Chapter 101: Chapter 101: A Kiss with Blood...
On the way back, they still traveled the same route as before—Flamme didn't let Shichen simply take them directly home via spatial magic.
Shichen didn't mind, but Frieren found it rather painful, though she kept quiet about it. She had vivid memories of how Serie was treated like a pet these past two days and definitely did not want a similar experience.
Though they took their time, they managed to return a little faster, in five days. As soon as they arrived home, Frieren went to her room and fell asleep right away.
Flamme didn't rest. After gathering some things, she set off again.
She also never asked what had happened during those days—although curious, she refrained from prying into her Master's embarrassing matters.
Not everyone can disregard seniority the way Shichen does. It also has to do with how one grows up. Someone raised in a modern environment might end up disregarding the norms of "honoring one's master" and "respecting one's elders," developing some questionable attitudes.
With Flamme gone, Shichen and Frieren lived quietly together. They went to bed early, rose early, cooked and ate together, and studied magic together.
Shichen never once spanked Frieren or touched her bottom. He just tied her hair into twin-tails each day and occasionally patted her head, as if caring for a tiny cat.
Their days were calm and pleasant, and in the blink of an eye, a week passed.
That morning, upon waking up, Shichen got dressed, washed up, and then started preparing breakfast as usual.
While the fire was burning, he went to call Frieren. Perhaps out of habit, she didn't protest and obediently got up. She apparently had no desire to repeat what had happened to Serie.
The two of them ate breakfast, after which Shichen went hunting and Frieren meditated on her magic until midday.
Sensing Shichen's return, Frieren stopped meditating and opened her eyes to see him.
At first sight, she was startled—several animal carcasses were floating behind him.
"Why'd you catch so many animals?"
"No harm in having more. We can keep them fresh with ice," Shichen said with a smile as he walked past her into the small house.
"Are you…planning to leave again?" Frieren's gaze trailed him, and she asked the question directly.
Shichen halted, turned around, and gave a sheepish grin. "You guessed right."
Frieren's brow furrowed. "You weren't going to tell me? Just slip away again?"
"How could I? This time I won't leave quietly," Shichen reassured at once.
"Really?"
"I wouldn't lie to you!"
"That's more like it."
"You're not at all reluctant to see me go?" Shichen couldn't help but ask.
"What's there to be reluctant about?" Frieren's expression was flat. "It's not like you won't come back."
"Well, true enough…but I might be away for months."
"For me, even if it's years, it doesn't matter. Elves don't place much weight on time."
"Sigh, that kinda hurts my feelings." Shichen sighed.
"Then hurry up and find a way to take me with you."
"Hmm?" Shichen was startled, then looked at her with sudden delight. "You're willing to leave with me after all?"
"I never said that." Frieren turned away.
"Heh, why so shy again? Can't you just be honest?" Shichen reached out to tousle her hair, obviously in a great mood.
"Hmph! Go cook lunch already!" Frieren batted his hand away.
"Fine, fine~"
Instead of cooking right away, Shichen used some processing magic to butcher the animals thoroughly, and then preserved all the meat with ice magic so Frieren wouldn't have to worry about food for a while. With Flamme away so often, that would be convenient.
After they finished lunch, Shichen quietly left. But he didn't leave the world just yet—instead, he teleported to Serie's cave.
Serie was indeed still there, seated on the stone throne, apparently in the middle of meditation. Noticing someone suddenly appear, she opened her eyes and, sure enough, saw someone she didn't want to see.
"Shichen?! Why are you here?" Her tone showed alarm, though her face showed little expression.
Shichen guessed she was still searching for a way to deal with him after what happened.
"Can't I be here?" Shichen asked with a smile.
"Did you forget what I said before?"
"How I got here, you mean?"
"That spatial magic of yours…so it can reach this far?"
"As long as I've been somewhere, I can go back," Shichen answered, strolling up to her.
Serie's expression turned colder. "That's quite a spell."
"Want me to teach you?" Shichen teased.
"Of course I'd like to learn, but I won't be able to, will I?" Serie let out a harsh laugh.
"How so?"
She shot him a glare. "If you'd taught it to Frieren, she'd be using it—but she doesn't. So it must be impossible."
"Heh, smart. You deserve a reward." Shichen fondly ruffled her hair, then grabbed her arm and lifted her.
"You…what are you doing?" Serie didn't even resist.
"Let me sit." Shichen sat on the stone throne, pulling Serie over his lap so she was face-down across him.
"Wait…you're not going to spank me again, are you? I haven't done anything!"
"Sorry, it's become a habit."
But he changed positions, lifting her up so she was sitting sideways facing him.
"W-what do you want now?" Serie asked impatiently.
"Mm… I want to drink your blood," Shichen said, gazing at her.
Her features were indeed lovely, despite her haughty look. Elves really were naturally beautiful.
"Drink my…blood? What do you mean?" Serie frowned.
"Just that." As Shichen spoke, his eyes turned red and his canines extended a little.
"This is…?" Serie froze.
"It's another one of my abilities, called a vampire, granting me immortality."
"Vampire? Immortality? That's wonderful!"
Serie's eyes glowed with excitement.
"At first, I pitied you for being mortal, but now I don't need to worry."
"Oh? So you were worried I'd die?"
"Hmph! I don't want you dead before I've beaten you."
"Is that so…" Shichen laughed softly, hugging her tiny body. "Wait, do you mind if I feed?"
Serie allowed him. "I don't mind—just don't drain me dry."
"That's not necessary, just a bit."
"Heh, hurry then."
"This sort of thing can't be rushed. We need some…stimulation," Shichen murmured.
"What kind of—mmph!"
He placed his hands at her waist and lifted her gently. Her small frame trembled, and Shichen buried his face against her chest, inhaling the scent of this ancient elf.
"Y-you…what are you doing?" Serie's cheeks heated. The sensation was more intense than being struck, catching her off-guard.
"Not enough…" Shichen muttered, gradually moving upward to her collarbone and neck.
Smooth, flawless.
"Mm!" An involuntary gasp escaped Serie.
In that moment, Shichen's crimson eyes gleamed, and his canines pierced her neck. Blood slowly trickled out.
"Mnh…" A low moan escaped Serie's lips.
Her usual haughty expression vanished, replaced by a mesmerizing haze. Despite her small face, it didn't look out of place at all.
Her blood was excellent, prompting a silver glow from one fragment of divinity in Shichen's body. Right then, he had no attention to spare.
He withdrew from her neck, stared at her face, and kissed her deeply—intensely, almost ravenously, hugging her so tightly it felt like he might absorb her into himself.
In that moment, Serie, completely powerless to resist, could only passively accept it, weak and helpless, experiencing a kiss like she'd never known: a kiss tinged with the taste of blood.
