Chapter 212: Power over the strong
Helen was also starting to get lazy with the test almost on the verge of ending. It was only when she saw someone stepping out of the storm that she straightened her back.
"Oh?"
Elias was the last survivor of the Destroyer Class. If he had come out when the Destroyer Class had an advantage, they could have ended this battle before Kaelen finished them off.
He was already late. The reason he was even alive after the Destroyer Faction had died, was because he was protected by the storm. Revealing himself at this point was no different than walking straight to his death.
She glanced at Elten, who had asked her to wake him up if Elias came out. She thought for a brief moment, before giving up on the thought of waking him up.
If he was awake, and Elias was in danger, then was he going to stay behind peacefully? No. She was sure that he would intervene to save his brother, interrupting the test.
If she wanted to stop him, then she would have to risk her own life. She didn't want to fight him, but she also didn't want him to interrupt in the test when it was nearing the end.
She kept Elias' arrival a secret, and didn't wake him up. She even used her abilities to cast an invisible domain around them, suppressing any noises from outside.
With the barrier, no matter how much noise was made by the students, it wouldn't be heard by Elias. Because of this, she couldn't hear anything happen on the ground either, but she didn't care about that.
Except for the areas near the storm, almost the entire surrounding had signs of destruction. Despite that, many people were still gathered near the storm, left here to guest and alert the rankers about any changes within the storm.
Elias was immediately detected by them when he stepped out of the storm. And his appearance sent an immediate shock wave to the observers.
"Look, someone came out of the storm!"
"Wait, isn't he Elias?!"
"When did he even enter the storm?"
"He must have entered before any of us arrived! It must be because only one person could pass through that storm, that no rankers from our side were able to enter!"
"So he was hiding inside the storm for so long?"
"What do you mean hiding? He was probably snatching away the treasure formed inside the storm! He must have found something really incredible!"
Almost all the observers looked at Elias with greedy eyes when they thought about the treasure that could have formed such a storm in the middle of nowhere.
Even the rankers from both sides were attracted by the storm initially, believing there to be a treasure within it. They only gave up after they failed to enter.
"Should we inform the rankers?"
"You fool, do you want the rankers to snatch away the treasure? If they came, none of us would get anything. But if we take him down, at least one of us will get the treasure! Then we can negotiate with the rankers for a better reward in exchange for the treasure!"
"What a great plan! No wonder you're a genius!"
The greedy students kept Elias's arrival a secret that was limited to themselves. None of them went to inform the rankers. There were already so many of them here. They thought that they could easily take him down.
"I know that you are a child of the Ashborn Family! But no matter how strong you are, you can't take all of us down! Hand over the treasure that you found inside."
"And if I don't?" Elias asked, raising the sniper to have the barrel resting on his shoulders.
"Then we will be forced to take you down! We might not be able to afford the consequences of killing you, but it won't stop us from taking you down!"
The girl who had assumed the leading position amidst the group, reached out her hand. "Give us the treasure, and we won't have to hurt you!"
"You want this?" Elias straightened the sniper, and asked with a puzzled gaze.
"Is that what you found inside that storm?" The girl looked at the gun, which certainly had a very unique aura around it. "Hand it over! And after that, strip yourself down to nothing, so we can be sure that you didn't find anything else inside!"
"You want me to strip myself?"
"That's right! Throw all your clothes to us, so we can check your pockets!"
"Why don't you come here and check my pockets directly? Is there a need to embarrass people?" Elias raised a brow. He thought that they were going to rob him, but even he didn't expect for them to be so brazen.
"Stop arguing!" The girl waved her hand. Elias felt a sharp pain in his cheek. He raised his hand, and touched his right cheek, which had a small cut now. And that cut was bleeding.
"It is just a warning! Do as you are told, or it is going to be very painful for you! Next time, it will be your neck."
"Fine." Elias wanted to give them death in the first place, but he didn't expect them to give him a good reason on their own.
He was attacked first. He had all the reasons to protect himself. In the absence of his Soul Beast, he had to use his treasures, even if it wasn't allowed. He had all the justification that he needed.
"What are you thinking about? Hurry up and toss that thing here! And start stripping after that. If you make me wait longer, I might really start slicing you apart!" The girl yelled at Elias again. "I will count to three! Don't force my hand!"
She came from a mediocre family. In front of the descendants of the founding families, she doesn't even raise her voice normally. But in this situation, she felt as if she held power over Elias.
He was a descendant as well, and the feeling of being able to suppress someone like him, felt like a delicacy. She was able to let out all the frustrations in her life, while feeling powerful before a descendant.
