Chapter 22: Shiho Miyano
From his return to Asgard to his banishment to the human world by his father, no more than two minutes had passed.
Thor couldn't understand why he was met not with encouragement, but with severe punishment, even though he had fought two enemies on his own and emerged victorious.
"What on Earth is going on?"
That was the question that echoed in his mind just before he lost consciousness, without being able to find an answer.
Meanwhile, Isaac was on his way back to his secret base, passing through a state in the western United States, when he suddenly saw a multicolored beam of light descend from the sky.
After the beam vanished, all that remained was a strong, unconscious man.
Thanks to his heightened sensitivity to energy, Isaac sensed that a high-energy body had descended with the light.
"So, he really was exiled to Earth?"
Isaac looked at the unconscious Thor with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Even without the Frost Giants' invasion, the fate of this unfortunate child hadn't changed—he still had to come to Earth and suffer.
He sighed lightly, then turned and left. At the moment, he had no interest in clashing with Asgard.
"Boom!"
"Idiot! That damn fool! A rat hiding in the shadows! How dare he lay a hand on us, HYDRA?!"
In the SHIELD headquarters, Alexander Pierce had locked himself in his office, roaring with rage. Papers flew everywhere, and a wine glass shattered on the floor.
He had just received devastating news: all the agents he had sent were eliminated—including his strongest weapon, the Winter Soldier, and his deadliest assassin, The Ghost.
It was a heavy blow.
Meanwhile, Baron Strucker and Dr. Whitehall had only sent a small number of soldiers, and yet he had lost his top two fighters.
That comparison made Pierce feel off balance, fueling his resentment toward Isaac.
"Find him for me! Even if I have to turn the world upside down! I want him brought before me… I want to tear him apart! I want— cough! cough!"
Before he could finish his rant, Pierce was seized by a violent coughing fit, nearly choking. He quickly pressed the emergency button on his desk.
Baron Strucker and Dr. Whitehall, watching him through a video call, exchanged knowing glances as Pierce raged on.
Behind their serious expressions, faint smiles tugged at their lips.
"Let's leave it for now. We'll investigate this 'Isaac Leclerc'. Pierce, take care of yourself."
After Strucker finished speaking, he ended the call, followed by Whitehall.
Once the meeting ended, both of them collapsed onto their desks, bursting into laughter.
They simply couldn't resist—the idea that the old fox Pierce had nearly died of rage was just too funny.
Meanwhile, Isaac, who had no idea he'd driven Pierce to the brink of collapse, had already returned to a base on an island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, bringing three individuals with him.
"This man seems to have undergone some kind of brainwashing. Make sure you completely reprogram him. And of course—he must swear loyalty to me!"
He said it casually while glancing at the Winter Soldier, handing him over to the person in charge of the base.
That person was Shiho Miyano, also known as Ai Haibara—a character from the Detective Conan world, once considered a villain and the inventor of the APTX4869 drug (which de-ages people, albeit not very reliably).
She had been summoned by the system when Isaac turned 17 in this world. Though she never understood how she was pulled into a different universe, she didn't care—so long as she had a secure place for her research, which Isaac had provided.
After glancing at the Winter Soldier, she turned to Isaac with a spark of excitement:
"I remember you mentioned this man. If you don't mind, can I borrow his body for a few days for research? He might be useful to my experiments."
In truth, Ai wasn't just managing the base; she was also leading a major research project—developing the Elixir of Life.
Isaac himself didn't need it. After all, thanks to one of the abilities he'd acquired, he had already achieved immortality.
But his human subordinates could greatly benefit from the Elixir.
"This one?"
Isaac hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Fine—but don't kill him. We might need him later."
Ai, clearly thrilled, couldn't help but brag:
"Believe me! APTX4869 is now stable. It can consistently regress the user to the age of 10, with no side effects!"
Isaac felt a bit uneasy hearing this—it seemed she was making faster progress with the rejuvenation drug than with the immortality project—but he didn't discourage her.
Instead, he encouraged her:
"Then keep going. If you've managed to perfect the rejuvenation drug, the Elixir of Life shouldn't be far off."
"Don't worry! I think I'll have a breakthrough within a few years!"
After she left, the Ghost, standing nearby, muttered:
"This girl can't be older than 16, right? And you're letting her run a military base? Your organization... doesn't exactly inspire confidence."
Isaac rolled his eyes and smirked:
"You won't believe it, but she's older than you!"
In fact, the Shiho Miyano summoned by the system was indeed Ai Haibara, who had taken the APTX4869 and shrunk to the appearance of a ten-year-old. But biologically, she was over thirty, making her, indeed, older than The Ghost.
