I’m a Girl, He’s a Psycho, and This is Fine

Chapter 41: Chapter 20.1: Secrets Under the Covers

The night was unusually cold, the kind that made floor tiles bite through socks and beds feel like slabs of ice.

Shi Mo curled deeper under her blanket, only her eyes peeking out.

Across the room, Zhou Zhi was snoring softly, sprawled like a starfish. Fu Yunshen lay silently on his side, earbuds in, back facing the room as always.

Everything seemed peaceful.

Until it wasn't.

Shi Mo stirred, shifting slightly under her covers, when something strange happened.

Her chest binder, tightly wound and unforgiving after a long day, had loosened ever so slightly. As she adjusted her sleeping posture, her hand brushed against the padded silicone prosthetic she'd been wearing for disguise.

It popped free with a barely audible plop.

Her eyes widened.

"Oh no," she mouthed.

She lay still, praying it had gone unnoticed.

A few minutes passed. Silence.

She reached under the blanket to adjust things quietly—

And then Zhou Zhi groaned in his sleep.

Rolling over, he yanked half her blanket with him.

The fake appendage rolled out from under the sheet like a cursed artifact, landing softly with a dull thud on the floor between their beds.

Directly in Fu Yunshen's line of sight.

Shi Mo panicked.

She dove off the bed and scrambled to snatch it up.

Too late.

Fu Yunshen turned just as her hand closed around the silicone piece.

Their eyes met.

His gaze dropped to what she was holding.

Shi Mo froze mid-crouch, caught like a thief in the act.

There was silence.

Then—

"…Is that a fake d—?"

Shi Mo cut him off. "Yes. And no follow-up questions."

Fu Yunshen blinked, genuinely stunned. "Why the hell do you have—?"

"I said—no follow-up questions."

He stared at her for a few seconds, then calmly turned to his side again and pulled the blanket over his face.

Shi Mo stood there, mortified.

The next morning was… tense.

Zhou Zhi seemed blissfully unaware of the night's awkwardness, humming to himself as he styled his hair with way too much gel.

Shi Mo moved robotically, eyes fixed on her breakfast tray.

Fu Yunshen sipped his tea like nothing had happened.

But she knew he was thinking about it.

And he knew she knew.

After class, Zhou Zhi pulled her aside with a mischievous glint in his eye.

"I noticed something weird last night."

Shi Mo stiffened. "What did you see?"

"Well, something bounced off the bed and hit the floor—"

"I dropped a snack."

"Looked like a—"

"A snack, Zhou Zhi."

He squinted. "...What kind of snack was it shaped like—"

"I swear, if you finish that sentence—"

Zhou Zhi raised his hands in surrender. "Fine, fine. I didn't see anything. Just thought you were into weird survival gear or something."

Shi Mo rolled her eyes and stomped off, cheeks burning.
