Chapter 491: Ambushing the True Word Demon (Part 3)_2
Papasa struggled, but it was futile.
At that moment, his Absolute Territory surged violently, silver electric arcs bursting forth with crackling sounds. For an instant, it even overwhelmed Wu Mayun's Utmost Dark Magnetic Field.
The surrounding darkness dimmed somewhat, revealing the contours of the room's interior.
Silver electric arcs shot out in all directions, relentlessly striking Akira Kamiya and Wu Mayun. Akira Kamiya bore the brunt of the attack, with over half of his body nearly melted away, yet the remaining portion still stood defiantly before Papasa.
Most of the black energy emanating from his facial features was completely inhaled through Papasa's nose and mouth.
Meanwhile, Papasa's skin began to inflate, shimmering with a dense web of silver light coursing within, as if on the verge of bursting at any moment.
Perched on his shoulders, Wu Mayun resembled a shadowy wraith, writhing under the relentless strikes of silver electric arcs, her body crackling with the sound of explosions. Yet she stubbornly maintained her control over Papasa's movements.
In the next instant, all the death energy spewed out by Akira Kamiya converged into Papasa's body, leaving Lucifer's corpse entirely dissolved, no longer visible.
Papasa's body swelled further as silver light erupted outward, tearing his skin into fissures that shimmered with flashes of silver from the gaping cracks.
Bang!
A few seconds later, his body exploded into fragments, unleashing an immensely powerful silver magnetic field that blasted Wu Mayun across the room, slamming her forcefully into the wall.
The darkness within the room dissipated in an instant. The electric lights flickered back on, revealing Papasa kneeling on the ground. His body was fractured, mouth slightly agape, and the silver glow in his pupils had all but vanished, leaving only faint traces of light lingering.
Soon, Papasa ceased moving entirely.
From his broken corpse emerged a figure enveloped in faint silver light. It retained the childlike appearance of Papasa. Turning to face the slumped Wu Mayun in the corner, its eyes, nostrils, and mouth radiated intense silver brilliance.
This was Papasa's Strange Body!
Among the select few Gods of Death, Papasa's power wasn't the most formidable, but his body, soul, and magnetic field were the most reactive. None, including Wu Mayun, Akira Kamiya, or Landon Walker, could match him.
Thus, the moment this physical body perished, Papasa's Strange Body materialized almost immediately, and his Absolute Territory seamlessly transitioned into the Absolute Death Field. The Silver Luster of his unique skill now encompassed every part of his Strange Body.
"Ah—!"
Papasa, now consumed by rage in his Strange Body form, launched himself forward with a powerful leap, his silver form landing directly in front of Wu Mayun.
Wu Mayun raised her hands, summoning black energy to form a barrier, barely managing to withstand Papasa's frenzied assault at such close range. Though her body was thrown into disarray, she persisted and reactivated the Utmost Dark Magnetic Field.
Once again, the room plunged into complete darkness.
At the same time, Wu Mayun extended her hands, grabbing Papasa by the shoulders. Silver light surged from his entire body, dispelling the surrounding darkness. Papasa lifted his short leg and kicked Wu Mayun in the stomach.
Instantly, a black hole formed around Wu Mayun's abdomen, devouring the magnetic field with relentless ferocity. The darkness in the room rapidly diminished.
"Ma Yi Lun Cheng Dao, Guang Xian Zong Wei..."
Wu Mayun let go, clutching the black hole on her stomach while muttering indistinct words, as if reciting a cryptic incantation to unlock her physical potential.
The black hole began to shrink quickly, and its absorption of the Utmost Dark Magnetic Field also slowed significantly.
Papasa had no intention of waiting. He quickly turned toward the rear door of the room. As he swung the door open and was about to chase after his father, Claudia IX...
...a towering Royal Guard, nearly two meters tall with a burly frame and cropped brown hair, appeared at the doorway, clad in bulletproof gear.
The guard made no move to draw a weapon against Papasa, as though aware it would be futile. Instead, he lunged forward and locked Papasa's Strange Body in a crushing bear hug, enclosing the silver entity within his muscular arms.
Papasa was taken aback by how this man could physically restrain him. He immediately sensed something was amiss, as his Strange Body should have been able to phase through the guard. Yet now he was immobilized.
Looking up, he saw the guard's eyes clouded with decay, visibly emanating death energy.
"Akira! Kamiya!"
Papasa bellowed in rage, realizing Akira Kamiya had once again possessed a host, and this time he had chosen a Palace Royal Guard.
The overwhelming death energy enveloped Papasa, rendering him unable to break free temporarily.
Akira Kamiya shifted his gaze to Wu Mayun and rasped three chilling words: "Destroy him!"
The black hole in Wu Mayun's stomach continued to shrink. She staggered to her feet, pushing herself toward the rear doorway of the room.
The silver electric aura surrounding Papasa intensified further, shining like an incandescent sun, illuminating the possessed Royal Guard's body more vividly.
It became apparent that this guard's heart had long since ceased beating. The moment Akira Kamiya left his host, the body would collapse, lifeless.
Wu Mayun approached Papasa, extending her hands directly through his Strange Body, reaching into the back of his skull.
Dense darkness, like viscous ink, surged into the Strange Body's head. Papasa thrashed furiously, but even as he tried shifting into a ghostly form, he was unable to succeed, bound by Akira Kamiya's potent death-enshrouded grip.
Wu Mayun's fingers neared his eyes and suddenly gouged forward, eliciting a bone-chilling scream from Papasa.
"Father...!"
Two silver orbs appeared in Wu Mayun's grasp, yet they seemed intangible, as though devoid of physical substance.
With a fierce squeeze, nothing tangible shattered, but the silver orbs rapidly dissolved into nothingness, extinguished.
"Ah—!"
With one final, guttural scream, Papasa's Strange Body contracted sharply, like the brief collapse preceding a nuclear detonation. Then, it expanded outward with a thunderous eruption of silver energy!
Boom!
Wu Mayun was blasted away, her Utmost Dark Magnetic Field vanishing instantly. She hurtled through the choir room, crashed through the front door, and collapsed outside.
As for Akira Kamiya, still clutching Papasa, the robust Royal Guard's body disintegrated into ash in an instant. The black shadow of Akira Kamiya, shrouded in death energy, was flung out.
The shadow landed in the flower garden.
Soon, Akira Kamiya's faint, weakened voice echoed in Wu Mayun's ears: "Tell Kurosawa Tsuyoshi, come get me in seven hours!"
Wu Mayun was too injured to rise unaided. Sensing Akira Kamiya's shadow burrowing into the soil of the garden, she realized he was slowly retreating toward the Royal Mausoleum.
Gods of Death were notoriously difficult to kill. Their Strange Bodies, even after death, were formidable. Thus, even with the combined efforts of Wu Mayun and Akira Kamiya, eliminating Papasa had been a tremendous ordeal.
However, they too were gravely wounded—Akira Kamiya especially.
Yet Yan Junze's plan was always for them to merely keep Papasa at bay; he would handle the others and the True Word Demon, Sylvanus, himself.
Though Wu Mayun had her doubts, believing Yan Junze's strength insufficient to confront Sylvanus alone, she ultimately followed Zhang Chengjing's counsel to stick to the plan.
Now, their mission was complete. All that remained was to see how Yan Junze fared.
Even as far as Claudia IX had fled beyond the church's perimeter, Papasa's heart-wrenching death wail still pierced the air.
Throughout his retreat, Claudia had encountered no Royal Guard. Whatever method the Gods of Death had employed, these guards had eerily disappeared!
As Claudia bolted further away, his panic mounted. But upon hearing Papasa's dying cry, he didn't pause; instead, he pressed onward.
Payne, who was supporting him—aided also by Lin Yishan—suddenly froze in shock.
Payne's expression darkened drastically. He blurted out, "This is bad! Papasa..."
"Forget him!" Claudia barked urgently. His voice was hoarse and strange, his speech hurried but tinged with icy calculation. Although he had recovered substantially, his body remained fragile.
"Papasa is facing two Gods of Death on his own; he's in grave danger!" Payne exclaimed anxiously.
Claudia, however, cast him a calm, sidelong glance. "There's no need to panic. Papasa only needed to stall them for a while. We must leave here first."
Without further discourse, he turned toward Lin Yishan. "Yishan, contact Jeffrey immediately. No matter where he is, tell him to execute the plan we discussed."
"Why don't you care about Papasa's survival!?" Payne yelled, barely holding back his frustration.
After all, Papasa was the sole God of Death in all of Olay Great Capital.
Claudia ignored him, refusing even to respond.
A cool voice suddenly broke the tension from not far behind. Yan Junze stepped into view and uttered calmly, "Because, he isn't Claudia IX at all."
