Marvel : Strongest Siblings

Chapter 272: Marvel 272

Lumia rushed back to her residence, her steps light but quick, excitement buzzing through her veins. It had been six years. Six whole years since she had seen her brother face to face. Letters weren't the same. News wasn't the same.

And now… he was finally here.

She pushed the door open—and there he was.

Max, casually leaning by the window, looking out at the city with his usual calm, unreadable expression. But the moment her presence entered the room, his eyes softened.

Lumia didn't hesitate. She darted forward and practically slammed into him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Took you long enough," she mumbled into his chest, her voice muffled but carrying a clear mix of teasing and genuine emotion. "Six years… and you finally decided to come meet your little sister."

Max chuckled lightly, his hand gently resting on the back of her head. "I had to make sure I came back with enough accomplishments to impress you," he joked softly, his other hand ruffling her hair.

Lumia pulled back just enough to look up at him, her eyes shimmering slightly with emotion, but her smirk still in place. "Hmph, you better have. Otherwise, I was planning to scold you for disappearing so long."

Max laughed. "Guess I'll have to accept that scolding anyway. I missed you too, brat."

The warm reunion lingered a moment longer, before Lumia tugged his hand. "Come on, Bibi Dong wants to meet you."

"Oh?" Max raised an eyebrow. "The Supreme Pontiff herself?"

"Yup. She's curious… and maybe a little suspicious." Lumia grinned. "Try not to flirt with her, yeah? I like being her favorite student."

Max gave a mock sigh. "I make no promises."

The grand halls of Spirit Hall were quiet, yet carried a heavy, dignified atmosphere as Max walked beside Lumia. The marble floor reflected their silhouettes, and Spirit Masters passing by instinctively moved aside, sensing the faint yet undeniable pressure rolling off Max.

It didn't take long to reach the Pope's Hall.

Bibi Dong sat on her throne, poised and elegant, clad in her ceremonial robes. The sharpness of her gaze softened only slightly when Lumia entered, but the moment her eyes landed on Max, there was a flicker of curiosity—and guarded interest.

Max's expression was calm, the faintest smirk on his lips as he casually tucked his hands in his pockets. Lumia, still holding his arm, whispered up at him, "Behave."

"No promises," Max whispered back with a teasing glint.

Lumia rolled her eyes, but they stepped forward together.

Bibi Dong's voice was steady, laced with authority. "So… you're the infamous elder brother."

Max inclined his head slightly. "Max. Or Mo Tian, if you prefer the formalities."

Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "Honorary Elder of Spirit Hall… and Dean of Ghidorah Academy. Quite the titles for someone your age."

Max shrugged faintly. "I believe in earning my place. Not waiting for it to be handed to me."

Bibi Dong's lips twitched faintly, an expression between amusement and appraisal. "Modest too, I see."

Lumia interjected with a grin, "He's worse than he looks, trust me. But he means well… sometimes."

Bibi Dong chuckled softly—a rare sound, even Lumia noticed. "Well, Mo Tian… it seems you've managed to stir quite the reputation. And yet… here you are, quietly visiting your little sister."

Max's gaze softened briefly as he glanced at Lumia. "Some things matter more than reputation."

Bibi Dong's smile grew slightly, though her eyes still assessed him carefully. "Good. I'd hate to think my best student's brother was all bark and no substance."

Max chuckled. "You're welcome to test that theory anytime, Your Holiness."

The teasing laced with unshakable confidence made even Bibi Dong arch an eyebrow.

"Careful," Lumia muttered under her breath, elbowing him lightly. "I still have to train here."

Max only grinned wider.

Bibi Dong leaned back slightly on her throne, a rare glimmer of playfulness dancing in her sharp violet eyes.

"So? Did you come here to admire me, Mo Tian? Or perhaps… you're here to try and pursue me?"

She smirked faintly. "I don't envy your courage, I must say."

Max chuckled lazily, clearly unfazed. "I don't chase things I can't catch. Besides, I didn't come for that."

His gaze steadied as he reached into his spatial ring, pulling out a glistening External Spirit Bone. It pulsed faintly with poisonous energy—the fairy-like wings crafted from the Venomspike Centipede

"I came to give this to you," he said, tossing it casually in his palm before catching it again. "An External Spirit Bone I just happened to find during our little trip. You could call it… an accident of fate."

Bibi Dong's eyes gleamed, but she remained composed. "Found? Or stolen?" she asked knowingly.

Her words hit the mark perfectly.

Max's smirk deepened. "Let's just say… it was originally meant for someone else, but I claimed it first. Survival of the fittest, you know?"

Bibi Dong laughed softly, clearly amused. "Too bad you're late. Your sister already has an External Spirit Bone."

Max raised an eyebrow. "Oh? When did that happen?"

Without a word, Lumia stepped forward and smiled as a brilliant pair of crystalline butterfly wings burst open from her back. The wings were elegant, almost ethereal, shimmering in soft hues of pale blue and violet, patterned like lace with a mesmerizing glow.

"I got them while hunting for my third spirit ring," Lumia said proudly, flapping them slightly as spirit energy fluttered in the air like tiny sparks.

"It came from a rare beast called the Soul-Luring Butterfly. They say it's so rare most Spirit Masters never even see it, but it appeared in front of me, and somehow… the External Spirit Bone fused with me during the ring absorption."

Max's eyes narrowed in faint surprise. "A Soul-Luring Butterfly? That's an spiritual type beast."

Bibi Dong smiled knowingly. "She's always been lucky you can say."

She then glanced at the External Spirit Bone still in Max's hand. "Seems you'll have to choose someone else to gift it to now."

Max spun the bone on his fingertip. "Not a problem. I came with several… I have plenty of people I care about."

Bibi Dong's gaze lingered on him. "You know, you're far more interesting than I expected."

Max gave her a casual wink. "And you've only seen the surface."
