Chapter 402: Thousand-Mile Soul Pursuit
Chapter 402: Thousand-Mile Soul Pursuit
Jin Ren’s qi and blood surged, his body trembling from the shock. But what made it truly unbearable was the fact that Cao Cheng’an had died by his own hand.
He dared not imagine what kind of punishment Cao Zhengyu would inflict upon him upon his return. His anger boiled over, and he roared, “Who dares to toy with me like this? I swear I will tear you limb from limb!”
His fingers slowly clenched into a fist as he shouted, “Soul Binding Technique!”
A swirl of black mist gathered in his palm, condensing into a ball of dark light. Faint cries of resentment could be heard from within.
With a wave of his hand, Jin Ren commanded, “Thousand-mile soul pursuit, go!”
However, the Soul Light, confused and vengeful, foolishly rushed at him, mistaking him for the killer.
Jin Ren was furious. He crushed Cao Cheng’an’s soul light with a vicious grip and cursed, “You fool!”
With a flash of light, he transformed into a streak of radiance and sped toward Qingfeng City, the place where the initial distress signal had originated.
Moments later, he hovered above Qingfeng City, once again invoking the sinister spell.
The souls of the deceased from the city flew into his grasp. He coldly intoned, “Thousand-mile soul pursuit!”
Several powerful soul lights shot out like lightning, howling as they raced toward Lin Fengmian’s location.
Jin Ren, filled with murderous intent, followed closely behind, his hatred burning. He longed to skin his enemy alive, tear them apart, and inflict endless torment on them.
Meanwhile, Lin Fengmian, accompanied by Liu Mei, finally approached the ancient tomb, a glimmer of relief flickering across his face.
However, just as they approached their destination, several vengeful ghosts howled and lunged at Lin Fengmian.
Lin Fengmian’s expression changed drastically. Didn’t we agree on two hours?
Could it be that this guy just happened to be nearby?
Before he could ponder further, he activated the Demon Emperor Technique, his sword flashing as he sliced through the attacking spirits.
Landing in front of the massive tomb, he quickly channeled incantations to open the tomb’s entrance.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Jin Ren’s voice roared as he approached, surrounded by a dozen ghostly heads that darted toward Lin Fengmian and the others.
“Sister, hold them off for a moment!” Lin Fengmian continued to channel the incantations, activating the tomb’s protective aura.
Chen Qingyan chanted softly, then shouted, her sword transforming into a blue frost dragon that roared toward the oncoming threat.
Liu Mei bit her finger, drawing blood, and quickly strummed the strings of her Qin with her bloody fingers.
Drops of blood turned into flames, which were then whipped into a fiery tornado by the power of the qin’s vibrations.
Watching their combined attack, Jin Ren sneered. “Trying to stop me with such feeble efforts? You’re delusional!”
The ghostly heads swiftly merged into a massive skeletal dragon, which clashed head-on with the frost dragon, shattering it and revealing the blue sword within.
The skeleton dragon lunged, its jaws snapping shut with a loud crack, breaking Chen Qingyan’s sword in two.
The destruction of her magical tool caused Chen Qingyan to spurt blood, her face paling.
The skeleton dragon pressed on, its black mist tearing through the fiery tornado and hurtling toward the two women.
Chen Qingyan quickly formed seals and conjured three ice shields in front of her, but they were shattered one by one.
Liu Mei leaped into the air, raising her Qin before them.
With a series of resonant vibrations, the strings of their qin snapped, but the force sent the skeleton dragon reeling back.
However, the impact sent both Liu Mei and Chen Qingyan flying backwards. At that moment, Lin Fengmian finally managed to open the tomb’s entrance.
He turned, catching the two women and using the momentum to leap into the tomb, the entrance closing swiftly behind them.
Jin Ren, frustrated and angry, roared and unleashed several streams of black energy that crashed into the tomb’s array.
The array trembled under the attack, and the mountain shook violently as rocks cascaded down.
Inside the tomb chamber, Lin Fengmian held Liu Mei and Chen Qingyan tightly as they raced through the narrow corridors.
In his embrace, the two beautiful women found themselves pressed together, their chests touching and their faces nearly brushing against each other. The situation was undeniably uncomfortable, but the constant rumbling of the tomb and the falling debris reminded them that the tomb’s array might not hold for much longer.
They exchanged awkward glances, but neither of them dared to disturb Lin Fengmian as he focused on navigating the treacherous path.
As they moved forward, the Golden Crow Sword flew around them, slicing through the walls of the tomb to create obstacles for anyone following behind.
Soon, they reached the main chamber. Lin Fengmian quickly took out a small teleportation talisman and began placing spirit stones on the altar to activate the array.
The ground beneath them began to glow as the teleportation array began to spin, layer by layer, emitting a blinding light.
However, the constant crashing of rocks from above and the rumbling sounds indicated that the outer array had probably been destroyed.
Liu Mei, watching the teleportation array activate, suddenly turned pale, her expression filled with dread.
“Junior Brother, this Minor Starshift Array can only teleport two people at a time. Moreover, it needs a full day to recharge after each use.”
Lin Fengmian froze, his eyes wide with disbelief. “The Elder didn’t mention that to me!”
Liu Mei smiled wryly. “But she instructed you to use it alone. She probably didn’t expect you to bring us along.”
Lin Fengmian quickly handed the small teleportation talisman to Liu Mei, his tone serious. “Senior Sister, you two go first. I’ll find another way out.”
Chen Qingyan shook her head, her gaze softening as she looked at Liu Mei and Lin Fengmian. “I’m the one in the way.”
“Junior brother, his target is you. You two should go first. Even if I fall into his hands, I might not die.”
She looked deeply at them, her voice calm. “You can come back for me when you have the chance.”
Liu Mei knew that Chen Qingyan practiced the Heartache Technique, and if she were to lose her purity, her cultivation would be ruined. She stared at her in shock.
“Senior sister, are you serious?”
Chen Qingyan nodded firmly. “Go now. Leave this to me.”
However, Lin Fengmian refused to let her fall into the hands of the Heavenly Deception Sect’s lecherous fiends. He shook his head decisively.
“No, Senior Sister. You two go first!”
Liu Mei took a deep breath, her tone firm. “Enough of this nonsense. If we go, we all go together. If we die, we die together. It’s better than falling into their hands.”
“Every array has a breaking point. Junior Brother, increase the input of spiritual energy to push it beyond its limits.”
“If we’re lucky, the three of us might make it through. If not, we’ll die together. At least we won’t suffer at their hands.”
Lin Fengmian considered her words, and then nodded with a smile. “You’re right. If we’re going to die, let’s do it together!”
He took out the remaining Spirit Stones and Teleportation Star Stones, pouring all of his energy into the array.
Chen Qingyan looked at the two of them, her heart was touched, but she forced a smile. “You don’t have to do this for me.”
Liu Mei rolled her eyes at her. “You’re the one who is noble. Does that mean I can’t be noble too?”
Lin Fengmian laughed heartily. “If I’m going to die, at least I’ll have two beautiful women with me. Even as a ghost, I’ll be happy!”
Liu Mei playfully pinched him. “You’re ugly, but you have big dreams!”
“What else would I dream of?” Lin Fengmian replied with a grin.
He turned to the two women and bowed elegantly. “Ladies, after you!”
Chen Qingyan’s lips curved into a faint smile as she nodded softly.
The three of them stepped into the teleportation array, and a tearing sensation washed over them as the array struggled to handle the overload.
Chen Qingyan’s eyes filled with determination. She moved to step out of the array, ready to sacrifice herself.
But a strong hand reached out from behind her, pulling her back and holding her firmly in place.
She looked back in surprise, only to see that Liu Mei had also taken a step forward, intending to do the same. However, Lin Fengmian had caught her as well, pulling her back into his embrace.
Clearly, Liu Mei had the same idea as Chen Qingyan, but Lin Fengmian had stopped them both.
