Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 168: Chapter 168 : Magneto joining and Strange desire

Professor X's words startled Magneto.

Magneto turned his head to look at his old friend, who stared back with wide eyes. He hadn't expected Charles to join Hell's Kitchen before him.

"Good job, Charles, you're one step ahead of me. But it was clearly me who came here first, old Six," Magneto thought.

Then, hastily, he said to Alex Ray, "We—the Brotherhood of Mutants—are also preparing to settle Hell's Kitchen!"

Magneto, worried his old friend might steal the spotlight, no longer cared about appearances.

Alex Ray looked at the two old men with some surprise. He hadn't expected both to want to stake a claim in Hell's Kitchen.

"When did Hell's Kitchen become so popular? Everyone's desperate to escape it, but these two old veterans are inviting mutants in," Alex thought.

He wasn't worried about any conspiracy. He wasn't afraid of anyone who showed up—after all, any schemes meant nothing against true strength.

Although he was tempted by the idea of mutants joining Hell's Kitchen, he still said, "I have no problem with that, but it depends on what the other mutants think. You two can't make decisions on their behalf without authorization."

Alex wasn't concerned about Hell's Kitchen becoming even more chaotic with mutants coming in. The people here weren't afraid of mutants. At worst, there'd be a fight. Strength was the only law that mattered.

Professor X smiled slightly at this.

He understood Alex's concerns and explained, "Don't worry, I will respect their opinions." He paused, then continued, "In truth, I'm doing this for the future of mutants. If one day I can no longer protect them, at least they'll have a place in Hell's Kitchen. If they live well here, it will prove this is a place suitable for mutants and may even change the minds of those reluctant to come."

Magneto nodded. Though impulsive, he understood Charles's intent.

He believed that once mutants gained a foothold in Hell's Kitchen, they could build a new world.

After hearing this, Alex nodded in understanding.

Still, he said seriously, "Let me be frank. There will be no special treatment for mutants here. I treat everyone equally. If they mess up, don't blame me for being ruthless."

His gaze fixed on Magneto, reminding him that the Brotherhood mutants were troublemakers who needed discipline.

Magneto understood the message and responded confidently, "Don't worry. I won't force anyone to join. But if any mutant does cause trouble, I'll personally teach them a lesson."

His words radiated determination, as if he already envisioned mutants rising in Hell's Kitchen.

Seeing Magneto agree, Alex smiled like a savvy businessman. "Since mutants are joining Hell's Kitchen, we need to arrange accommodations for them. That's a significant expense. How much are you willing to contribute? Wanda, the rest is up to you."

Alex stood, preparing to leave.

Wanda nodded at Alex's words, then looked at Magneto and Professor X.

Alex's sudden shift surprised the two mutants. They sighed silently—clearly, the Lord of Hell loved money like life itself; his reputation was well-earned.

Professor X shook his head but didn't argue. After all, he did have some savings.

Magneto looked at Wanda pleadingly, as if begging her.

He didn't have much money and felt embarrassed. He hoped Wanda would reduce his costs for his sake as her father.

But Wanda seemed unaware of Magneto's silent plea. She began detailing the expenses, listing every item: rent, renovation, daily necessities, all down to the cent.

Alex ignored the ensuing questions and walked straight toward Doctor Strange, who remained seated at the table.

Alex knew Strange hadn't left Hell's Kitchen—he was waiting for him.

Strange's reputation in Hell's Kitchen was well-known; many said he had saved countless lives.

"A man with a sharp tongue but a soft heart," Alex mused internally.

Alex sat opposite Strange, looking him in the eyes and joked, "Why are you still here? Don't you hate Hell's Kitchen?"

A flicker of confusion and bewilderment crossed Strange's face.

He frowned slightly and said with a hint of helplessness, "Tell me, can studying medicine really change anything? Seeing people like you with superpowers, I'm honestly a bit envious."

Everything Strange experienced that day had felt like a nightmare, shaking him deeply.

He'd witnessed incredible powers, from the enchanted horse charm Deadpool wielded to the legendary Senzu Bean—and each scene left him stunned.

Alex had told him that the one granting these powers was the man in front of him.

It made Strange reflect—was all his medical study really comparable to these seemingly magical powers?

Alex saw the look on Strange's face and felt sympathy.

He understood how Strange felt but couldn't reveal his future.

He couldn't tell Strange he would soon be in a car accident, be saved by a bald wizard, and eventually become the Sorcerer Supreme.

So Alex gently asked, "Strange, do you really want superpowers?"

Strange hesitated, then nodded, "If possible, yes. But the condition is I don't become too ugly."

Alex looked at him and made a decision.

He resolved to take Strange to Kamar-Taj and introduce him to the Ancient One early.

Maybe Strange wouldn't have to wait for a car accident to become the Sorcerer Supreme.

Alex said, "Okay, stay in Hell's Kitchen for today. Tomorrow morning, I'll take you to meet someone."

Strange asked curiously, "Who?"

Alex replied slowly, "Someone you're destined to meet. Someone who can give you the powers you desire."

Strange's eyes shone with surprise and hope.

With Strange's agreement, Alex asked Pietro to arrange a room for Strange to stay one night.

Then Alex prepared to go upstairs to check the system and organize his gains.
