Martial Emperor of Blue Star, Turned into a Blood Slave Girl by a Vampire Princess

vol. 1 chapter 36 - ·

Degrienne took a deep breath. An indescribable suffocation welled up from her chest.
It felt like something was stuck in her throat—neither swallowable nor spit-outable.

“What the hell am I doing…” she muttered, her voice barely audible.
She’d only obeyed because Catherine threatened her. She had followed every step exactly as that ancient witch had demanded—
And in the end, she still got called a dog.
Degrienne bit her lower lip hard, only releasing it when the taste of blood spread across her tongue.

And yet… the image of herself, tail all but wagging in submission, flashed in her mind—
Wasn’t that exactly like a dog?
“Chu Zhao…”
She whispered her former name, as if saying it aloud would help her reclaim a sliver of dignity. “I am Chu Zhao…”

Her stomach growled, reminding her how long it had been since her last meal.
Irritated, Degrienne paced in circles around the chair, but hunger made her steps increasingly unsteady.
Eventually, she collapsed into the seat, listless, staring blankly at the blood pool in front of her.

That was when it hit her—the sudden, urgent need to pee.
Degrienne stiffened instantly. Only then did she realize a glaring problem—
Catherine hadn’t given her any place to relieve herself.

“That perverted old hag…” she cursed through clenched teeth, pressing her thighs together instinctively.
She held it in for a long while, but eventually, her body’s needs overwhelmed her will.
Her gaze fell on the crimson blood pool—and then, suddenly, her eyes lit up.

A wicked little plan bloomed in her mind.
If Catherine loved soaking in that blood pool so much… then let her enjoy it to the fullest.
She would absolutely give her a bath to remember.

No hesitation.
Degrienne glanced around furtively, making sure no one was present, then quickly pulled up her skirt.
A moment later, the sound of liquid splashing echoed as she emptied her bladder into the pool she could barely reach.
“Ahhh…”

The relief made her sigh out loud. Even her previous frustration seemed to wash away a little with the stream.
She imagined Catherine soaking herself in that specially seasoned pool, blissfully unaware—
And Degrienne’s lips curled ever so slightly.
But then—her smile froze.

“Wait… if she finds out…”
Terror surged like a flood.
Degrienne glanced nervously around the pitch-black chamber. Every shadow now seemed like a pair of watching eyes.

She knew no one else was supposed to be here, but still, she strained to listen.
Only when she was sure there was no one lurking did she let out a shallow breath.
“Probably… probably won’t be discovered, right?”

That moment of relief didn’t last.
A darker realization struck her—
If Catherine did find out the pool was contaminated, she’d definitely order it replaced.

And every time the pool was refilled…
…Countless innocent girls would be drained dry to make it happen.
“What have I done…” she bit down on her lip again, slender fingers digging into her palm.

Since being trapped in this dainty body, Degrienne could feel the change in herself.
Her emotions fluctuated more. Her judgment was more impulsive.
The old Chu Zhao… would never have made such a reckless mistake.

“This damned body…” she murmured, staring down at her pale, delicate hands. Her eyes stung with heat.
Once a Martial Emperor—and now reduced to petty, childish stunts to vent her rage. It was laughable.
Then, faint footsteps echoed in the corridor.

Degrienne froze. She scrambled to fix her skirt and composed herself, trying to look casual.
But the pounding of her heart betrayed her.
If she was found out—

The footsteps drew closer and closer. Cold sweat dampened her back.
She stared at the door, her mind already playing out every horrific punishment imaginable.
Then… the footsteps stopped just around the corner—
And gradually faded away.

“Phew…”
Degrienne exhaled deeply. Her entire body finally relaxed.
But then, a new wave of self-loathing crashed over her.

She curled up in the chair, burying her face between her knees.
Her silver hair fell like a curtain, hiding her expression.
Only her trembling shoulders betrayed the vulnerability and turmoil she was trying to suppress.

Suddenly, a shiver ran through her.
A creeping cold crawled across the nape of her neck, raising tiny goosebumps.
That sensation—like she was being watched—clung to her like a parasite.

Her blood froze.
She slowly turned her head, and in the dim corner of the room… she saw it.
A vague silhouette. A figure darker than the darkness around it. Standing motionless. Silent.

“Who’s there?”
Her voice rang unnaturally clear in the empty chamber, but the tremble in her tone betrayed her fear.
No response. Only the thunderous beat of her own heart.

Degrienne forced herself to sit upright.
“Catherine? Is this another one of your tricks?”
She raised her voice on purpose. “I’m warning you—I won’t fall for this—”

Her words caught in her throat.
Because she saw it clearly—the shadow swayed slightly.
As if… shaking its head.

A chill shot from the soles of her feet up to the crown of her skull.
Only then did Degrienne truly grasp her situation:
Her lightning powers were sealed. Right now, she was just a little girl with maybe a few hundred pounds of arm strength.

If that thing wanted to do something to her—
Gulp. She swallowed hard, wishing more than anything that the ancient witch would burst through the door.
Even if it meant being mocked, teased, punished—
Anything was better than facing this unknown horror alone.

And the fact that Catherine was the first person she thought of in that moment…
Shocked even her.
The chamber seemed colder now.

Degrienne hugged her knees tightly. Hunger, fear, and fatigue twisted together. Her eyelids grew heavy.
Just before her consciousness slipped away—
She thought she saw it.

That shadow in the corner…
Move an inch closer.

She didn’t know how long she’d been out.
When Degrienne next awoke, she found herself curled up on the floor.
She instinctively looked toward the corner—and her blood turned to ice.

The shadow was still there.
But closer.
She could see its tall frame clearly now, standing silently only three meters away.

“You… what are you…” Degrienne’s voice caught.
She locked her eyes on the door, desperately wishing for that lazy drawl, that deep red dress.
She shrank into the chair, whispering unconsciously—

“Old witch…”
Then, more softly—
“…Catherine…”

At that very moment, the heavy stone door gave a low groan.
Warm candlelight spilled through the widening crack, illuminating Degrienne’s stunned, overjoyed face.
A sweep of deep red fabric appeared at the entrance. Catherine stepped inside with her usual grace.

Degrienne leapt from the chair almost instinctively—
Only to be jerked back by the silver chain.
She froze, cheeks flushing scarlet, and quickly turned away to hide her excitement.
“Sorry, little one.”

Catherine stood before her, for once speaking in a gentle tone. “I shouldn’t have called you a dog. That was unkind of me.”
Degrienne’s eyes widened in disbelief.
This proud vampire princess—apologizing?

A strange warmth bubbled in her chest… but she immediately grew wary.
It had to be another trap.
“Hmph!” She crossed her arms, turning her head away with a haughty pout.

Catherine chuckled and trailed her fingers over her own neck. “Hungry? Come have some blood.”
Right on cue, Degrienne’s stomach growled loudly. She really was starving.
Her fangs extended. “I’ll bite you to death, just watch!”

She lunged forward—
But a cold hand caught her in mid-air.
“There’s no such thing as a free meal~” Catherine’s crimson eyes narrowed with meaning.

Degrienne bit her lip, torn between pride and desperation.
Finally, she dropped to her knees, tiny hands clutching the hem of Catherine’s skirt. Her voice barely a whisper:
“P-Please… let me drink your blood…”

The shame made her want to vanish on the spot.
But then again, this was just survival. Just strategy. Just another step toward revenge.
Maybe she’d even suck the old witch dry while she was at it.

A fair trade.
“Not convincing enough~” Catherine shook her head.
Degrienne inhaled ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) deeply, swallowed her pride, and spoke again:

“Master… please grant Degrienne your blood… I’m so hungry…”
“Now that’s better~” Catherine beamed, lifting her up in her arms.
Degrienne sank her fangs into that pale neck without hesitation, greedily drinking deep.

Catherine gently patted her back, like soothing a starving little beast.
When she’d had her fill, Degrienne licked the twin punctures absentmindedly—
Prompting Catherine to murmur, surprised: “Getting good at this, aren’t you?”

“N-Not at all!” Degrienne stammered, then suddenly remembered—“There’s a ghost in the chamber…”
“No way.” Catherine waved it off with a shrug, already turning to leave.
“Wait!” Degrienne called out. “You’re really not letting me out?”

Catherine didn’t look back.
The heavy stone door closed behind her once more, sealing Degrienne in darkness.
She slumped instantly.

Alone again.
So lonely.
