Chapter 26 – The Encounter with Hancock

After crossing the dimensional portal, Arthur found himself surrounded by an immense ocean stretching out in every direction. Floating in the air, he crossed his arms and thought to himself:

Arthur could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him, his heart beating with both anticipation and tension. The salty sea breeze mixed with the faint metallic scent of blood lingering in the air, making the atmosphere even heavier.

"Well… this is the world of One Piece, so of course there'd be water everywhere. Only I would be unlucky enough to land far from any island."

Wasting no time, Arthur flew even higher, passing through the clouds until he reached the space near the atmosphere. From up there, he activated his super vision, scanning the ocean in search of an island showing signs of life.

The sky stretched endlessly, with streaks of orange and pink painting the horizon as the sun began to set. The world below looked like a living map, with shifting waves glistening like liquid gold.

After a few minutes analyzing the natural map the world was showing him, he spotted an island that seemed inhabited. Without hesitation, he shot off at high speed in that direction.

Landing in a secluded corner of the island, Arthur quickly recognized the place.

"The bounty hunters' island… where they lure pirates with food and drink just to kill them afterwards."

The air smelled of alcohol, gunpowder, and sweat. Wooden shacks were scattered around, and distant voices of rowdy men echoed from a nearby tavern.

With a cold smile on his face, Arthur walked up to one of the hunters. Without any ceremony, he grabbed him by the collar and started beating him mercilessly until the man passed out. Then, he took the compass the guy was carrying—a Log Pose pointing toward Alabasta.

Arthur could feel the adrenaline in his veins, but also a growing determination. Each step he took was a step closer to shaping his own fate in this chaotic world.

"Perfect. This'll help me move forward."

Arthur then took off, following the direction shown by the compass. The wind howled past his ears as he flew at breakneck speed. He repeated the same process upon reaching Alabasta: found someone with the next island's Log Pose, took it, and continued his journey. This went on for an entire week. Island after island, flight after flight, always moving forward without rest.

Each night, he would land briefly on a mountaintop or a deserted beach, resting only for minutes before taking off again. The taste of exhaustion became familiar, but he ignored it. His goal mattered more.

Finally, Arthur arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago. Exhausted after so many days of nonstop flying, he landed in a corner of the island and stretched, loosening up his body.

His muscles ached, and his clothes were damp from sweat and sea air, but none of that mattered.

"Finally… a place with some decent civilization."

He was about to look for a way to reach Fish-Man Island when a scene caught his attention.

A group of slave traders was dragging several chained people down the street. Among them… Arthur froze for a moment as he recognized Hancock and her two sisters.

Time seemed to slow. Memories of stories he had read about her fate in this world flashed in his mind. The suffering. The humiliation. The scars she carried.

"No way… this has to be destiny messing with me."

The opportunity was perfect. If he saved Hancock now, there was a good chance he could win her heart… and, as a bonus, get close to Rayleigh to learn Haki. Everything was falling into place.

Without hesitation, Arthur walked toward the traders and stopped right in front of them.

"Get out of the way, you little shit!" one of the men shouted angrily. "Or we'll kill you right here!"

Arthur looked around. The people on the island pretended not to see anything. No one did anything. No one intervened. Everyone acted like this was normal.

Children clung to their mothers, avoiding eye contact. Shopkeepers busied themselves with meaningless tasks, their gazes lowered. It was as if the entire island had become deaf and blind.

Arthur sighed.

"I really underestimated this world's indifference… Just like so many others. In this world, if you're good, all you get is suffering…" He thought for a second about what happened to Kuma—a clear example of that.

The air grew thick with tension. Birds stopped chirping. Even the wind seemed to pause.

"What the hell are you babbling about, kid?!" the trader charged, drawing his sword. "Die!"

The world seemed to slow down. For Arthur, the strike came in slow motion. He reached out, grabbed the man's sword midair with ease, and with a quick movement, drove the blade into the man's heart.

Arthur could feel the vibration of steel passing through flesh and bone, a sensation both disturbing and oddly satisfying given the circumstances.

When time seemed to return to normal, the trader collapsed to the ground, dead with his own weapon through his chest.

Gasps erupted from the bystanders. Some screamed. Others ran.

Without giving the others time to react, Arthur moved like lightning. In an instant, he exploded the heads of the other two traders with punches so fast and powerful that their bodies hit the ground before the screams of panic even started around him.

Blood splattered the cobblestone streets. A metallic tang filled the air. The silence that followed was deafening.

With the enemies dead, Arthur went to the slaves, starting to break the chains that bound them.

The clatter of breaking metal echoed as shackles fell to the ground, one by one.

When he stopped in front of Hancock, he looked at her and asked, even though he already knew the answer:

"What's your name?"

Hancock, still with a frightened look on her face, answered shyly:

"M-my name… is Hancock…"

Her voice trembled, barely above a whisper.

Arthur smiled, placing his hand on her head and gently ruffling her hair.

"Hancock… what a beautiful name."

She blushed, looking at him with a mix of confusion and relief.

For a brief moment, their eyes met. Arthur could see gratitude slowly replacing fear in her expression.

Arthur then took a deep breath, satisfied. Destiny was finally starting to smile at him.

The cries of seagulls echoed above, and in the distance, the sound of waves crashing against the shore reminded Arthur that his journey in this world was just beginning.
