Chapter 211: MD-Chapter 210 In the Name of the All-Father
By the time Arthur arrived in haste, Thor and Tony were on the verge of a real clash. The Quinjet was faster than Arthur, so by the time he got there, he saw Steve descending from the sky.
From his intention, it seemed he was trying to mediate, but his mediation failed and he quickly joined the fray!
The battle was chaotic and without any reason. Arthur's gaze remained calm as he scanned the scene from the sidelines and noticed Loki, who was watching with interest.
Loki's calm demeanor suggested he had no intention of fleeing from this place.
Arthur exhaled softly before dismissing the Abomination, and with a few Blinks, he arrived next to Loki. He looked at the chaotic battle not far away and asked, "Is it interesting?"
"Not bad."
Loki glanced at Arthur, saying: "What exactly is your goal? You had the chance to send me back to Asgard directly, but you didn't. I don't believe you're after the Tesseract like they are!"
Arthur thought for a moment and replied, "If it were before, I would have avoided the Tesseract like the plague. But now, I actually find myself missing it."
Loki shook his head: "It can't be that simple."
Arthur smiled: "And you? If you took the Tesseract, what are you planning to do with it?"
Loki had a strange expression on his face as he replied back: "How about a trade? You tell me yours, and I'll tell you mine."
"Unfortunately, I don't believe a single thing that is coming out of your mouth."
Arthur smiled, then his expression turned serious: "But Loki, I hope to learn to trust you now."
"That will be the beginning of your nightmare," Loki spoke with rare sincerity.
Arthur nodded: "I truly believe that statement."
"Hahaha!" Loki laughed heartily: "Talking to you is much more interesting than watching those three fight."
"You haven't run away. Do you have a purpose in being captured?" Arthur said. "It doesn't matter; whatever your goal, you're unlikely to succeed in my view."
Loki's expression grew cold upon hearing that.
Arthur smiled: "Don't misunderstand. It's not that I look down on you. It's just that we're a bit more capable… that's all."
"Then how about a bet?"
Loki looked at Arthur and said: "If I successfully take control of Earth, you'll pledge your allegiance to me. I'll grant you vast lands and women. You won't have to worry about where to live; Earth will be like your palace!"
"Alright."
Arthur smiled: "But what if you can't?"
Loki looked at Arthur: "I won't make any rash promises."
Arthur chuckled: "Then how about three things? If you can't do it, you'll have to do three things for me in the future!"
"Three things? What kind?" Loki asked.
"You do know you're going to lose," Arthur said with a smile. "Otherwise, why are you so eager to know such details?"
"Agreements need to be fair." Loki said coolly: "Otherwise, if you ask me to do things I can't, it's better not to make a deal at all."
"I haven't decided on the three things yet."
Arthur thought of a certain novel's female protagonist and smiled: "But rest assured, these three things will definitely be within your capabilities. And they won't infringe on Asgard's interests."
"Asgard's interests? What does that have to do with me?"
Loki's expression turned cold again.
"Aren't you the self-proclaimed rightful ruler of Asgard?" Arthur said with amusement. "Now you're saying this? It seems you're ready to give up?"
"No!"
After Loki responded, he frowned and looked at Arthur: "Continue discussing our agreement."
This was a baffling tangent!
Arthur smiled: "Alright then, it's roughly like this. First, if you do succeed, I will pledge my allegiance to you in the future. On the other hand, if you fail, you will have to agree to three things for me! To be honest, this isn't exactly fair to me!"
"Agreeing to this kind of deal is already the greatest mercy I can offer you!" Loki said coolly. "So, let's settle it…"
"Wait a moment." Arthur shook his head: "Do you think I'll believe you based on empty words?"
"What more do you want?" Loki frowned at Arthur.
"Simple." Arthur said: "Swear by the name of the All-Father!"
Loki's eyes flared with anger: "Mortal! You are trampling on the dignity of gods!"
"Alright, alright."
Arthur said: "Aside from this, I won't trust you. If you're not willing to do this then I'll take you straight to Asgard now. As for the Tesseract… they care about it, but I'm not so concerned."
Loki took a deep breath and nodded silently: "This is the last time!"
After making the oath in the name of the All-Father, Loki, still fuming, glared at Arthur.
Arthur smiled: "The magic staff you hold can influence people's minds. If the Avengers truly unite, they could unleash unimaginable power. What do you think will happen if such a magic staff is placed among them… to people who are already not united?"
Loki's pupils contracted, and he squinted: "It seems you're not united with them either."
Arthur shook his head: "No, I'm just thinking further ahead than they are. Right now, it's just you… Loki, what will happen in the future might be beyond your imagination. Before that, I just hope everyone is prepared."
"What do you mean by that?" Loki was taken aback.
"You'll find out soon." Arthur smiled: "The battle is over."
As Thor summoned thunder and delivered a terrifying blow, it landed squarely on Steve's shield.
The resulting force caused all three to collapse, and the battle came to an end.
When they got up, each had calmed down. Thor realized he couldn't take Loki away, and Arthur made it clear he had no intention of joining the fray, indicating a mutual non-interference.
Under these circumstances, they had to follow Tony and Steve's lead and first detain Loki.
After locating the Tesseract, Thor could then take Loki away!
Once the agreement was reached, the three approached Arthur.
"Long time no see, my friend!" Thor said to Arthur.
"Instructor, are you alright?" Steve asked Arthur.
"Old people shouldn't stay up all night. Look at the time!" Tony said to Arthur.
Afterwards, the three of them exchanged glances.
"Speaking of which, we've fought for so long…"
Tony thought for a moment and said: "What exactly was it all for?"
