Infinite Potential System

Chapter 412: The Celestial Planes? Talent Effects!

The Ask Function has improved a lot over the years, and the questions are relatively affordable now, so why not use it? William thought to himself, though he felt somewhat bad.

He didn't know how close the System was to Efretta, but he could imagine that spending a few hundred thousand years with a person would be enough to form some sort of connection. He started to feel guilty before even asking the question.

System, did Efretta die?

-The body double has perished since its Ascension, but her main body is still alive.

William heaved a sigh of relief. William felt that if even Efretta had died, then he didn't stand a chance in the Ascended Realms. He continued to ask questions that he had been holding onto.

System, you said something about the Celestial Planes. What is that?

The System answered William's question for free.

-The Celestial Planes are another name for the Ascended Realms, though over time this name has been forgotten. It's more accurate to refer to the Ascended Realms this way, since a Realm is usually part of a Plane, and there are many Planes in the Celestial Planes.

Multiple Planes? Are they two-dimensional?

-Not quite. Their sheer size may make it seem that way, and it was once considered as such, but the Elements and multiple powerful Cultivators over the millennia have changed the environment to fit their needs.

-There is much to explain, but it's best to see it for yourself.

Hmm... William thought. He could already sense that the Celestial Planes were completely different from the World Efretta. And if his old World was also in the picture, some pieces were starting to click together in his head like a puzzle.

With the Celestial Planes at the top, would it be wrong to think of Efretta as the layer in the middle, while my old World is at the very bottom? We didn't have Cultivation or Magic, but they were regarded as myth, rumor, or superstition by many.

It's almost the same as Efretta's knowledge of the Ascended Realms.

-You can think of it that way. There are many Worlds like Efretta, but most function the exact same. What's unique about Reius, though, is that it cannot be easily located.

Why's that?

-The only access points to Reius are from Efretta directly.

Huh? William didn't expect such a shocking piece of information.

Did that mean that no matter what he or anyone did, they had to be on Efretta to reach Reius? Was it in a separate dimension? There were too many questions, but William was getting distracted.

The memory of the past had ended a few minutes prior, and Fria was nowhere to be seen. Since the Lesser and Standard World Cores across all of Efretta had been absorbed, William now only had the Greater and Superior Cores remaining.

Finally! A moment of peace where I can look at my new Talents! I've been itching to do this for weeks! William smiled as he opened his Status Panel.

Humanity Deprivation?

-The negative status that comes from the Humanity Statistic. If the effects are great enough, the Host might find himself overcome with one of the seven deadly sins: Lust, Sloth, Greed, Envy, Pride, Gluttony and Wrath.

So, that night with Charlotte? William asked.

-Yes, but was that really a bad thing?

The System's reply seemed slightly flirtatious, as if it was telling William that it had his back.

He shook his head and continued scrolling through the System Panel, not knowing what to answer.

William was surprised to see that he had still gained loads of Talents that were still useful to him even now. Just being able to recover his Forcefield at a decent rate was huge, considering he usually only had a chance to use it a few times during battle.

The next Talent he scrolled through was the Heaven Bruising Talent, but he had already looked at that earlier and knew that it allowed him to destroy Heavenly Tribulations easier. He moved on to the next interesting Talent: Magic Homing.

———

Magic Homing (Legendary): (A)

Effects: Your projectile Magic Spells now home to your intended target, but their turn radius is limited and improves with Rank.

Next rank up: 10000 PP

I can already home Magic to my enemies. How does this help me? William didn't understand how this could be a Legendary Talent.

-You won't have to focus on the Magic and can start casting another Spell immediately, saving you time.

The System's explanation immediately triggered some thoughts in William's mind. If he casted the Flaming Space Needle Spell that targeted multiple enemies in its flight path, wouldn't he be able to cast a second one immediately? Then a third?

This is broken! William's eyes widened. The simple explanation from the System made William want to take back his earlier words, since Magic Homing could very well be one of the most powerful Talents in his arsenal.

If the Jack Of All Trades Talent that gives me knowledge of every profession I come in contact with wasn't so useful, Magic Homing might be at the very top!

When he thought about how the Black Hole Spell was always on top of the Skeletal Dragon, William realized that part of that was because of this Magic Homing Spell. How else would the Dragon go down so easily?

———

Misdirection (Common): (A)

Effects: Apply simple distraction techniques used by fake magicians to redirect your opponent's attention.

Next rank up: 1000 PP

———

After seeing a series of Epic and Legendary Talents with amazing effects, the Misdirection Talent was a bit disappointing. It could hardly be considered a Talent, since William's Illusion Affinity did the same thing and more. The same could be said for the Sleight of Hand Talent.

William scrolled past the Sleight of Hand, Drawing, and Stone Skipping Talents, moving on to the last four: Dream Stealer, Hunter, Consumables Expert, and Noble Prowess.
