I Reincarnated as Superman’s Brother, But I’m an Anti-Hero"

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 — Truths in Paradise

Chapter 23 — Truths in Paradise

The sound of waves crashing on the sand and the distant cry of seagulls set the perfect scene for an unforgettable day. Arthur and Missy were in Hawaii, enjoying every second under the golden sun. They ran along the beach, splashed water at each other, laughed until they were breathless, and even shared an ice cream as they walked hand in hand along the shore.

For a moment, Arthur allowed himself to forget the plans, the powers, the weight of what he carried. There, with Missy smiling beside him, he felt like just a regular boy… or almost.

After some time, the two of them sat under the shade of a palm tree, watching the ocean. A comfortable silence settled between them, until Missy broke it with a timid but determined voice:

— "Arthur... I need to tell you something."

He turned his face toward her, curious.

— "Go ahead."

She took a deep breath, eyes fixed on the sea ahead.

— "I like you. Really. Not just because you saved me or because you have superpowers... but for who you are as a person."

Then she looked away, embarrassed.

— "And I wanted to know if... if we could be together."

Arthur looked at her in silence for a few seconds. It wasn't a surprise. He had already sensed it in the way she looked at him, in her affectionate gestures, in her words. But still, he needed to be honest.

— "Missy... you're amazing. Truly. But I'm not a normal guy. Not even close. Beings like me... don't have ordinary relationships."

Missy looked at him, confused.

— "What do you mean?"

Arthur sighed, trying to find the right words.

— "The kind of life I'm going to have, the enemies, the power, the worlds I'll visit... it's all far from normal. And for people like me, the most common type of relationship... is a harem."

Missy's eyes widened.

— "Harem? Like... several girls?"

Arthur nodded.

— "I'm not saying this to brag or act arrogant. It's just that... when you deal with supernatural beings, monsters, battles, adventures through places normal people will never go, love manifests in different ways. I know it sounds absurd... but it's the truth. So, you need to think carefully if you'd accept that."

Missy fell silent, processing everything. The light in her eyes seemed to flicker for a moment. She stood up and looked toward the horizon.

— "I... don't know. It's a lot. I've never thought about sharing someone. I need some time, Arthur."

Arthur stood up as well and, with a gentle gesture, placed his hand on her head, messing up her hair a bit.

— "It's okay, Missy. Even if you decide not to be my girlfriend... we'll still be friends. I promise."

She smiled faintly, relieved.

— "Thanks for being honest with me."

— "Always."

After that, they went back to having fun. They walked on the rocks, collected seashells on the sand, and even went into the water to swim a bit. When the sun began to set, Arthur checked his mental clock and realized it was time to take her back.

— "Shall we?"

— "Yeah."

Arthur activated the Shadow power, surrounding them in a dark aura with vibrant red streaks. The wind intensified, lifting sand around them. In moments, they were back in the city.

He stopped in front of the Cooper house. Missy looked at him.

— "Thanks for today, Arthur. Even with everything... it was perfect."

— "That's what I came for."

She smiled goodbye and entered her house. Arthur activated his power again and ran like a dark streak down the road, thinking about everything that had happened.

— "She didn't agree to be part of a harem... but that's normal. This is still the DC world. Even with superpowers and gods everywhere, most people still think like regular humans. It makes sense that she refused."

Arthur gave a small smile as the wind rushed past his face.

— "But life goes on. There's no shortage of girls out there who don't mind this kind of thing. Just keep moving forward."

When he got home, he was greeted by the expected scolding.

— "Where were you?!" Martha yelled.

— "I just went to check out the neighboring city..." he replied, trying to sound as natural as possible.

Jonathan crossed his arms, suspicious.

— "You could at least have told us."

— "Sorry... it was all last minute."

After the lecture, Arthur sat down for dinner with Clark, who seemed more concerned with his new shoes than his brother's disappearance.

Arthur looked at the table, the food, the gathered family... and then thought:

— "Even with all this... there's something comforting about being here."

And so ended another day of secrets, powers, and difficult decisions. But deep down, Arthur knew this was only the beginning.
