Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2
c2: Skeleton Overlord
On the road.
Klein was driving his sleek black McLaren 720S, the engine humming softly as he stared ahead, deep in thought.
In truth, Klein wasn't originally from this world.
He was a transmigrator, a soul from another dimension who had mysteriously crossed over!
Just one week ago, he had been pulling an all-nighter, grinding for his final exams back on Earth. But then, darkness overcame him, and he collapsed at his desk.
When he woke up, he found himself no longer in his apartment but inside the world of Ben 10: Omniverse.
Even more shocking, the timeline was set during the Omniverse arc, a dangerous period marked by intergalactic threats and near-apocalyptic villains.
In this new world, Klein's identity was rewritten.
He had become the grandson of Max Tennyson (Tian Mark), and the older male cousin of Ben Tennyson (Tian Xiaoban) and Gwen Tennyson (Tian Xiaowen).
His parents had disappeared under mysterious circumstances during a Plumber mission years ago. Raised by Grandpa Max in Bellwood, he had grown up as part of the Tennyson family.
At first, Klein was overwhelmed by the brutal reality of this world.
Villains like Khyber the Huntsman, Dr. Psychobos, Albedo, Malware, The Forever Knights, and Zs'Skayr (Ghostfreak's original form) loomed large in the Omniverse timeline.
Each one posed catastrophic threats, and many had previously overwhelmed Ben even at full power!
Klein knew that without serious power of his own, he wouldn't even survive a single episode of this universe's insanity.
But fate threw him a lifeline.
Only a day after awakening in this world, a pink meteor came crashing down into Bellwood's forest, right in front of him.
When he approached the crater, he found an alien-tech sphere hovering slightly above the ground, pulsating with radiant pink energy.
It opened on its own, revealing a strange-looking wrist device unlike anything in the Omnitrix database.
This was the Chaquetrix, also known as the Love Watch, reportedly developed in Sector 52, a long-lost scientific outpost of the Anur system.
Klein immediately recognized the device from certain obscure Ben 10 fanfictions he'd read about it before!
Unlike the Ultimatrix or Omnitrix, which allowed users to transform into alien species, the Chaquetrix had a vastly different function.
Instead of transformation, it summoned powerful female aliens, each uniquely designed to reflect the aesthetic preferences and genetic resonance of the user.
The watch took Klein's own DNA, tailoring the summoned alien's form, structure, and even personality quirks to align with his subconscious preferences while still retaining their biological traits and native abilities.
In short, the aliens it summoned retained their alien powers and racial traits but they all looked, sounded, and behaved strikingly similar to idealized human females.
And due to a loyalty-binding system embedded within the Chaquetrix, these female summons were 100% loyal to Klein obedient, admiring, and incapable of betrayal.
At the time, Klein didn't hesitate.
For survival and maybe, a little curiosity he strapped the Chaquetrix onto his wrist.
Upon doing so, a second interface appeared in his mind: the Love System.
As expected from a transmigrator, Klein received a cheat system to accompany his arrival in this world.
The Love System allowed him to upgrade the Chaquetrix, unlock new summons, and even exchange accumulated Love Points for gear, gadgets, or rare Plumber tech.
How were Love Points earned?
By emotionally resonating with his summoned aliens making them laugh, praise him, follow his orders with excitement, or show devotion.
From that moment on, Klein was no longer a powerless observer in the Ben 10 world.
In the span of just one week, he teamed up with Ben and the others to stop alien criminals, destroy contraband portals, and protect Bellwood.
Thanks to the Chaquetrix, and his unnaturally handsome appearance sharp jawline, golden hair, and emerald green eyes Klein quickly amassed a global fanbase.
Especially among the younger crowd.
His charisma and charm, paired with superheroic flair, made him an overnight sensation.
Especially the fangirls they were so numerous, they could form a human chain from Bellwood to Paris.
Even if he dated one fan every single day, he wouldn't run out for centuries.
Sigh… being this good-looking is a double-edged sword… Klein mused as the city lights passed him by.
...
Half an hour later.
The McLaren glided to a stop in front of a nondescript repair shop with a rusty sign overhead.
The faded lettering read: Max's Plumbing.
Klein and Ben stepped out and headed straight to the back of the shop.
Inside was a dimly lit utility room with a single marked tile near the sink.
"You ready?" Klein asked, raising a brow.
"Always!" Ben grinned, nodding enthusiastically.
Klein pulled a hidden switch in the wall.
With a sudden rumble, the floor beneath their feet opened like a mechanical iris dropping them both into darkness on a high-speed lift.
Moments later, blinding lights filled their vision.
Before them stretched the high-tech nerve center of Bellwood's secret Plumber base.
The Hydroelectric Substation, cleverly disguised below Max's Plumbing.
Scientists, Plumber agents, and even friendly aliens moved about, analyzing galactic signals and responding to emergencies.
Holograms flickered in midair, alien scripts scrolled across monitors, and diagnostic drones hovered from console to console.
Without lingering, the cousins made their way toward the residential wing specifically, Grandpa Max's quarters.
...
Inside the kitchen.
Max Tennyson, the retired Plumber legend, stood over a stove.
He was humming as he stirred a pot filled with something wriggling and gelatinous.
Tentacles occasionally slapped the pot's lid, trying to escape.
Klein's scalp tingled at the sight.
"Grandpa, still into alien cuisine, huh?" Klein chuckled nervously.
"Haha! Just in time, boys," Max grinned. "You're gonna love this. It's my new specialty: Mercurian Octopus Stew!"
As if on cue, the octopus smacked the lid again.
"Uh... I'm good, Grandpa. I already ate," Klein said quickly.
He had tried Max's cooking once. Once was enough.
"By the way did Gwen and Kevin head out already?" Max asked, pressing the lid down firmly.
The tentacles twitched in protest.
"Yeah, Gwen started college in another city," Klein answered.
"And Kevin went with her," Ben added, his tone a bit muted.
Kevin had been his friend and rival since their teenage years. Gwen even more so.
They'd fought monsters together, stopped interdimensional threats and now they were moving on.
The kitchen fell into a momentary silence.
Max looked at Ben's expression and smiled warmly.
"Don't worry, Ben. It's not forever."
"They'll be back. In the meantime, why not stay at the base a while? I'll whip up more of my special stew for you!"
Ben's face turned pale. "N-No thanks, Grandpa! I'm totally fine!"
lein laughed, "Looks like Grandpa's 'tonic' has mysterious powers. It cured Xiao Ban just by mentioning it, no need to taste it at all."
Max Tennyson chuckled but quickly grew serious. "Alright, kids, don't forget to spend more time in the Plumber Archives."
"There's a ton of combat data and tactics stored in there from generations of field agents. It'll help you both in the field."
Tian Mark's voice took on a tone of authority that neither Klein nor Ben dared to ignore.
"Okay..." Ben nodded, albeit a bit reluctantly.
Buzz!
Suddenly, a shrill security alarm blared from the upper levels of the Plumber base, accompanied by flashing red warning lights.
Both Klein and Ben exchanged a sharp look.
"Trouble. Let's move!"
…
West Bellwood.
An explosion had reduced a high-rise to a crater. Crushed concrete, twisted steel, and billowing smoke filled the air. Whatever had happened wasn't just a structural collapse—it was an intentional strike.
Klein's McLaren came to a screeching halt near the impact zone, its glossy finish coated in settling ash.
Pedestrians had already fled in panic. The streets were empty, eerily silent except for the distant wail of sirens.
"Oh man… who could've caused this kind of destruction?" Ben stepped out of the car, his jaw dropping as he took in the scene.
Klein stood beside him, his green eyes narrowing as he scanned the debris, analyzing the devastation.
If his memory was correct this wasn't random.
This kind of sheer force and precision matched only one entity's profile:
Khyber the Huntsman.
He was no ordinary villain. Khyber was a cold-blooded Alien Hunter an elite tracker trained to hunt and eliminate alien species across the galaxy. Ruthless and strategic, Khyber was also the one who wielded the Nemetrix a device designed as the anti-Omnitrix.
The Nemetrix didn't allow transformation for the user himself. Instead, it granted its power to specially trained predator-class creatures.
And it didn't select aliens at random.
It was loaded with Apex Predators beasts genetically designed to counter and destroy specific alien types from the Omnitrix database.
Like Kurodons, apex predators designed to destroy Vaxasaurians like Ben's Humungousaur.
Klein's voice was firm. "Ben, stay sharp. If this is who I think it is, we might already be surrounded."
He scanned the alleyways and rooftops. The real danger might not be the destruction but what followed it.
…
Sure enough, in the shadows of the collapsed building, a terrifying presence stirred.
A tall figure loomed skin slate-blue, eyes glowing crimson, jaw serrated like a bone saw. His armor was made from reinforced organic material—fused bone plating across his torso and limbs.
It was Khyber, the Alien Hunter.
And he wasn't alone.
Beside him stood a massive, four-legged creature his hunting hound.
It had sleek dark-blue fur, a long snout ending in jagged fangs, and twisted horns protruding from its skull. Its blood-red eyes gleamed with primal hunger. Around its neck was a mechanical red collar housing the Nemetrix itself.
"Heh… So, this is Ben Tennyson. The famous wielder of the Omnitrix."
Khyber's voice was raspy, laced with contempt.
"You've got quite the reputation, kid. Let's see if you live up to it."
He pulled from his belt a red, high-tech module about the size of a human palm. Its center was engraved with white, fang-like symbols like the jaw of a beast mid-bite.
This was the Nemetrix Core, designed by the psychotic Cerebrocrustacean rogue known as Dr. Psychobos.
The Nemetrix was so unstable and dangerous, it couldn't be used by intelligent beings without eventually destroying their minds.
But a semi-sentient, highly-trained predator? That was another matter entirely.
The Hunter Dog was the perfect host.
Khyber's eyes narrowed. "That blonde kid with Tennyson... never seen him before."
He studied Klein for a brief moment but dismissed him just as quickly.
"Hmph. Doesn't matter. I only came for Ben."
"This is just a field test. If the Nemetrix can crush a prime Omnitrix wielder, then it's ready for mass deployment."
With that, he knelt by the beast and pressed the Nemetrix core into its collar.
A surge of red energy pulsed from the device.
The beast growled, its body vibrating violently as it began to mutate.
Bones cracked. Muscle expanded. Its hide shifted and thickened.
Its new form took shape larger, bulkier, with armor-like scales and enhanced claws.
The name echoed from Khyber's lips:
"Kurodon... Let the hunt begin."
With a high-pitched whistle from Khyber, the creature let out a snarl and charged forward, the ground shaking with each paw strike.
The Nemetrix on its collar flared with pulsating red light ready to unleash Apex-tier devastation.
And Khyber?
He watched with quiet satisfaction.
Ben Tennyson's test had begun.
As for Klein?
He was just a wild card one Khyber hadn't accounted for... yet.
