Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Nick Fury committed suicide out of fear of punishment?
The residents of Hell's Kitchen watched in disbelief as the federal government troops and army forces retreated one after another. It was like a frozen lake suddenly cracking open.
Some eyes flickered with numbness from the aftermath of war, as if silently asking, "Is this real?"
Others widened their eyes, unable to believe what they were witnessing.
Suddenly, a faint voice broke the silence, trembling like leaves caught in the wind: "We won?"
That small question seemed to awaken the crowd. Heads lifted, hope sparking in their eyes.
"We won! We actually defeated the government and the army!" The words spread through the crowd like wildfire, repeated over and over, as if trying to confirm it was not a dream.
Faces lit up with surprise and disbelief, exchanging looks that asked, "Is this really true?"
But no one celebrated just yet.
They feared it was a trick—some government trap or counterattack waiting to happen.
So they watched, alert, waiting for any unexpected moves.
When it became clear that every government agent and soldier had fully withdrawn, the pent-up emotions finally exploded.
"We won!!!" The shout spread like a storm, filling the streets. People cheered and jumped with joy.
Their faces were glowing with pride, as if this moment was the greatest of their lives.
"We survived!" The words flowed through their hearts like a warm current, bringing deep gratitude.
They were grateful to Alex Ray, the Lord of Hell, for leading them through the war.
They were grateful for their own choice to believe—and for surviving against all odds.
Looking back, every Hell's Kitchen resident had once been terrified.
They knew the government's power and had gone into battle ready to die.
But they never gave up. They chose to believe in Alex Ray and fought for their survival.
Now victory was theirs, and tears flowed freely—tears of joy and sorrow mingled together.
They embraced each other, crying with relief and pain.
Shouting his name loud into the night: "Alex Ray, the Lord of Hell!!!"
The cry echoed, a tribute to the man who gave them hope and courage—who led them to win this seemingly impossible war.
From this moment on, Hell's Kitchen was no longer a symbol of fear and despair.
It became a beacon of courage and resilience.
They proved that even against overwhelming odds, faith and courage could bring victory.
"You son of a bitch, the government's not going to just give up on Hell's Kitchen that easy!"
"Fuck the army!"
The vulgar gang members found release in this special night and began celebrating noisily.
Usually hiding in dark corners, living on society's margins, they'd been terrified of the war to come.
After all, their fights were usually small-scale skirmishes—never a war like this.
This was their first experience with something so massive.
Their excitement and relief overflowed.
Some street prostitutes celebrated by inviting clients home for free tonight.
For them, this might be the most special night of their lives—and maybe everything would change tomorrow.
Arms dealers seized the opportunity, loudly promoting their weapons and ammo.
"Need more firepower? Today, all rifles are 5% off! Buy bullets, get extras free! Only today!"
Their voices echoed through the night like a chaotic soundtrack.
But the festive mood didn't last long.
A gang leader shouted proudly: "Today, all the leaves are free to smoke!"
Suddenly, a chill swept the air.
Realizing his mistake, he quickly corrected himself: "No leaves, no leaves! I mean drinks—on me!"
His words trembled with fear and tension. He'd felt the threat hanging in the air.
The threat came from Alex Ray, the Lord of Hell, and his financial backer Tony Stark, soaring high above.
In the past, Alex Ray might've made an example out of someone to scare the rest—but today was special, so a small slip wouldn't matter.
Right now, Alex was pulling Tony aside, trying to convince him to invest more money in rebuilding Hell's Kitchen.
Meanwhile, outside Hell's Kitchen, the rest of the New York was in shock and despair.
They couldn't believe the government had lost to a tiny neighborhood.
Anger and confusion filled their hearts.
"Give me back my money!!!"
Their shouts filled the air: "Taxpayer money wasted like this?"
"Can't even beat a bunch of sewer rats?"
Doubts and worries about the future took hold.
"It's over. Will the Lord of Hell take revenge on us? We can't stay in the New York anymore!"
Some already feared future retribution from Alex Ray.
But neither Hell's Kitchen residents nor the remaining X-Men knew a much greater threat was looming over the entire city.
. . . . .
Inside the White House
"Who authorized those Nuclear explosions?" the nation's leader roared.
"And not just one—three massive blasts? Are they trying to level the entire city?"
"The New York is one of our most important cities! The whole world is watching. Everyone thinks we're starting World War III!"
"If other countries see us bombing ourselves, America will become a laughingstock."
"Find the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately—and have him shot on the spot!"
The secretary whispered urgently, "Sir, it's Nick Fury. We just received news that he committed suicide out of fear of prosecution. The current S.H.I.E.L.D. director is a white man named Pierce."
The leader's rage boiled over. "Suicide out of fear? How dare he! He deserves to die! How dare he throw away his life so easily!"
"I don't care what it takes—stop those explosions immediately! If you don't, you'll all die!"
The leader was in chaos. If the blasts truly leveled the city, his career would be over—and maybe his life, too.
After all, there must be someone to blame.
Nick Fury, the usual scapegoat, was already dead.
If Alex Ray heard this, he would scoff—it was impossible for Fury to kill himself out of fear.
There was definitely a conspiracy at play.
