others wore wigs, and some carried uniquely shaped cases.
"Your accommodations have been arranged; please follow me," Tilan said, leading the way to the main path with Li Xun, while those designers behind her didn't need special attention and would naturally follow.
Along the way, Li Xun would ask about the various specially designed buildings and gardens she saw, showing great curiosity, which Tilan addressed with explanations. If Tilan was unfamiliar with something, Kolter would take over.
"Is this the Academy where the young ladies and gentlemen live? The environment is even better than I imagined," Li Xun remarked with admiration.
After settling in, Tilan led them to the restaurant for a meal. During this time, the group was amazed by the luxurious food and drink of the campus. Although they were not newcomers to the finer things in life, entering an elite Academy like Edith Academy was a first for them, and they found it exciting.
The first two days' itinerary didn't involve any official business, instead taking them around the Academy's daily life, casually allowing the designers to collect inspiration.
The next afternoon, Li Xun and Tilan sat in a U-shaped building that lay horizontally. The hollow center of the building was a sightseeing restaurant offering various drinks and pastries, with a garden at the top where the high green grass interspersed with white pentagonal blossoms glistened like stars, swaying in the wind, looking extraordinarily beautiful from afar.
Compared to an open-air sightseeing restaurant, this place was more comfortable because of the shade overhead, not too sunny or rainy. Additionally, the three-sided open environment provided a vast view, overlooking the surrounding scenery.
"Wow, Tilan is only a freshman? You really can't tell. I heard from President Amors that you're his capable assistant and now the vice president of the student council," Li Xun said after getting familiar with the girl, surprised to learn she was only in her first year of high school.
"Let's see, when I was a freshman, I was still chasing stars and falling in love, not at all thinking about studying hard," she laughed.
"I was an average student in high school. Later in college, the field I studied wasn't much related to fashion design; it was more social relations, leaning towards psychology," she explained.
"So, how did you end up joining the company you're with now?" the girl asked curiously.
"Oh, that's a long story. I actually switched several jobs along the way, mainly because I didn't like them much. I'm a person who prefers simple happiness, and dealing with clients' intricate psychological issues was too taxing for me. Hearing too much of it could leave me at a loss, easily affected," she admitted.
"So I eventually stopped working in psychological counseling and aimed to cross into another field, looking for work in other companies. Just then, 'Gothic Doll' happened to be recruiting for a position related to analyzing market psychology, and I went for it."
"Actually, whether a fashion design or style becomes popular has quite a bit to do with psychological factors too," she concluded.
```
"Modern individuals choose their clothes based on a variety of standards and priorities, which aren't as focused on the quality of the clothes as in the past; even beauty or ugliness is not the primary factor,"
"For instance, an ordinary, unspectacular young person just entering society will be very concerned about their clothing style."
"This concern manifests in a need to wear clothes that aren't too dated or old-fashioned, that have certain individuality, that emphasize their 'excellence,' avoid cheapness, and avoid the potential ridicule or disdain from their peers."
"Because most young people just entering society are engaged in basic or entry-level jobs, they find themselves at the bottom or on the lower rungs of the company, a position that undeniably accumulates stress and panic. They urgently seek some psychological compensation to dilute these feelings and to distinguish themselves from the mediocre and ordinary people around them."
"The fascination with luxury goods among women is based on similar logic; since most of the jobs women hold are not core positions, they need expensive handbags to reflect their own worth, so that people around them are 'intimidated' by the costly luxury items, thereby generating a sense of 'awe' for her, which unconsciously elevates her status in the eyes of others."
"In this way, unnoticeably, if another man wishes to invite her to dinner or to give her a gift, he wouldn't dare choose a low-end restaurant or give something too cheap and tacky."
"While purchasing luxury clothes and handbags is a significant investment for an ordinary young woman, if she manages it properly, she could reap substantial benefits, which is why many women easily get addicted to it."
"Psychology, huh... It's truly fascinating," the young girl marveled at the complexity of the adult world.
"That's right, even the fashion industry now has many people buying not just simple materials and styles, but rather hoping to gain psychological advantages and confidence through the brand or style."
"Although there are rational individuals, or those who see through these psychological factors, these people are ultimately the minority; most people are irrational, or just go with the flow. Our market target is these mainstream groups."
"So this collaboration with our academy was also after the reputation of Edith Academy," the girl tilted her head slightly.
"Such a forthright admission might make us seem opportunistic, but in reality, we have no ill intentions; we are simply meeting the market's demand. People hope for and desire these products, so we naturally have to comply with the market's choice," Li Xun explained to her.
"It's okay, I'm not blaming you, just feeling a little sentimental," the girl nodded.
"If this collaboration goes well, it could actually be beneficial for increasing the influence of the academy, which is why the headmaster asked me to take charge of it."
Afterward, the two chatted about many things, from the current popular styles among young people, to the everyday life on campus, to amusing stories between top academies.
It was clear that Li Xun was quite talkative and curious about how students at a top academy like Edith Academy went about their daily lives, whether they had tight schedules full of classes and an entirely elite education or whether, due to the students' wealthy backgrounds with no pressure, education prioritized happiness, with no involvement in intense competition, and so on.
"So, can you tell me what your life at the academy is generally like, Tilan?" Although he appeared to be about twice Tilan's age, Li Xun's pleading, coquettish demeanor made him seem even better at it than the dark-haired girl before him, making it hard to refuse.
"Uh, okay, actually, this is also one of the things I intended to show and tell you about during the tour."
Having agreed to Li Xun's request, the young girl thought for a moment and then slowly began to describe the style of Edith Academy.
"First of all, in our academy, students mostly study and participate in activities organized by clubs..." Her voice, mingling with the gentle breeze, rippled outwards, as the pentagonal white orchids in the rooftop garden also swayed in unison.
