Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1357: Fire Fight!

'Quick poll, is it possible to slice through these rockets without incurring damage?'

[If we channel my flames into Nepherage's taboo, it should increase the lethality by a wide margin,] Blazejudicator answered. [Hell, if we use the right flames, we could wipe those rockets in a single swing.]

'Nepherage, you're cool with his?]

[Always, my lord.]

'Then let's get to it.'

...

As Zhen Liu was about to reach the point of contact with the rockets, the man soon became shrouded in a thick layer of dark blue flames that radiated a feeling of [Patience]. Not only that, but the flames began to surround the jade glaive in his hands, giving the blade a strange, complimentary yet incredibly contrasting aura of blue around its crimson jade head.

With a well-timed spin and swing of his blade, Zhen Liu sliced through the rat rockets in such a way that they didn't even have time to explode in Zhen Liu's face. Instead, they became engulfed in flames and burned away.

^Interesting...^

Dante wasn't discouraged by the fact that his attack didn't manage to inflict any real damage against his foe. Instead, he found himself asking two very important questions.

First, how did this other Lord know how to deal with the type of weapons that Dante was currently wielding?

Not even Dante himself knew where he got the idea to create these [Taboo] of his, it just felt right for him to do so.

That, and he may have seen them during his time in the cocoon.

Second, if this enemy Lord knew how to deal with these weapons, then was it possible for them to know how to use them in a more effective manner as well. Either way, Dante was going to need their batterd and unconscious body if he was going to get the answers he wanted.

But first, he had to make sure that he kept his head on his shoulders.

After Zhen Liu had sliced through the rockets, he didn't stop spinning his glaive around. In fact, the man doubled down on the act and began to spin even faster.

Once he got close enough to Dante, Zhen Liu aimed to take the man's head off in a single stroke.

[Hate Burst!]

In response to this obvious attack, though, Dante proceeded to drop to the ground before releasing a jet of flames from his gauntlets that launched him straight into the air.

This was a needlessly complicated way to dodge, but a necessary one in Dante's estimation.

If he had simply dropped to the ground or jumped directly into the air, Zhen Liu would've swung the blade in a way that would've touched him.

If Dante had attempted to sidestep, then Zhen Liu could've used to the momentum of his swing in order to reach him.

By moving in such an erratic manner, Dante had forced Zhen Liu to overcommit to an attack that caused him to completely miss.

At least, that's what Dante thought.

...

[How did we miss that?!] Nepherage roared in Zhen Liu's head. [He was right in our area-of-effect!]

'Don't worry, I have an idea,' Zhen Liu assured his valkyrian kaijin as he began to transmit a weird idea to her. 'Can you do this, yes or no?'

Nepherage was silent for less than a second before providing a resounding "yes".

'Excellent!'

[Before you commit to this act,] Blazejudicator interjected. [I have a way to enhance this plan of yours.]

'Oh?'

...

Now that his opponent's [Taboo] was stuck in the ground, Dante proceeded to use this moment as an opportunity to release a burst of black flames in the direction he had just escaped from.

The aim of this attack wasn't to necessarily burn Zhen Liu into a pile of smoldering ashes, although that was ideal. Instead, the purpose of this attack was to melt the palanquin that Zhen Liu was still standing on in order to trap him and his [Taboo] into it.

After that, Dante could unleash hell upon him with a massive barrage of firepower.

Unfortunately, blasting fire towards Zhen Liu's direction turned out to be a bad idea.

His decision to attack with the flamethrower had obscured his vision, meaning that Dante was unable to see the counterattack that Zhen Liu had prepared.

Although, calling it a counterattack was... questionable.

With his glaive impaled into the ground, Zhen Liu oriented the bottom half of the shaft so that it was pointed directly in Dante's direction.

One it was placed, Zhen Liu proceeded to cover the jade glaive in a shroud of orange flames that radiated feelings of [Gluttony].

[Hunt and grow!]

The orange flames on the glaive's shaft suddenly leaped towards the black flames that were coming down on Zhen Liu, burning the hateful black flames and feeding the purified energy directly into the [Taboo] itself.

Once there, Nepherage used the energy to extend the shaft like a telescopic bat, mimicking the movements of a certain golden staff wielded by a certain king of the monkeys.

Needless to say, Dante was more than shocked to have a stone-like shaft jammed right into his stomach.

^Oof!^

...

'Alright, time for an express shipment of pain!'

[Boo.]

[That was terrible.]

'HUSH!'

...

However, getting jabbed in the stomach was the least of Dante's woes.

Firmly grasping the side of the shaft that was closest to the glaive's head, Zhen Liu forcefully yanked the jade blade from the ground.

Once it was out, Zhen Liu had the [Taboo] retract and have it drag himself directly towards Dante like he was being dragged by a pulley.

This has the effect of immediately relieving the pressure on his abdomen, and gave Zhen Liu the chance to get up close and personal.

[Hello there!]

Now, this would've been the part where Zhen Liu would drop kick Dante into the ground and proceed to ground pound him. Unfortunately, it was now Zhen Liu's turn to be caught off-guard by his opponent.

[Rocket Tackle!]

BOOM!

[OOF!]

After Dante had fired off of his shoulder rockets from earlier, he did not immediately condense [Chaos] into them in order to reload them.

Instead, he tapped into Obsidious's [Cores] and tapped into the power of a buffalo Kaijin that was absorbed six years ago. This particular buffalo had a very straightforward charge ability that while not the strongest of this class, was still powerful enough to send Dante flying forward with enough force as to knock wind out of Zhen Liu.

Thankfully he had his [Stigma] on, or his insides would've been juiced at this exact moment.

...

'Guh! I'm gonna vomit!'

[Save it for later, Executor,] Blazejudicator interrupted despite the pain he was feeling in his own stomach. [I think this asshole is about to monologue.]

...

^I have to thank you, other Lord!^Dante roared with a mocking tone as he continued tackling Zhen Liu's stomach. ^Fighting you is making my mind work into overdrive. I have never fought this wild and dirty before! Is this how all the previous Lords fought as well, or just you?^

Instead of outright answering Dante's, honestly reasonable question, Zhen Liu decided to respond by doing a double hammer fist against Dante's back.

The sheer force was enough to send Dante flying into the ground below while launching Zhen Liu up towards the ceiling.

He didn't stay up there for long , though, as he used several jets of flame to recorrect his position in the air before launching himself down towards Dante's landig zone.

Having learned his lesson that charging at Dante was just asking for another rocket to the face, tackle or otherwise, Zhen Liu purposely positioned himself where Dante was going to land so that he could react by slicing the bastard in two with Nepherage's [Taboo].

Unfortunately, Dante apparently has the same nasty habit as Zhen Liu, or being able to evolve in the heat of battle.

As Dante was flying through the air in forceful manner, he noticed that one of his kaijin, one with a hard shell just so happened to be a chain rocket's length away.

^Oh ho....^

As such, he decided to try and mimick something he had seen several of the other warriors, and Zhen Liu, do just moments ago.

Albeit, in his own fucked up way.

'Obsidious, grab that kaijin.'

[Of course, my lord.]

A pair of claws attached to chains suddenly appeared in Dante's shoulder rockets pods before launching forward and grabbing the turtle-kaijin, moments before it could bring down a pickaxe into a rebel's skull.

Needless to say, the turtle kaijin was quite confused by this turn of events.

[Ey yo? Boss?! What the hell are you—]

^Congratulations, my dear subject,^ Dante interrupted with a sinisterly sweet tone of voice. ^You get the privilege as acting as my...what was that word? Ah, yes [Stigma].^

[What-HRK!]

As soon as the word [Stigma] registered in the kaijin's mind, a strange change began to come over both it, Dante, and Obsidious.

'Oooh! I can see that something grand will happen! Let's see how your [Stigma] can enhance my [Regalia]!'
