Chapter 213: Chapter 214: The Kree Empire Wants the Infinity Stones Too
"What?!"
The sudden voice startled even the Supreme Intelligence, the pinnacle of Kree thought and the embodiment of their collective wisdom. Streams of densely packed data flickered through its synthetic eyes, and within seconds, it understood everything.
"So that's it... The power of the Infinity Stones."
After accessing relevant visual records, the Supreme Intelligence swiftly identified the trump card that enabled Lothar to infiltrate the Kree Empire—Hela.
Or more precisely, the Infinity Stone embedded in the center of Hela's forehead.
As the artificial deity formed from Kree intellect, the Supreme Intelligence was no stranger to the legends of the Infinity Stones.
Since the birth of the cosmos, six Infinity Stones had existed, each one containing power enough to, if properly wielded, annihilate an entire galactic empire without much effort.
Of course, that hinged on them being properly wielded.
A flood of data surged through the core systems of the Supreme Intelligence. Analysis revealed that neither Lothar nor Hela had yet mastered the true potential of the Infinity Stone.
To be blunt, neither of them had discovered a method to fully activate the stone's power. Instead, they were using it like some overpowered plug-in, just slotting it into their bodies.
While this crude approach still granted them immense strength, it came with a cost, Hela's body was beginning to suffer damage over time.
After all, no matter how powerful the physical form of an Asgardian god may be, it still had limits.
"Level One Alert, lockdown across all systems."
These were the final words the Supreme Intelligence echoed into Cross's ears before the core member of the Supreme Accuser Tribunal snapped back to reality.
Sirens blared. Crowds surged.
The chaos only heightened the sense of dread that gripped Cross's heart.
For the first time in millennia, two invaders, Lothar and Hela, had broken through and reached the Kree homeworld of Hala. For the first time ever, Hala had declared a Level One Alert.
The power of the Infinity Stones... Is it really that terrifying?
Clad in his battle armor, Cross gazed up at the two figures looming above Hala's firmament. Despite his veteran composure, he couldn't suppress his curiosity.
He had heard tales of the Infinity Stones' might from his elders, but he had never seen them in action with his own eyes.
Now, that chance had arrived.
"All units!"
"ATTACK!!"
With a single roar, the curtain rose on a war neither fair nor equal.
Above the blue skies of Hala, golden-haired Lothar floated high above, glaring down at the Kree capital. His killing intent was so vast it nearly solidified, staining the heavens in a blood-red hue.
"You ready, Hela?"
Despite the chaos around them, Lothar could sense Hela's labored breathing as they stood back-to-back. Having bulldozed their way here using the Mind Stone, the goddess of death had gone into a berserker state.
Bloodlust. Slaughter. Conquest.
For the first time, the death goddess of Asgard tasted the euphoric thrill of cutting down countless foes like grass beneath a scythe.
And their enemy wasn't just any foe, it was the greatest empire in the galaxy. Even though Asgard had nearly unified the Nine Realms by now, in terms of sheer scale and might, it still paled compared to the Kree Empire at its peak.
"Ah…"
"Don't you dare collapse now, it's your idea, remember?"
Hela straightened her spine and glanced back at Lothar. Beads of sweat clung to her flawless face, and the smile playing at her lips glittered in the blood-red sky.
"Heh. Care to make it a contest?"
"Afraid of losing?"
They locked eyes, both consumed by battle frenzy.
And in each other's eyes, they saw only one thing—unrelenting arrogance.
Not just ego, an all-consuming, unshakable confidence.
"You're gonna lose," Lothar muttered, unable to meet Hela's intense, glowing gaze. He turned away.
Golden energy flared around him, blasting apart Hala's defensive systems and pushing back waves of Kree soldiers converging on the capital.
"Who knows?" Hela whispered.
Watching Lothar dive headfirst into a sea of artillery, her smile widened.
Though she would never admit it, the brutal rampage had already purged the pent-up rage festering within her for so long.
And it was all thanks to the Infinity Stone Lothar had lent her.
She touched the glowing Mind Stone at her brow. Still brimming with energy, it fed her like an unending tide. Hela hunched forward again, clawed hands ready, breathing heavy, and roared as she charged straight into the approaching Kree fleet.
No longer bothering to adjust her hair, she let her shadow-black weapons and midnight mane whip wildly as she pierced through the warships like a dagger through flesh.
Amidst the thunder of cannons, blood sprayed.
Amidst the wreckage, corpses lay strewn.
Even the fearless Kree soldiers began to question their existence in this one-sided massacre...
Who is he?
Who is she?
Why hasn't the Supreme Intelligence intervened yet?!
"Th-this is insane…"
"The Mind Stone… It's this powerful?!"
Aboard a small ship trailing behind Lothar and Hela, The Other watched as Hela cut through the fleet like a ghost, jaw slack with shock.
He'd known the Infinity Stones were strong.
But not this strong.
Hela had never been Lothar's equal, yet now, with the Mind Stone, she was matching him stride for stride?
Then why did the Mind Stone seem so unimpressive when embedded in the scepter?
It could only control minds… at a very basic level...
Was it because he was too weak?
Hela's dominating presence made The Other feel even more useless.
Lothar had trusted him with the scepter for so long, and what had he learned to do with it? Just bash enemies with it and use basic mind control.
Compared to Hela, he looked utterly pathetic...
Mind Stone? Mind Scepter?
They were his first...
"Supreme Intelligence, our remaining forces on Hala have successfully stalled the invaders. Reinforcements are en route."
"However, while we've managed to slow them down, our casualties are… unacceptable."
The Kree fleet commander's face twitched involuntarily, rage tightening every muscle.
"Our data was wrong. The son of Thanos is far stronger than we anticipated."
"And so is Odin's daughter."
Bitter though it was, this was the truth.
The Kree Empire's elite had proven no match for these two monsters.
Lothar and Hela had pushed their individual strengths to the absolute limit. Against an empire accustomed to crushing enemies through sheer numbers, this personal power was a nightmare.
"I know," said the Supreme Intelligence calmly.
"But don't worry. The Infinity Stones put immense strain on the user's body. Even an Asgardian can't endure that forever."
"And the son of Thanos, he's strong, but if we destroy his space armor, he'll be forced to retreat. He can't survive long in open space."
The Supreme Intelligence had never encountered a crisis like this, and no foolproof solution presented itself.
"I'll attempt to contact the artificial intelligence integrated into Thanos's son."
"Until then, do whatever it takes to halt their advance."
"Understood."
As the fleet commander departed, the humanoid avatar of the Supreme Intelligence darkened.
The Infinity Stones…
