Chapter 129: Chapter 129
Those who reacted quickly chose to lie down and apologize, their bodies frozen in pleading positions. Lying down in front of Kurohane was pointless. After all, it was simpler to just beg for mercy from a leader who could casually scramble your brain. Some reacted quickly, others slowly, still murmuring quietly:
"I told you he was the Chief's child! He grew in an instant, looking exactly like the Boss!"
Kurohane stared coldly, a dark aura enveloping him. "All of you."
Crack!
The Ravagers instinctively snapped to attention, their movements military-precise and uniform, yielding only a single sound. Kurohane pointed at the murmuring Ravager and spoke expressionlessly: "This one, drag him out and beat him. Just make sure you don't kill him."
"Yes!" A chorus of voices rang out.
The Ravagers acted swiftly, dragging the unresponsive man to the side. After forming a circle, bloodcurdling screams erupted the next second, filling the corridor with pitiful sounds!
Kurohane nodded with satisfaction, a faint smile gracing his lips. He felt the oppression from being ridden and beaten by Carol Danvers just now instantly dissipate. He felt much lighter, happier than if he had acquired an Infinity Stone.
However, at this moment, Malekith appeared with a nosebleed on his face. He clearly looked like a seasoned veteran at work, trying to curry favor with the Boss to make Kurohane forget what had happened earlier.
"Boss, I have something to report." Malekith began, his voice slightly trembling yet trying to sound firm. "After Yondu's son escaped from prison, he already contacted the Collector, wanting to sell the cosmic orb. However, his contact is Thanos's daughter, Gamora."
"Isn't that normal? Have they reached Knowhere yet?" Kurohane asked, his eyebrows raised. As someone familiar with the plot, he deemed this normal and not a big deal.
"No, because they encountered Ronan's pursuit halfway and should be arriving at Xandar soon. Yondu is already preparing to go and seize the cosmic orb. Of course, I think he's preparing to rescue his son." Malekith explained, his tone subtle.
Malekith was indeed a veteran. His method of distraction was also well-seasoned. He completely avoided mentioning his previous blunder and even sold out one of his comrades along the way. It was a textbook maneuver.
Kurohane frowned, a thought crossing his mind. "Did he make a bet with Yondu? If Star-Lord doesn't come to Knowhere, I seem to have lost! Fortunately, we're not on Earth, so occasionally not keeping promises won't damage his character setting."
"Yondu's strength isn't enough. If we want to get the cosmic orb, I have to go. Tell Yondu to wait for me. We'll have a new spaceship soon!" Kurohane commanded, his voice holding undeniable authority.
"Yes!" Malekith nodded obediently, moving immediately.
In outer space, aboard Star-Lord's spaceship. The Guardians of the Galaxy, having finally escaped prison, had reconvened and begun a new round of intense mutual attacks. The focus of the attack was on Drax for exposing their whereabouts to Ronan, all so he could fight Ronan to avenge his wife. The result was that they were cornered even before they could sell the cosmic orb and get paid. If Rocket and Star-Lord hadn't been skilled pilots and managed to shake off their pursuers in an asteroid belt, they might all be dead in space now!
Though they had temporary security, escaping Ronan's pursuit was still a big problem.
Drax: "Don't look at me, I'm not even wearing a shirt." He said, his body tense.
Gamora: "Don't look at me, giving the cosmic orb to Thanos or Ronan is different, isn't it?" She retorted, her tone sharp.
Rocket: "Don't look at me, I don't have any friends except Groot." He sneered, crossing his furry arms.
Groot: "I am Groot!" A simple yet meaningful declaration.
Star-Lord sighed, his gaze frustrated. "A bunch of useless people! In such a vast Galaxy, we don't even have a single friend who can help!"
Muttering and cursing, Star-Lord set the spaceship's destination to Xandar. "Anyway, Ronan is also planning to destroy Xandar," he thought, a faint smirk appearing on his lips. He planned to drag the Nova Corps of Xandar into this. Otherwise, with just a few of them, winning was impossible!
Hiding alone in the cockpit, he still sent a message to his blue-skinned old man. He didn't know if Yondu would come to rescue him, but he was sure Yondu wouldn't give up on the cosmic orb.
After a long, arduous flight, Star-Lord's spaceship finally arrived at Xandar. And then he saw Yondu's Ravager spaceship, a familiar yet unexpected sight!
"Hey, BOY, can you hand over the cosmic orb now!" Yondu's hoarse voice rang in Star-Lord's ears, not through a comm, but directly into his mind. Without Star-Lord's permission, he proactively connected to Star-Lord's spaceship communication system. There was no other reason. Star-Lord's spaceship was originally a Ravager ship, Yondu paid the down payment, and all documents were in Yondu's name!
The Ravagers' spaceship was much larger than Star-Lord's vessel. This ship was designed as a carrier for Star-Lord's ship. So when the Ravagers' spaceship pressed forward, the faces of the Guardians of the Galaxy members were all unpleasant, their expressions tense. One was greenish, one was dumbfounded, one was dark and patterned, and one was furry-faced and raccoon-mouthed.
Then, Star-Lord's spaceship was captured by Yondu. The members of the Guardians of the Galaxy arrived at Yondu's command center. The previously disorganized and undisciplined Ravagers were all standing at attention, forming a perfect line. Even the most famous military legions in the Universe would find it difficult to have such morale and appearance. Gamora had the most right to speak; even the Black Order troops didn't line up this neatly!
Yondu also stood with his hands behind his back beside his command chair, staring sternly at the five people who had arrived. And in the captain's chair that was originally his, sat someone he didn't recognize.
"BOY, let me introduce you to my new Boss, Kurohane, just like you, from Earth," Yondu was the first to speak, establishing Kurohane's status, lest his son inadvertently offend his superior. He added inwardly, "Although Kurohane made a bet with me, anyone who has ever been a leader knows that leaders generally don't keep their promises. Your son will also have to make a living under Kurohane in the future, so leaving a good impression is more important!"
Kurohane was very satisfied with Yondu and the Ravager legion's performance. To get to Xandar faster than Star-Lord, they had gone through 170 wormhole jumps at once, far exceeding the limits of carbon-based life. "If it weren't for me using Sacred Energy to stabilize their bodies, they wouldn't know what form they'd be in now!" Kurohane noted in his mind. "But that's not the key. The key is that when Yondu contacted Star-Lord, these guys were still lying on the ground vomiting! Yet when Star-Lord and the others boarded the ship, they could actually stand in a stable military posture. Clearly, they had really put in the effort!"
"Rocket, we meet again," Kurohane didn't pay attention to Star-Lord, but instead greeted Rocket, his eyes sparkling. "Although this is our first meeting in this timeline, we are old friends in another timeline."
Rocket stared at him, the expression on his furry face a mix of bewilderment and surprise. "Is my face that important?"
Kurohane found it amusing to see Rocket's confused furry face, then said to Yondu, his tone turning serious, "Take everything down and bring me the cosmic orb."
"!!!" A collective gasp of surprise from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
