Chapter 21: The Ghost's Temptation
"Now that it's just the two of us, can we have a proper conversation?" Isaac asked the Ghost with a smile.
He had always admired competent people.
"Who are you?"
The Ghost asked, somewhat intrigued but trying to stay calm.
"Allow me to formally introduce myself — Isaac LeClerc, Master of the Celestial Dome. On its behalf, I sincerely invite you to join us."
Isaac extended his right hand toward the other party and said in a low, alluring voice:
"By joining us, your problems can be solved. By joining us, you can be redeemed. What are you waiting for? After all, you're already working for others — why not change sides for the better?"
Isaac continued to implant his thoughts deep into the Ghost's mind.
The technique wasn't direct brainwashing — it was a psychological suggestion meant to influence the target deeply.
The Ghost, who was already somewhat tempted by the offer, now found Isaac's mesmerizing words echoing in her mind.
Yes! I've been in the SHIELD corps for so long, and they still can't fix my physical issues…
After several moments of thought, the Ghost finally nodded.
"Then it's clear. I'll follow you!"
The Ghost bowed in acceptance.
"Very good," Isaac nodded in satisfaction.
Another powerful combatant had joined the Celestial Dome. It was expected that this addition would significantly boost the Marvel List rewards of their organization to a whole new level.
Shortly after Isaac left with the Ghost, Johnny Storm and Bucky Barnes, a Quinjet flew invisibly overhead.
Clint Barton (Hawkeye) disembarked and surveyed the wrecked battlefield, an uneasy feeling creeping up inside him.
He quickly reported through his mic:
"Director, I have some bad news. We may be too late."
Nick Fury, far away at SHIELD HQ, frowned upon hearing the report.
The thing he feared most had happened.
When Thor started his live broadcast, people were dispatched to Tony Stark's villa, and the time gap was less than ten minutes…
But still, someone beat them there.
What does that mean?
It clearly meant that there was a flaw in SHIELD!
It also meant Hydra's strength was far greater than anticipated — their efficiency had surpassed SHIELD's.
"Clean up the battlefield and make sure Stark is safe. As for the kid named Johnny Storm, rescue him if possible."
Nick Fury sighed quietly, then picked up a nearby cookie and ate it.
"These days just keep getting harder…"
After exiting the jet, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) stood beside Tony Stark. Once she confirmed his safety, she breathed a sigh of relief and said to Hawkeye:
"The playboy is fine. Looks like he's in a coma. But the boy called Human Torch is missing. And… a third party clearly intervened in the battle. Luckily, they didn't succeed."
"They look like Hydra soldiers," Hawkeye said seriously as he examined the corpses, "but their deaths are suspicious."
"What do you mean?" Natasha raised an eyebrow.
The corpses had no visible wounds.
Hawkeye's analysis was straightforward:They had all died in a moment — unexplained brain death, like someone had simply shut them down.
"Could it be poison?" Natasha asked skeptically.
Hawkeye shook his head:
"No poison acts that fast and clean. These people died without resistance... like they were put into eternal sleep."
Natasha stared at the dead Hydra soldiers, a chill running down her spine.
As an elite agent, she realized something horrifying — whoever did this could kill her just as easily, without her even realizing it.
"Get Stark medical attention immediately. We don't know if that mastermind will return," she ordered.
Hawkeye nodded silently, glancing around warily.
Meanwhile, in Asgard.
Thor returned home with a disfigured face, only to be met — not by his mother's concern — but by Odin's thunderous rage.
As Thor attempted to explain what had happened, Odin angrily cut him off.
Already in a terrible mood because of his facial injury, Thor snapped back.
And so, Odin sealed Thor's divine powers and banished him again to Earth.
