I'm in the world of Young Sheldon TV series

Chapter 39: Virtual World III

"Wow, amazing," Missy exclaimed.

"This is underneath your garage?" Tam asked, incredulous.

If you were to describe the place, it would resemble that part of the mall where those toys and arcade machines are.

"What's that?"

Sheldon pointed to a red object sitting discreetly in one corner—something he'd never seen before.

Alex looked over and realized Sheldon had spotted Baymax.

"It's nothing—just a backup generator."

Alex wasn't ready to introduce Baymax just yet, so he lied.

"Can we look around?" Missy asked.

"Sure, feel free to explore. I've got something I need to take care of and will be out for a bit. When I'm done, I'll call for you all."

"Don't worry—Ana's here. If you have any questions, just ask her. Besides me, Ana is the second person who knows this place inside and out."

Alex said as he headed toward a staircase leading to the second floor.

After Alex left, the group fell silent, slightly nervous.

"Shall we stick together?" Tam asked.

"Works for me," Sheldon replied.

"Us too," said Missy and Mia.

Billy stayed quiet, and the others turned to him, waiting for his answer.

Not understanding, he just said, "What?"

"Better if we stay together," Tam said as he pondered which direction to head.

"How about we check out the snacks area?" Missy suggested—she was still thinking about all the delicious treats she might find.

"I want snacks too!" Mia chimed in.

After asking Ana for directions, they made their way to a spot that looked like a luxury candy shop.

The sheer variety made Missy and Mia's eyes sparkle—even the boys got excited.

Ana taught everyone how to use the machines to grab food, and each of them picked something to eat, even Sheldon couldn't resist.

...

While everyone was enjoying their treats, Alex checked the room he had prepared for the Virtual World.

Seeing the equipment in place, Alex felt deeply satisfied.

This was the first time he'd allowed outsiders into his virtual world. He hoped they would enjoy it.

[Sir, after testing, all systems are fully functional!]

"That's good. I don't want to embarrass myself during my first beta test," Alex said, recalling it hadn't been long since he built an automated assembly line.

Even though he had confidence in his creations, Alex believed it was best to stay humble—humility is a basic principle.

"How's GAIA?"

[Sir, I've been monitoring it for a month and GAIA has shown no abnormalities.]

"That's great. Transfer the Earth 2 data to GAIA now."

[Understood! Estimated transfer time: 10 minutes.]

Alex nodded and watched the loading bar begin.

GAIA was a supercomputer created by Alex. It could handle an uncountable number of variables in less than a millisecond.

Its computational power was terrifying. If Alex's math was right, GAIA was capable of constructing a world nearly indistinguishable from reality.

Ana handled Earth 2, correcting bugs and keeping the game updated without needing pauses.

Earth 2 was just one of the worlds Alex had created—and the reason he chose this one for testing was that it required far fewer resources to process compared to the other virtual worlds.

Earth 2 was an open-world game where humans used CADs to cast spells.

Yes, the world was based on Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei—and to be honest, Alex copied it shamelessly.

Since that particular work hadn't been created yet in this timeline, Alex saw no issue with "borrowing" the concept. Besides, the anime's theme was perfect for a game.

Time passed quickly, and the data transfer finished.

[Transfer: Complete]

"Show me what Earth 2 looks like now," Alex ordered.

[Understood]

The screen changed, showing people walking down the streets of a skyscraper-filled city.

Cars moved to and fro, and the sheer amount of information made Alex smile.

The scene shifted to a group of students taking a test to enter the academy.

The camera focused on several of them, and to make it easier to recognize each one, Ana added captions with their names:

Tatsuya Shiba and his sister, Miyuki Shiba. Mayumi Saegusa, Erika Chiba, Leonhard Saijo, and many more.

Each of them was a special NPC—players could attempt to befriend them.

"Alright, Ana—call everyone over."

Alex was thoroughly pleased with the results and eagerly awaited the chance to dive into this world with the others.

Previously, most NPCs were hard-coded characters, with only a few having AI. Now, with GAIA, every NPC is an AI.

But now, every NPC in this world was AI—indistinguishable from real people.

They lived, died, and felt everything humans could feel.

Don't ask for the technical details—according to Alex, this kind of stuff was simple.
