Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 153: Chapter 153 : The war is finally over!

Alex Ray stopped what he was doing. His eyes were cold and unwavering, like the cutting wind of winter—sharp enough to pierce into a person's soul.

His gaze slowly shifted between Magneto and Professor X before settling on the latter. A mocking smile curled at the corner of his lips as he spoke slowly, "What is this? Beat the kid and the elder shows up to clean up the mess?"

The words struck deep, like a thorn embedding itself into Professor X's heart.

Seated in his wheelchair, Xavier's expression turned complicated—a blend of helplessness, bitterness, and profound regret.

He knew Alex Ray's anger wasn't directed solely at him, but at the X-Men as a whole, and the chaos their presence had brought to Hell's Kitchen.

Alex wasn't surprised Magneto had come; after all, he had already encountered his daughter, Polaris.

Magneto clearly cared a great deal about Wanda.

Alex had no warm feelings toward Magneto, nor did he recognize him as a father-in-law despite the familial ties. But since Magneto was Wanda's biological father, Alex was willing to extend a minimal level of respect.

What he didn't realize was that Magneto wasn't just here for Wanda—he now wanted to join Hell's Kitchen and follow Alex Ray.

Still, Alex showed no goodwill toward Professor X. It was Xavier's X-Men who had helped reduce Hell's Kitchen to rubble.

Rebuilding and repairs would take a significant amount of time. That's why Alex was so furious earlier.

If not for the fact that Professor X was in a wheelchair, and Magneto was present, and that Charles Xavier was, at heart, a decent man—Alex wouldn't have held back.

Alex had to admit, Professor X was an extraordinary individual, and his telepathic powers were terrifying. If he ever wished to, Xavier could control humanity in an instant.

If Charles harbored even a hint of malice, he could force humanity to accept mutants in the blink of an eye—or use his powers to shape the utopia of his own vision.

But he never had. That's what Alex admired most.

The ability to destroy the world, yet choosing not to. That was admirable. Alex wasn't sure he could do the same.

Still, admiration was one thing. Taking sides was another.

At this moment, Alex and Professor X stood on opposite sides of the battlefield, and Alex had no reason to be pleasant.

Choosing not to fight was the highest form of respect he could offer.

Although Professor X couldn't read Alex's mind directly, he could sense the rejection radiating from his expression.

He knew he was in the wrong and didn't argue. In truth, Xavier never wanted this conflict. His original intentions were just posturing. The orders he gave the X-Men had only been for show.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been chatting casually with Magneto. If Xavier had truly used his powers, he could've seized control of every person in Hell's Kitchen—Alex's allies included—without effort.

"Thank you, Lord of Hell... or perhaps, may I call you Alex Ray?" Xavier said gently, his tone warm and grandfatherly.

He was expressing gratitude for Alex stopping Jean Grey from losing control completely.

"I apologize. I admit, the attack on Hell's Kitchen was my mistake. I misjudged the situation. I'm willing to offer reparations," Xavier said with sincerity.

Of course, he also knew Alex might not accept the apology. It was like the end of a war—when the defeated had no choice but to compensate the victors.

"Hmph. You think you can just waltz into Hell's Kitchen and leave whenever you feel like it?" Alex sneered.

He truly didn't understand why everyone treated Hell's Kitchen like it was weak and easy to push around.

If he had lost today, it wouldn't just be him who died—everyone in Hell's Kitchen, his family included, would've been slaughtered.

Suddenly, Beast—Hank McCoy—arrived on the scene. Misinterpreting the tense atmosphere, he thought Alex was about to attack Professor X.

With a roar, he transformed into his monstrous form and lunged toward Alex.

But before he could make it halfway, Hank was slammed into the ground by a crushing gravitational force conjured by Alex Ray.

And Beast wasn't the only one to act—Alex's own forces had silently assembled nearby.

They had never truly left.

Alex didn't even glance at the struggling Beast. His focus remained fixed on Professor X.

His voice was calm, almost playful: "What now? You planning to start another fight?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Professor X's expression changed drastically.

He could feel several overwhelming presences rising from the surrounding area.

One came from the rooftop—a presence like a solitary white wolf, proud and elusive.

Another felt like a massive black : enormous, yet agile beyond reason.

A third gave off the aura of a platinum-colored, enraged King Kong—majestic and brimming with force.

In the distance, a golden energy shimmered like the boundless sky.

But what truly unsettled Xavier was a red presence—filled with malevolence and mystery, so cold and unnatural it made his skin crawl.

His heart tightened. These weren't just background forces—they were Alex Ray's people.

Usually harmless, even eccentric, these individuals would not hesitate to step forward if Alex was threatened.

Even Deadpool, typically the clown of the room, was dead silent now. He had drawn his twin katanas and fixed his gaze squarely on Wolverine.

His eyes burned with an unusual seriousness, wordlessly declaring: "If you dare harm Alex Ray, I will take your head without a second thought."

Professor X understood clearly: the Lord of Hell wasn't bluffing.

So he quickly raised his hands in peace. "We truly mean no harm. Just name your terms. This time, it's my fault."

Then he turned to Magneto, who had been silent the whole time, silently pleading for support.

Magneto felt the pressure. He wasn't sure even he had enough sway to stop Alex Ray from tearing them apart.

But to save face in front of his longtime friend, he stepped forward, casually clapping a hand on Alex's shoulder.

"Come on, do me a favor. I'll vouch for Charles," he said, trying to sound lighthearted.

Alex shot him a look of disdain. He didn't know what was up with the old man acting like they were so close.

But Magneto's pleading eyes were clear—he was asking for a favor.

When Alex didn't immediately respond, Magneto leaned in and whispered something in his ear.

Alex's eyes widened in disbelief.

This old guy… was even more ambitious than him.

He wanted to relocate all the mutants into Hell's Kitchen.

And to Alex's surprise… he was tempted.

Given that both mutant leaders were present—well, maybe this could actually work.

Alex Ray narrowed his eyes slightly. Something didn't add up.

Magneto's sudden goodwill, Professor X's silence, and now the federal troops withdrawing without warning—everything pointed to a deeper scheme. He glanced at Tony, who also seemed puzzled.

Tony asked, "Did you do something? Or did someone else step in?"

Alex Ray shook his head. "Not me. Someone higher up must've intervened."
