loving you was a mistake

Chapter 146: Mark’s Dominance

"Girl, your husband is something else," Gianna said, shaking her head. "He pisses me off sometimes. I mean, was that drama even necessary?" Aurora groaned and massaged her temples. "Don't get me started."

"You look stressed out, baby girl. Let me call my secretary to get you a cold orange juice," Gianna offered, reaching for the phone.

"No, it's fine. I appreciate your kindness, Gia," Aurora said, forcing a soft smile.

There was a sudden knock on the office door. "You can come in," Gianna called out.

The secretary stepped in, looking slightly uneasy. "Sorry to disturb you, madam, but Mr. Wilson is asking for Mrs. Aurora."

Gianna raised a brow. "Tell him she'll be with him shortly."

"As you say, ma'am." The secretary bowed her head respectfully and closed the door quietly.

"I guess it's time for me to take my leave, cuz," Aurora said, rising slowly.

"Ouu, I wish you could stay longer," Gianna pouted. "Why do I even have to work in the first place? I should be living my best life, sipping something cold by the beach… not buried under a pile of documents."

Aurora chuckled. "Don't be like that. It's a good thing to work hard. And don't think I'm just home doing nothing, soaking up luxury."

She continued, "Mark asked me to take a break from work after my surgery, and I agreed. But I think I'm fine now, so I'll be just as busy very soon."

Gianna sulked playfully before pulling Aurora into a hug. Just then, the office door flung open hard.Mark barged in without knocking, startling both women. "For God's sake, Mark! You scared the hell out of me!" Aurora yelled.

Mark ignored her tone, his expression unreadable. "I don't have all day. I need to take you home before I head back to the office. You told the secretary you'd be out in a minute it's been ten."

He eyed her, unbothered. "Should I really keep waiting while you chat endlessly with your cousin?"

Aurora blinked at him in disbelief. "What is your problem? Where's all this attitude coming from? I'm not a child. I can go home by myself. All you had to do was say goodbye and leave."

"Oh, we're doing this in front of your cousin?" he asked, dryly. "Yes, apparently we are."

"Aurora, let's go," he said flatly.

She let out a deep, irritated sigh and grabbed her bag. He extended his hand to her, but she walked right past him. He smirked and, without another word, scooped her up and tossed her over his shoulder.

"Ouu! A dominant man," Gianna teased, laughing.

"Mark, put me down! This is so embarrassing!" Aurora shrieked, pounding his back. "I don't see the problem. You're my wife," he said calmly.

Aurora kept hitting him, shouting his name, but Mark didn't seem the least bit fazed. As they walked through the office building, employees stopped and stared in stunned silence. "Mark! Everyone's watching! Put me down!"

"They're watching because you're yelling. If you kept quiet, they wouldn't have noticed," he replied coolly.

Once outside, he gently placed her into the car and sat beside her. He reached for her hand, but she turned away and crossed her arms. "Guess you're really mad," he said with a half-smile.

They drove home in silence. When they pulled up to the mansion, Mark stepped out first and walked around to open her door. Aurora got out without a word, storming ahead of him and into the house before he could speak.

Mark exhaled slowly, jaw clenched. Without a glance back, he got into the car and drove off, irritation simmering beneath his calm exterior.
